This is still one of the best squash matches that ever took place. The pace, accuracy, tactical play, add all the drama on top and this was simply phenomenal squash.

Unbelievable game of squash. IMHO, one of the best squash matches of the last two decades -- the other two being Nicol v Power 2003 super series finals, and of course, Ashour v Shorbagy 2014 World Championships. I rate this a cut above the other two purely because of the attritional nature and the strategic and mental aspects on test right through out the match. Also a clash between the two quintessentially British schools of squash was on display. The match marks the end of an era, in that the nature of the game changed quite a bit in the last decade. This is in some sense the last of the classic Anglo-Saxon style of squash matches. That said, if only Willstrop had taken the third at 10-7 instead of extending the game by a further 15 mins. That hurt him in the end.

Most people enjoy watching the top players, but Egyptian squash is usually a lot more dynamic. Personally, some of the most entertaining squash comes not only when top players play, but when there is a clash of squash styles. A Matthew vs Ashour or Willstrop vs Shorbagy match is one almost everybody might relish

Great upload. As someone who has only been following pro squash for a few years it’s great to see back when Matthew and Willstrop were still in their prime. The quality of play is amazing.I have to say though, the advances in refereeing this decade have really improved the viewer experience immeasurably. This old style of being forced to sit on the fence, and let/stroke fishing by Matthew especially, takes away massively from the quality of squash on display.

Willstrop wins beatifully constructed rally - Matthew gets a let on some bull**** technicality. Wash, rinse, repeat, until Willstrop makes a mistake and gets a stroke against him. Great squash overall, but refs need to be willing to call the No Let once in awhile to keep players honest

Nick may be an excellent player with a brilliant aggressive game but without him getting cheap lets and cheap strokes (sometimes fishing for them) when he can play the ball, he wouldn't have won that much all the time and sometimes he probably would have lost. Nick Matthew - a prolific fisher of cheap strokes and lets.

I'd rate Matthew as a good player, if it wasn't for all his cheating e.g. he calls a ball out and gets a let, then he says James' ball is down on the front right and gets a let. Appalling cheating and dreadful refereeing. No wonder people are confused by squash.
