You stayed at the Carib Hotel (maybe name changed) in Lindbergh Bay next to the airport. My dad had a dive shop there in the mid to late 1980s. I spent a couple nights in the hotel, one at an after high school party someone had, and my mom and aunt visited one time. Greenhouse used to stay open to the 2AM limit (it is 4AM now, but nobody parties at night these days, not like the 1980s) and had a live band from 10pm - where the stage was is now for video poker, and they close at 9PM. I don't know if you detected it, but at Trunk Bay on the peninsula is a home. I knew a girl that grew up in that house and came over to St. Thomas every weekday for school at Antilles School. I grew up there in my tweens and teens throughout the 1980s. The alcoholism there is the worst part about the islands, if you have an addictive personality that is not a good place to live. I can never live there again.

It is the Lindbergh hotel now, I guess… and yes, right next to the airport. That must have been quite the experience growing up there! Didn’t notice too many drinkers there, but overall a fun time. Met some nice people and had the best cheeseburger of my life at The Tap in Redhook. Would go back just for that!
