Speaking of ponds and lakes, remember not to let your dogs drink stillwater unless you know it's safe for humans to be in it. I walk dogs for the local animal shelter that's near a pond, and there's a strict no drinking policy because dogs may get poisoned by some bacteria/algae/microorganisms just like humans who drink unboiled water.

Yeah I live next to a lake and when I first got my puppy we took him to the water to show him something new and homie walked up to the bank and dunked his whole head into the water. One week later he was diagnosed with a mild case of Giardia. He wasn’t too sick just runny green poop. But it was a very good learning lesson lol.

@@Whatnuggets ....so then they should go a little out of their way daily to take proper care of the pet they chose to have?? No hate, I just really don't see how that's a valid reason for continuing to endanger their dog. She said in the video that going to this park with this pond has previously put both herself and her dog in danger of *drowning* - and before this episode she had no way of stopping that from happening during future visits. If the choice is between death or extra commute time, I think the obvious answer is to choose the longer commute time no? Or hire a dogwalker who can actually handle her pet? At least it's handled now, asking Victoria for help was a good idea on her part, because refusing to change anything and just continuing on as she was was just asking for something bad to happen. Hope those two stay safe now.

I have seen other clips involving this dog and these owners, and have come to the conclusion that what the dog needs is to be rehomed. This dog needs the exercise and stimulation that the pond provides compared to the boring backyard. And the "pool" is way too small to meet any of his needs(it may be fine for a small dog but not a big one). Plus, the house he lives in is too cramped for him. Too small, just like the pool, and too full of furniture and the like. He's like a bull in a china shop.

They were developed to be search and rescue dogs in the mountains. They're bred for cold and snow, not for swimming. In this clip they talk about how Max is really not a good swimmer. His thick coat gets heavy and drags him down, which is how he nearly drowned both himself and his owner. Max likes swimming but it isn't safe for him to swim unaided. He would need a dog life jacket.

“You’re not listening Max!”, obviously she isn’t much smarter than the dog. For one, the dog doesn’t understand English or any other human language, and why talk to it anyway if it’s not listening. The mutt is too big for her to control. The fact that she nearly drowned shouldn’t surprise anyone. She nearly got herself a Darwin Award.
