Mam your suggestion to keep stray dogs was quite logical . During my Air Force life , I hv seen the DSC guards always keep 2-3 stray dogs in and around their guard posts. They were well maintained and found very alert .

There are two temples in my neighbourhood were stray dogs stay on guard 24*7. In fact, the locals respect them. They have even guarded people who had to travel alone at the wee hours .

Yes very true.For dogs possess very good intelligence and will make good loyal loving persons.But unfortunately there are such a lot of Stray /Free ranging /Free roaming helpless -hapless dogs without a proper care.There is a shortage of Dog care rehabilitation and training shelters in all cities,towns,villages of India.Also Forest Departments are unable to accept them as they are considered as Semi-Wild dogs and only Totally Wild Dogs can be accepted.This has caused a lot difficulties for the Stray/Free ranging dogs as well as the people who are also victims of Stray homeless Dogs attack.This has to be rectified by the Ministry of Environment,Forests ,Climate Change in agreement with Parliamentary Standing Committee on Environment and Forests.
