Observing the celebrations and remembrances has been a sobering and humbling experience that I will always be grateful for. And I am especially grateful to those who shared with me their family's experiences during the Siege.

Nobody is forgotten! Nothing is forgotten! Eternal glory to the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War! Happy Victory Day to the free world from Mother Russia!

I want to set strait the WW II's historical record once and for all. Without the great sacrifices of the USSR soldiers and civilian at the battles of Stalingrad (Volgagrad), Leningrad (Saint Petersberg) and the greatest tank battle at Kursk where millions of the NAZI forces were crushed to pieces, the Allied forces would never be able to set foot on Normandy soil !!! This is a historical fact. Though the Americans, French and British shamelessly tried to ignore it !!!!

And just to add to that, the fact the USSR only declared war on Japan, the day before Japan surrendered to the Americans...they would NEVER have been able to move their forces from the far east of Siberia to Moscow to stop the German advance on the city...and was only 30 miles away. In other words but for the Americans defeating Japan...the German Swastika would have been flying over Moscow...and Russia would have been defeated.

@@aladdinmamedov6666 Yes...BUT...Khalkhyn Gol, from May 1939 to September 1939, was a "border skirmish". Soviet casualties were under 30,000 men, killed and wounded. The Japanese lost maybe 17,000 killed and wounded. Both of the estimates above are very sketchy because of both countries hid the real casualty rates..but they're probably pretty close. But...The point is...the Soviets maintained PEACE with Japan until August of 1945...when Japan surrendered to the USA. So Zhukov was able to move 1700 tanks, 1500 aircraft and 18 Divisions from Siberia to Moscow, to aid in its defense and provide the means for a counter attack on the German Army after December 5th, 1941...just 2 days before the Japanese launched their attack on the American's Pearl Harbor. In other words without the Americans being the major concern for the Japanese, Zhukov may NOT have been able to move his forces West to Moscow...and Moscow could very well have fallen to the Germans. Those reinforcements from the Far East may have turned the tide for the Soviet Army.

Если есть голова на плечах, то думаю не составит труда понять , почему Япония решила напасть на США, а не на СССР , тем самым открыть 2-й фронт против СССР .. НЕ ЗАДУМЫВАЛСЯ ОБ ЭТОМ ??? Может потому что Японское руководство посчитало США более слабым соперников, нежели воюющая СССР ??? Учись , иностранец.!

Those are not military units, they're young-army cadets (Yunarmiya) also officially known as the All-Russia "Young Army" National Military Patriotic Social Movement Association. They are a youth organization, hence why you will never see them hold weapons.
