It is the best iron I have ever used. In two months I have gone from 5 hdcp to a 1...blows my mind.

It's a lovely feeling iron and performs really well. I can see a lot of golfers going a ZX7 and ZX5 split set for the perfect balance 👍

This is the video I've been waiting on. Happy to see how well these and the Zx5 performed. Been looking at a combo set. Now, to wait for the Zx7 vs I230 video. Thanks, Jay.

That's the plan but haven't got it as yet. Depending on the success of the three videos im sure Srixon will send out a sample 7 iron to test 👍 I love a good Blade 🙂

Gorgeous irons. I had a chance to check them out in person but I didn’t hit em. Love the brushed chrome look. Small clubhead. The ZX5 is definitely much thicker/chunkier. Absolutely love the face milled mini grooves. I’ve found the zx irons to be similar in size to my 921 Forged.

Geeze. You're quite the striker. I've been out of the game for 17 years. For some reason I decided to start back up this week, out of scratch. I went to a fitting today and decided on this set with my intent to play a couple of days per week and maybe, just maybe, get back into competitive golf. It's interesting to me that they're players irons but are so forgiving. All the advanced stats are lost on me but hearing you talk about them is interesting. I've never even known my swing speed. It was fun talking with the fitting guy about what everything means. I told him my story and he handed me a generic 7 iron to start. My apex with that was something like 140 feet and spin was nearly 7000...We changed it up pretty quick :) Anyway, thanks for the video. I was having some buyers remorse but you've calmed me down.

I have recently gone zx4 4 iron, zx5 5-6, zx7 7-p all mkii’s. I’m extremely impressed with the combo and especially the zx7’s… such a solid iron! Can’t wait to see these head2head with some Mizunos! Great series, thanks Jay!

Im doing exactly that. I wasn't sure so I got my 4i zx4. Got my zx5 6i. Got my zx7 8i. Gonna fill in the gaps. I was gonna do the zx7 aproach at 50° though

I'm playing the ZX7s (not the MK II) irons and genuinely love them. They are a fantastic iron. I have yet to hit the MK IIs. Impressive all around performance from a "players" iron.

Cool clubs robot tested this head and the forgiveness was extremely impressive, on par with what you found. I have these in my bag and have been very pleased with them, great feel off the face! Would love to see the blade test!

@@AskGolfNut cool clubs is a company out of Arizona that will robot test 6 areas on a club and present the data in a dispersion chart. They do what you have always done but with a robot and then they show a dispersion chart. Which I think you should do. Keep a log of it and categorize clubs based on “if you hit toe” go with these clubs, “if you hit heely” go with these clubs. Cool clubs hasn’t done these types of reviews in a while. You a the Lone Ranger at this time. You do a great job and I really appreciate your hard work

Hi Aaron, I'm now aware of the cool clubs reviews with a robot although apart from saying they've done it and how any particular clubs perform, and to be a cynic, I haven't seen any physical captures or proof that they even have done any testing. A proprietary image on screen showing dials etc has little in the way to show the person looking for evidence sorely lacking... It's an interesting take on things and done correctly would absolutely beat my stuff out for the water, unfortunately with the motivation to keep the data succinct and pleasant on the eye, it's, literally lost all plausibility of its validity..... Could literally be picking numbers out of mid air. This is why I give actual delivery capture data so all can see. When I get big enough I will be able to afford a swing robot and do the perfect review and comparison of all clubs using perfect calibration and cross comparability 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Very underrated, most manufacturers now make very very good options. The most important part of it is, selecting what manufacturer and club design works best for your needs and strike miss point. 👌

Hi Jay, great review as always. What iron would you say is the closest to this in the mizuno range (in forgiveness across the face), HM Pro, forged, tour, 225? It would be good to get you to explain efficiency vs. forgiveness on the livestream, some irons have much better efficiency (from your reviews) but this does seem forgiving all over the face. Before watching this i would have said this iron wasn't for me but with reasonable speed and only looking for 6-gw, descent angle is good i think i'll add this to my growing list of irons to test!

Probably the 223 would be the closest model to the ZX7. Pop on the Live Stream Monday and we'll all chat about thd difference and implications on efficiency with strike 👍🏻

Great video as always! Love the miss-hits. Would you recommend the ZX7 or the Takomo 301 CB? If i've had. shoulder injury in the past, how of a difference does the V sole make in regards to feel and less turf interaction. Thanks!

Personally I've never really felt any difference in turf interaction between most irons, I'd have to go to something like a very wide soled Ping iron that has one of the most bounce angle designs or all and with the wife sole it makes the effective bounce even more. So with the ZX7s and also 301 CBs the differences are that small that I can't feel any difference. I myself has just got over a shoulder injury that caused me to be away from swinging for 4 weeks so I can appreciate how frustrating and painful it can be 👍🏻

Looking forward to the Blade review, do you tend to prefer a narrow or slightly wider sole Jay?

Personally I prefer the smaller the better, top line, sole and blade length. Really hoping the new 241 from Mizuno will be a knife but for the masses it would be sensible to make it reasonable size 👍

These kicked my Mizuno 221's out of the bag. I had to convince myself because I think they are kind of ugly in an industrial way unlike Mizuno. But a few strikes and I was sold. Jay, you're flagging those shots, mate.

Srixon vs Tileist T series be nice

Asking for your opinion, my last two sets of irons have been mizuno, current set Mp-hmb there 4th year would any of the Srixon be worth hitting or maybe wait for Mizuno243,245 ? Thanks.

Definitely worth testing the ZX5 if you are a current HMB user and looking to renew. Also yes not making a decision until you've hit the new 243 and 245 would probably be best 👍

Just did a fitting and walked away with the ZX7’s over the i230 and Blueprint S. ZX7’s had best dispersion, launch, spin, decent angle.

I heard the ZX7 Gen 1 is pretty similar if not better than the MKII. Would love to know if that's true or if there isn't much difference

I'd be very surprised with an iron of this type of design that there is much difference to be fair. Normally model to model change is relatively small and most marketing is targeting the golfers with older equipment to see the gains. You may not see much if anything going from model to model 👍

I moved up from the MKi ZX4s to the MKi ZX7s and I have been very surprised by their forgiveness, length and feel. No going back, awesome clubs.

the Gen 1 has more mass at the edges where the new generation moved it right behind the sweet spot. this is why i’ve heard the same thing - Gen 1 even more forgiveness

Top line is the same across the range now!

Also being honest I have the 6 iron in the 4 and both 7 irons in the 5 and 7. I can see a very similar top line in the 5 and 7 but definitely the 4 is thicker, as I I'll walk up to them and identify the ZX4 straight away by the top line 👍 I'll report back 👍

Would you say it's more forgiving than the Ping i230?
