If anyone's curious as to why Marina is so quiet in this song... During an official interview with Marina, she was asked about what inspired her as a musician. She talked about her love for the Squid Sisters, and how their music completely changed her life. When she and Pearl were asked to make a cover of Now or Never for the splatfests, Marina felt unworthy to vocalize one of the Squid Sister's biggest songs (inspite of the fact that the Squid Sister's version is ALSO a cover) regardless, Pearl offered to step up and carry the vocals, leaving Marina to focus on the digital accompaniment

Which makes this all the more noticeable when during the break in the final Splatfest, you can definitely hear Marina involved. Guess she mustered up some courage now that Callie and Marie were there to back her up.

now are never isnt a squid sister song... it was originally Squid Squad. It is stated in the liner notes for Splatune and Splatune 2 that the song Now or Never!, performed by many different musical acts in the franchise (Squid Squad, Squid Sisters, Wet Floor, Off the Hook, C-Side, and Deep Cut), was originally made by Squid Squad. so this excuse doesnt apply for now or never

@@drewhaynes1874 Yes, and Marina even acknowledged that in the interview. But to her, it was still a song covered by the Squid Sisters, so the pressure was too much lol.

well to be fair marina is the one that makes the beat and the sound track it self as noted on sunken scrolls while pearl does the singing, hence the loud megaphone at the end of octo expansion

@@newvex 1. I think the inkling language and the octoling language is the same. 2. I think Wet floor vocals are not inklings but they made a now or never song with there style. 2. Shiver also sing now or never and she's an octoling but it doesn't have the same words of of the hook and the squid sisters.

You can really hear when Marina sings and it makes the song so much better, in my opinion

@@megansutton9699 YES! One of the splatfest themes could be deep-cut vs Off the hook vs the squid sisters. I don’t know which idols could represent which though, but maybe the winning team could be the idols of Splatoon 4 (if we get one, I know splat 3 hasn’t even come out yet 😂)

Deep Cut? Off the Hook? Or Squid Sisters? I think if this happened there would be some kind of cutscene or something of the other idols coming in to convince everyone to vote for their team, and EVERY idol would be up singing some remixed version of anarchy rainbow. Maybe depending on what team you picked, those respective idols would host the news on your account all the way until the fest ends. During the matches, it would probably use either new music, or music from the dlc expansion, and then the now or never for the FIRST half would be all 3 idol teams singing a remixed version of Deep Cut’s now or never, and for the second half it would probably be from either the main story boss or the dlc. Idk those are my ideas idk if they made sense or not🥲

0:29 Just found out after re-listening to the song, but if you listen closely during this part, you can hear wet floors voice hidden under everybody elses voice. If you can't hear it, put the speaker up to your ear or wear headphones. This small detail made me die with nostalgia lol.

I love how much of a prominent role Marina has in this song. My favorite lyrics of hers were "laaa, lalalala laaa," and especially, "laaa, lalalala laaa."

I love how it's basically 33 33 33,but then marina's like "hey! I exist too!"

Nah, it’s more so that she respects the Squid Sisters so much she refused to sing a cover of Now or Never (despite the fact that Callie’s and Marie’s version is a cover in of itself.) Never heard about her struggling about singing lore-wise.

I really wish marina joined in for the normal splatfest now or never, it's so empty compared to this one in the does where she could come in. And I know there's a reason for it, but it doesn't mean I like it.
