Coll is such a natural to squash. Moves without effort slows game without effort speeds it up without decelerates the ball without effort.

Hesham was just playing to Coll's game.. He was meant to kill instead of doing long ralies with Coll...

Those last two points were intense ... Hesham threw everything at him but Paul Coll had a bit more composure and petrol in the tank.

Enderknightツ Too much movement, twisting of the racket. Need to be more efficient at that level plus all spinning of the racket leads to mistakes from timing. Less is more.

Do the refs not call foot faults any more? Hesham on the forehand side is in the middle of the court by the time he hits the ball! I always call foot faults.

I refereed a game a few weeks ago. Kids tournament...in the opening match one kid was far better than the other, and IMO was not showing good sportsmanship to the weaker player. Basically had the body language of 'you don't belong on the court with me'. He was not happy when I called him for two FFs.

Foot faults don’t really matter, as long as it isn’t giving a player an advantage then it didn’t really matter

Not the best reffed game by far. John wasn't on his best on this match and I suspect the first 2 games might have been just as messy looking. That yes let when Coll had to duck under Hesham's racket was a really bad call, did they expect Hesham to swing OVER Coll's head?? On a different note, the point where Coll accidentally clipped hesham's racket on the start of the fore-swing was very subtle on the video review and essentially was the correct call but if it was on the back swing, I reckon the PSA rules should be less black and white (currently automatic stroke). I'm sure the PSA has a good explanation for it (perhaps the rule was originally made before video referees were available), but my gut feeling would be such instances should be yes let, since neither player was "at fault" for the rackets clipping and is part of the nature of squash. Its similar to players bumping into each other by accident on a point (clearly a yes let, assuming fair play and neutral circumstance during a rally) but when rackets accidentally bump into each other or onto a player's body, it's a mandatory stroke?!! Someone please explain this.

I thought Hesham was holding his racket up before the ball got there, and not moving forward to play it deliberately.

racket clipping is a stroke because the player created the interference. Hesham was interfering with Coll's swing. doesn't matter if its his body or racket but he has to be clear and give him the front wall and room to play. No player was at fault? Hesham racket was in the line of Coll's swing. Of course it's his fault. Easy stroke call

@@cookesam6 great. I totally understand that .. but let's be honest here ... whether you're an international professional ref or just reffing a normal league night game ... rules are rules ... coll gets in the full swing of the opponent .. under the racket I mean .. a yes let ? Example 2 .. Colls racket clips Heshams racket on the swing ... a yes let ? These are fat strokes black and white buddy... Let's not mention so many others .... you want to tell me there are so many factors influencing his decision ... I'm going to simply reply and say many refs national and international refs at qualified and professional level get dropped for 1 bad call ... so doesn't matter if you've been in business for 20 or 30 years buddy.... if you get old .... it's time to retire. Dont mess with other professionals because you're unable to do your job properly. This goes for any environment. Work or play.

@@crouchingchicken007 On the potential stroke for Hesham Coll was under his racket yes but the ball wasn't there and he wasn't blocking Hesham's path to the ball (in fact it was the opposite, Hesham could have moved forward to play it). By the time the ball did get there Coll was clear, ergo no stroke.
