Me and my brother just set up our ps2 and started playing this game again we are arguing who’s the best because of our high score 700,000 and this mans breaking all laws of physics

when he started going back up the course i lost my mind

Been playing this game my entire life and never once realized that 🤯

holy shit, bronze in 20 seconds, gold in 40! And I thought I was pretty good at this game, but this is another level! How many of the tricks finish at the last moment before impact!

I love how the trick-name display is just like "I'll be real with you chat, I'm not sure what I'm seeing either"

Mac was most likely swapped for Marty to have a German-speaking character on the roster, since German is one of the language options in PAL. JP is there for French, and Marisol is there for Spanish, but her voice lines aren't ALL Spanish

Wow ……I now see the ssx similarities in deadly decents Trickys cave and sketchy parts in Lhotse I’m guessing with ssx 3’s big mountain run where the track falls apart the icy river runs in that dam lvl with a huge river of ice to a big jump…. Some bits with the pulse goggles are needed with a lot of twists and turns and surprise crevasses Ppl found ssx3 happiness already but……all these years and I’m just now seeing the courses in other….older game tracks….wow

some tricks don't need to "finish" before you can land. some tricks like Hand in Hand simply allow you to land earlier than it seems. some tricks can be interrupted early by holding any grab button. as soon as the trick is interrupted, letting go of the grab button will allow you to land. Sad Sack is the best example, which makes the trick nearly half a second shorter than normal with this technique

@r.fantom if you mean out of the start gate, there's just an unavoidable delay where you can't hold jump. it's only really a problem in Snowdream, since the best path requires you start jumping ASAP. If you mean out of the gate in Alaska, the solution depends on the version you're playing. on Gamecube, simply holding the d-pad up and left (or up and right) will do a flip ASAP while also holding forward in the start gate for the best beginning. on PS2, you need to hold forward on the analog stick AND up and left (or up and right) on the d-pad for the best beginning.

Some tricks have frames where you can land early. For example scooter or hand in hand you can land while he is in the last phase of the trick.

And to think I struggled getting gold at first, to then getting 80k lol

I literally don’t get gold on this map til near the end and you get it in 20 seconds lmao. That’s crazy !

I recently got an old ps2 and played it. It took me 40 tries to barely get gold. I had to use the midway little half pipe to land like 4 uber tricks and get every multiplier i could. It literally came down to the last jump to get me over the hump

clones do exist unfortunately, I don't think you can clone something THIS good like SSX Tricky, it deserves to be left untouched and unmodded.

@@RuckusRugs As uberboards have different stats, there are many possible reasons why they didn't use it. 1. Looks for the video. Uberboards are generally plain and disgusting. 2. For such a plain boring board, the only benefit is that the stats slightly change. 3. Changing the stats too high or low depending on the board might be harder or even ruin the run for the tool in use. 4. The board could have already been picked when launching the recorder, therefore being too lazy to change to the other board. 5. Could have only accomplished the run with a smaller board depending on the course. 6. The map is sometimes hard because of sharp turns and objects at every moment. Boarding around with a slower board might stabilize the compatibility between the map and the run. 7. Just because... any other reason. I'm not a speedrunner, nor do I understand what the tool is, but it just seems like the reasons are there anyway. (After just now looking, they *were* using the Uberboard, with a different texture... oops.)

i'm basically what's being assisted. without the tools I used for this there's practically no way I could pull this off. the tools let me redo every jump and every section to make it as good as possible, plus some slowdown (the game intentionally is run at slower speeds) helps me be more precise

A way has been found to hit that flake. there was first a 2-player method found ~3-4 years ago, and a 1-player method found this year. I think the multiplier was placed on an old version of the map where it was accessible, OR they placed the flake without thinking about it too much.

This is actually a Tool-Assisted video. It's basically showing you the theoretically highest-scoring run possible by timing each button press down to the microsecond. It's often the Tool-Assisted videos that pave the way for people to *actually* pull off a run like this.
