  • @AskGolfNut

    @jbh199 Max I'm 12 degrees. The platinum version is a lighter head weight to promote faster swing speeds but is less forgiving than the Max. Honestly I haven't really seen much benefit in the way of huge gains in speed from the Platinum but the extra forgiveness helps with the Max especially from miss hit shots 👍🏻

    I just got my set of Qi irons and noticed the hosel/neck of the 5-8 irons is different and jagged/edged. The 9 and wedges have a smooth hosel/neck. Take the 8 and 9 iron out and swing them in the air. You'll hear a very audible difference between the 2. It's almost like there's a lot more drag in the air with the 5-8 irons, than the 9 and wedges. Anyone else notice this? I noticed it immediately like something was wrong or loose...

    Your stance is incredibly wide for a 7 iron and this is restricting your shoulder turn on the backswing. Can you please try a much narrower stance to check if it improves your strike?

  • @AskGolfNut
    @AskGolfNut2 күн бұрын

    Does this mean that Tour players shoulder turns with Driver are less than their 7 irons due to their stance being wider?? It's not, so although I understand your logic, it doesn't 1 change my shoulder turn relative to my hip turn and 2, it wouldn't affect strike in any particular way. Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍🏻

  • @AskGolfNut
    @AskGolfNut2 күн бұрын

    Hi Nathan, welcome. Blending depends a lot on speed and club delivery dynamics. Normally the blend would move into the more forgiving and helpful in launch club when ball dynamics would dictate the need for extra help. Commonly the blend would be around 6,7 and 8 iron 👍🏻

    Gaming Titleist irons - T350 4i (1 deg weak @21), T200 5i (1 deg weak @25), T150 6-GW. Not getting along with the T350 4i and considering replacing it with a T200 Utility 4i but concerned at only 23 deg it won’t gap enough to my 5i. Usual ‘lefty’ issues of not being able to find a T200 utility to demo anywhere. Mainly use 4i as an off the tee club. Any suggestions appreciated.

  • @AskGolfNut
    @AskGolfNut2 күн бұрын

    Honestly unless a golfer has a very high swing speed that can get a good consistent distance advantage over their 5 iron (miss strikes taken into the average) then most should look to change into a hybrid or say 7 Wood options. The utility irons are just too unforgiving for anyone that doesn't hit the middle most of the time. Launch and forgiveness are its drawbacks when you compare them against higher lofted irons and directly against a hybrid or fairway of comparable carry distance. Some just don't get on with fairways and Hybrids so I understand why they keep with the long iron approach but it's a hard slog over the years to get good with them and especially as golfers age and reduce in swing speed 👍🏻

  • @rreach79
    @rreach792 күн бұрын

    @@AskGolfNut Thanks very much for the prompt reply. It’s as much a gapping issue as anything as I’ve found out on the course the 4i is going 15m+ further than my 5i (the 4i is a real rocket ship) and now my 3H is almost redundant. I’ll look at a hybrid although I avoided that because i have a tendency to hook them.

  • @AskGolfNut
    @AskGolfNut2 күн бұрын

    @rreach79 weakening it a, further 1 degree (if possible) will give you a reduction of 2 to 3 yards which will bring it back into gapping. Generally though gaps will/should get larger on the top end of the bag and closer at teh mid to bottom, say 10 to 12 mid to short clubs and then 15 to 20 for the long stuff 👍🏻

    how many people tend to be non standard lie ? .. i think alot les then actually have it changed , looking at 2nd hand ping clubs as example most are red or blue dot which is non standard . i assume this is a case of people with less then perfect swings going for fitting and them been sold it as they hit it better, when a swing tweak/practice might meen they use standard black dot. is there any truth to this logic or is it most likey i would be red dot after a fitting... i currently use 2nd hand black dot ping i210,dynamic gold 105 reg shaft . according to guides i should get stiff 120g shafts for my swingspeed but after searching for a long time i couldnt find them in black dot. i got i210 6-pw+uw +56 ping glide wedge. i decided that pw+uw were better value getting them as part of a set rather then buying seperate, . i also got adams super {s} white heads hybrid 4+3 to replace the long irons... all in great condition and only 350 for the irons and hybrids. :} . the set looks awesome.... the other options i had were wilson fg tour v6 or apex pro and after holding all clubs the i210 stood out to me. they are noticable lighter tho ... one of the reason i looked for i210 is after your review saying you could game them and how good they felt.. the main reason i went for i210 is i want consistent distances and a seemless iron to wedge game. overall super happy so far, something that is not covered in reviews is how a set changes and feels , 6,7,8,9,uw,pw, 56 are all unique clubs in terms of head,bounce,sole. the i210 really are designed well and each club feels like unique club but at same time very balanced across the set.. ping fanboy lol

  • @AskGolfNut
    @AskGolfNut2 күн бұрын

    From experience custom fitting countless people over the years, I can absolutely say that rarely did I find anyone that was standard lie. There is definitely a reason why the 'standard' lie of manufacturers has found its way more and more Upright as the years have gone on. Most deliver high handle due to swing mechanics issues. Although a decent percentage of them actually reduce their Upright lie requirements as a biproduct of coaching. Chicken and the egg maybe on this one but it's also very difficult to change and work with the change with equipment which is way out of spec so having the ability to adjust as the golfer adjusts is ideal. Ping do it amazingly well, unfortunately they are the only company that has that ability in its extreme. Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍🏻

Set make up 6-PW, 3 CBX4 wedges, 7 wood, 5 hybrid, 3 wood and driver. Only testing left is Darkspeed and Wilson Dynapwr and Dynapwr forged bit worried these brands have very strong lofts. Tried Cleveland Zipcore XL irons and surprised that the ZX4 were better for me. Anyway would appreciate your thoughts . Many thanks Jay.

    Hi there, to be honest over the years the standard driver shaft lengths have got longer and longer and this hasn't got anything to do with humans getting massively taller, it's all to do with club head speed gain, longer shaft commonly means faster speed. Although also commonly means less control. Even if you were north of 6 foot generally the standard length shaft is still absolutely fine so at 6 foot either or will work. Personally I've always opted for a shorter shaft in my driver. The shaft I used for the review was 45.25" long and that all represents half inch longer than my normal custom length. So at standard length of even a quarter inch short it'll be absolutely fine 👍🏻 Don't forget the promo code 😉👍🏻👍🏻

Just bought the latest in the 4 (21") and 3 (18"). Was going for the Ping 430's but the Clevelands were half the price here in Thailand, and although no adjustment, it just made sense- they felt very similar tbh and I don't use them that often so wasnt worth double the price for a club i may hit each once per round (the 3 and 4).
