The commentators have complained about Farag not being ‘fired up’ enough, then he does a single fist pump without Ramy even seeing and they have a problem?

ramy physicality is a big question mark not only to his fans but also for himself. The way his movement on front court clearly reveals that he his not absolutely alright. Also the pace in movement in court leads to effects him badly on number of occasions. Hard time for him but he is a fighter and everyone knows that. That is the reason why there is a huge fan following because of his unique style, magician racket skills & abilities, acrobatics & athleticism. Hope he will regain his form, class and elegance

note to the commentators: no fist pump is ever necessary, just as your bias to certain players isn't necessary - yet both go on unchecked :)

How on earth is a fist pump at 2:17 unnecessary? Maybe - just maaaybe - farag wanted to win the game...?

This does not age well, what in the world was the commentator on about? Farag is up there as the fairest and most respectful players and a small fist pump is unnecessary? Biased commentary. I guess this occurred before the Asal era, the commentator would have a cardiac arrest with Asal’s antics.

+PSA SQUASHTV is it possible to add the post match interview in the highlights. It would help people connect with players better. Even Tennis highlights upload interviews and they are a lot of fun. Thanks

We always put in something from the finals winner speech, could potentially add them to these... maybe only from a certain round onwards though as I'd imagine only a small percentage will be of interest

It would really help Ramy if he works with one of the former greats (Power, Nicol, Palmer, or even Matthew) on making the age transition and the mental aspects of the change that entails. Currently, he seems not sure how to make that transition. His game obviously cannot go back to 2012-14, so he needs to figure out a Ramy 2.0 for the next 5 yrs.

Normally I like Farag a lot and have always thought he is a good sportsman but here he is running in with the aim of getting a stroke with absolutely no intention of trying to play the ball, very sad to see. That the umpire doesn't see it either, although its so obvious is a real shame.

i think Ashour may have an injury to his ankle. Looks like he's playing lazy or over-confident, but I think he's going easy due to injury. saw him hop in a weird way a couple times in this game.

He wasnt moving well from the start of the match but he wasn't injured enough to pull out so i think he will be back better by the Windy City Open next month. On another topic i remember back in the British Open 2012 Semi against Willstrop the final point of the match Ramy was hitting the ball so hard and so straight even the best player to control the ball at the time (James Willstrop) couldnt keep the ball tight enough and so Ramy was able to do his magic. Here in this tournament he was moving well in the 1st two rounds but there isnt much power in the shots to hurry his opponents to play loose balls and open up the court for his artistry

  • @dweeder1453

Thanks! At 6-5 he seems to limp and avoid putting stress on his left leg. That is why I asked. I don't mind him losing but I just don't want him to get injured. If squash had money like Football or tennis, he would be able to get that problem resolved easily by doctors. Also, good point about the shot power. I think it has to do with his new racquet. I have played with Airstick 130 and Textreme pro. The sweet spot power on those is more than any other racquet I have tried. I have also tried the old prince sovereign and it is no match to airstick or textreme pro warrior. That zipping power is not there anymore.

Maybe, but the audience at least at Grand Central is already quick to support white Europeans and Aussies. Ive watched many a match posted up for free behind the front wall w the camera people, and the paying audience is almost exclusively bankers catching a match before commuting back to Greenwich CT. You aren't seeing those 5 game upsets in Cairo.

  • @M0odez

The difference is that all the other top players have had consistent match practice over the last 2 years, whereas Ramy has really gone above and beyond in the injury department to the point where he has virtually no court time at the highest level. I'm not sure where arrogance comes into it; compared to 2012-2014 he plays a much more reserved game nowadays with less confidence in his ability to slam hard nicks.

Been a fan since the 2012-2014 period. The stuff he produced back then was unreal. The matches against Willstrop at the top of his game were just epic battles of control and precision against flair and talent. They are without a doubt still my favourite highlights on this channel. He wasn't injured nearly as often back then and funnily enough he didn't really lose much. Just my personal reasons, hope it helps (and check out the old highlights if you weren't there at the time!).
