Fun fact : Sinhalese central kingdom was never ULTIMATELY taken down by European powers THROUGH WAR ! It was only through treaty with help of a Sinhala coup

Dhru can't get over the British, he never complains about the Islamic invaders. Maybe, he is too scared to mention the 80 million Hindus murdered by Islam.

@@administratorshan because majority of the Sinhalese population lives in the central/south. There aren't as many Tamils down south as in the North where Tamils are concentrated so naturally Sinhalese don't often become Bilingual. They all learn it in school though.

Put simply, majority of them don't. Some learn Tamil or Sinhala to communicate but a few learn enough English to get by.

It is beneficial to learn in tamil in sri lanka if you have a government job so most people learn tamil as a secondary language to get promotions by the government . But without using tamil in day to day life, their knowledge in tamil language fades away and they only left with a certificate

Sri Lanka should consider to applying to join India as a state since Sinhalese trace their origin to Eastern India, speak an Indo-Aryan language and follow Buddhism which is considered a branch of Hinduism in India. In the short term Sri Lanka joining India as a state would be a burden for India. In the long run it will economically benefit both India and Sri Lanka .Also both India and Sri Lanka can be safe from foreign powers.
