I've had two, really handy for a big fat git with a broken collar bone. I sold them both! I wish I had kept them. They are stupid expensive now they're not made anymore. The best quality squire bass I've ever played. I have a short scale cort at present but it's just not as slick. I love short scales I have had many. I'm still building my headless short scale b2 copy . One day it'll surface onto you tube . 😉👍✌️♥️

They're one of these basses for me that I just think."I'm not using that, it can go!". Then I sell it and am ravaged with regret! 🤣

Just remembered , they come with fender skinny strings. 40 to 95 ish! I bought a good few sets and found them great on this bass. I put them on my cort also. Very bendy/ slinky. I just got used to them and love them. 45 to 105 on my other 34" basses..👍♥️✌️

I use fender 40-115 on my 5 strings now. Great strings

@mindhead2005 That's great to know , I never had a 5 string . The massive 130 most come with ( I think?) put me off. That's really obvious to put thinner strings on but never crossed my mind . Even though I do it on 4 string basses... I always fancied a 6 string bass but tuned e to e like a guitar. Actually it would be d to d just to complicate matters as I tune down a whole step for my ageing vocals. So many things still to try. ✌️♥️

@@springy-2112 for live work a five is handy, not so much for the lower notes but for positioning etc. Did you look at the Squier Bass VI? Sounds like exactly what you're after?

    @@mindhead2005 115? Is it a low b or high c 5er? I'm a nutter and have 115 on the E of my 6er !

This is a great video, good evaluation and demonstration. I'm definitely getting one of these. EDIT: found one online and placed the order.

You missed a perfect opportunity for some Spinal Tap quotes when showing off the grain at the start there! Funny things short scales. Had a 30" pbass which was absolutely amazing for recording and studio work but I just couldn't get along with it live at all (my go to bass is my trusty 6 string, loooong scale). Do like the Jaguar shape, has an edgy vibe to it.

It’s funny that you would say you had received reports about the bridge pickup being worth swapping out. When you slapped on it this time, I forgot why I don’t do that myself when I play my Jazz bass. In this case, it sounded almost as powerful and patchy as that of a stingray or the EMGs in your headless models. Back in the spring of 2000 when I was all but decided on purchasing that Jazz bass, another instrument I had tried out a couple of times was similar to this Jaguar bass. It was another Squier short sale in aqua that (probably) had the same pickups. Reason I did not get it was because I had been playing a P-bass replica by Epiphone and was less interested in getting another model by an import brand. Less than 19 years later, I did get myself a Squier short scale, a Vintage Modified Bass Six. At the bottom of this comment is a link to me playing one of my original songs on it. It’s kind of choppy, but I’m still proud of it. Come to think of it, mindhead, that is one model I would enjoy hearing you demonstrate. kzread.info/dash/bejne/paCZ3MaOcprfmaw.htmlsi=ufL9wnCQcbmSp8mb
