How to choose? HDD or SSD 4:37s
HDD (Hard Disk Drives): These drives use the traditional spinning disks and platter to perform read/write operations on different sectors of the drive.
SSD (Solid State Drives): These drives, on the other hand, utilize instantly accessible memory chips to store the data.
Difference Between Hard Drive and SSD (SSDs vs HDDs Comparison)
1. Speed:
Since HDD drives use spinning disks to perform read/write operations, they are slower than SSD drives. In a nutshell, speed is a crucial difference between HDD and SSD drives.
2. Price:
When it comes to pricing, Hard Drives are definitely in the lead as they cost way less than a Solid State Drive (SSD). While a 1 TB Hard Drive costs approximately $50-$70, the cheapest SSD with the same storage capacity costs around $150.
3. Durability
SSDs are more durable than an HDD drive as they don’t have any moving parts. Since SSDs utilize storage chips to save data, they can easily withstand falls and other unexpected accidents.
4. Availability
The hard drives are abundant and come with a great range of capacities. These are more available in older systems and cheaper laptops. On the other hand, SSD is usually for the luxurious laptops like Macbook Pro in which an HDD cannot be opted for its configuration restrictions.
5. Power Consumption:
As compared to an HDD, a solid-state drive is more power-efficient. Since SSDs use small memory chips, they don’t require extra power to perform any read/write operations.
Which is better for you? Hard Disk or SSD
• Know Your Requirements:
Choosing the right storage drive will mainly depend on your work requirements. If you use your laptop or PC to perform heavy operations such as video editing, gaming, graphics designing, etc. This will speed up your entire workflow and it’ll become much easier to transfer files from one storage medium to the other.
• Know Your Budget:
Budget is another key thing when it comes to choosing the right storage drive. If have enough budget, choosing an SSD would be a smart choice.
• If you’re into videography:
if you are a photographer/videographer and want to use the storage drive to save all your RAW footage, make sure to buy an SSD drive as it will make it much easier to manage the entire data.
• For regular use:
If you use your laptop for regular daily tasks like sending emails, writing blogs, surfing the Internet, an HDD will be a wiser investment.
Hope you have known what is the difference between ssd and hdd after watching this video and select the most appropriate disk for you.

You can see the difference when you turn your computer on. 20 seconds (SSD) as opposed to 130 seconds(HD). The real question, not answered here, is real world performance for money between a 256 gb SSD and a 3 terabit hd, both at the same price point. Explain that difference in different applications, from startup to how your machine uses it and you have useful info!

I HAVE A STUPID QUESTION, once you copy all the lap top on a external drive, are you actually using the hard / external drive info to work on , instead of things on the actual computer ? If so i can delete a lot of things off my lap top and use the external drive instead ???

Hi there, thank you for your question. Yes, it is absolutely possible and common to save your project files, code, and other development-related data on an SSD (Solid State Drive) to save internal storage space on your computer. In fact, using an SSD for development work can often result in faster read and write speeds, leading to quicker project load times and better overall performance.

@@subpoena. They don't have a limit of read and write times like SSD for example. I can keep my hard drives for 10+ years if there is no physical damage externally or internally. Something a heavily used SSD can't do.

What you don't explain is that when i analyze disk for defragging it looks like it needs defragging cause there is red blocks everyone more than blue defragged blocks. Thus if SSD doesn't need defragging then why does it have red blocks everywhere on my c drive on my defraggler app that is ssd just like my other hdd drives > i realize c drive always rearranges stuff cause it has windows and programs in it. Thus it must be constantly defragging stuff on c drive. But since its ssd it should defragg it automatically as i thought but it doesn't it just looks ugly red everywhere yet I'm told not to defrag it.
