It´s incredible that after 30 years that I saw them at the Ontario Jazz festival, they are still one of the best bands in the world.
I have been listening to Spyro Gyra since the Mid 70s - 4 decades. Like fine wine, it is one of the few groups that just keeps getting better. Every concert is better than the one before. Have seen them over a dozen times, and will never lose a chance to see them whenever possible. Thank you for continuing to put out beautiful awesome complex progressive Jazz music.
First heard this band in my twenties now I'm fifty eight and still love them just as much, amazing gig.

Without a doubt, my absolute favourite Jazz band, admittedly Fusion. Scott is a real hero of mine being the best Bassist that SG have had. He's a great composer too...

What fool would not like the quality of this extreme music accomplishment. Excellent players and material. Obviously written by musicians for musicians. Whoever would not like this obviously just just plays a radio.

One of my favorites fusion jazz band, they take to you to another world
These guys were the house band that played in the bar at the Sundial Resort on Sanibel when I was a waiter in their restaurant back in the late 70's. They were terrific then and have only gotten better.
I'm on here again watched the whole thing again, sending it out to friends. Christ I can't get enough of that bass!
Jazz Fusion will never die !!! ;)
I grew up listening to their LPs, I used to have all of them. Great memories for me. Excellent musicians, truly melodic tunes. And Scott Ambush rulez on the signature bass!

how come ? were your parents in love with good music ? I had to grow up hearing only music that came from the radio stations that my parents would listen to... Luckily, at the age of fourteen I took advantega of an opportunity that was gracious enough to spell its bliss on me, and I moved to my Aunty*s house. From then on, the story is very well much known. I sincerly ask subscribers to be polite, responsable and to keep on a cheer spirit all day long ! With them Omnipotent Gratitudes, I do sincerly wish you all an Happy Atmosphere as sure ass the Night Young !
I think the guy on keyboard is a vampire,he does not age.
Yes, they started in upstate NY, and they stayed headquartered there for a few years too. They are the very best, and they singlehandedly started smooth jazz, fact! I saw them several times through the years, can't get enough!!!
Listening pleasure👍🇵🇭
Spyro is a legend jazz band, wonderful musicians, just a great performance. Special mention to the sing called "De la Luz" , wow
Thank you Spyro Gyra. You just turned my workplace into one of the best places to be.

The only thing that has changed over all of these years is my appreciation for this amazing jazz group. It's almost beyond expression. I don't see anyone that can top this great work of expression. 😎👍🎶🎶🎵
Good Lord! Tom's still playing keys… I LOVE how the drummer is larger than the players in front of him… BIG dude!
Great tunes and a phenomenal drum solo starting at 48:07! This drummer is really smok'in!
Yes I've been listening to these awesome guys since I was at the age of 15 years up until today man. These guys are just awesome
love Jazz because they improvise and produce excellent musical works.
Im glad Im older.....these guys rock!! Gr8 post.Thankyou so much!
I still need to understand people who thumbs some video down when sound and images are so good. It could be possible when you don't like the quality and/or the image, even if the players make some mistake while playing ... But I'm affraid this occurs when you don't like the music. Wow, there is a good alternative for that, since you can simply do not click on the video.

Test No, I'm saying that some people just like to be bugs or do things to upset others for no reason at all, No point in worrying about a few thumbs down as these don't really count. Cheers. :)

Fantastic band! Listened to them since alternating currents and they're just getting better and better. Miss some of the xylophone though.
Been listening to Spyro Gyra since the 70's and they still sound just as fresh. They deserve more exposure.

+Den Finch If you want DVD's, go to the site spyrogyra.com and hit the "Media" button. "Live at the North Sea" DVD is there. Lots of albums there is different formats - according to what you desire - like "wave" format instead of mp3. MP3 is lossy, but most of us can't hear the difference. But if you want to be a step ahead, you buy the "wave" version (which is better quality) and then make your own mp3 from the "Wave". You keep the wave file safe. Wave files are best for editing with (if you thought you wanted to edit it - why I don't know, but it's better than editing mp3). You can get a free audio editor if you don't want to buy one "Audacity". Hope this helps. Sorry for late reply. When you listen to the drum solo here, you see why the Italian's call drums "Batteria". From 52 mins, great single handed performance and tricks.
I owe my love of smooth jazz to these guys, who I accidentally discovered on AM radio. A station used their music as lead-ins to news & sports. One time the DJ mentioned that it was Spyro Gyra. Hooked ever since. Thanks for posting them!

I started my development to love for Jazz thanks to Spyro Gyra audio tape which I heard in my homeland Yugoslavia (now Croatia) in the late 1970s... I saw them three times in Concert in Summer of 1997... they still sound great... Thank you for posting this... Best regards, Ugo Matulić

Lol...I have all the vinyl from the late 70's and 80's. I spent countless hours learning Jay's solos and cool style. Good to see they are still around.
They still got it...never lost it after all these decades! Nice!
The last song is definitely a tribute to Joe Zawinul and Weather Report. The start of that song is the riff from WR's Cucumber Slumber. Fantastic show. Seen them a few times since 1978.
A very big thank you to all the members who have been entertaining us for a life time ♥

I was born after this guys were famous (late 80s). I got to know them thanks to my father, who is a huge fan, and I will always thank him for his transferred passion. This music drives me so crazy. You can feel how in love these guys are of what they do.
Awesome

Could listen all day long...
I been hear it for all my.life. !! Excellent Performance ....
Old San Juan, Incognito, Autumn of our Love, Shaker Song, Cafe Amore, Del Corazon, and many more from the first ten years LOVE IT.
The first time I heard was a concert in the UPR while studying at university in Puerto Rico in the 80's and I loved it. Is a great band.
After all these years Spyro Gyra sounds as tight as they ever did, if not tighter!
My late father would have definitely enjoyed watching this. He was a big Spyro Gyra fan.
They still sound great. I remember back in the late 70s, listening to them with headphones while standing on my ship's main deck and looking at the stars. Unfortunately I have yet to see them live.
spyro gyra takes you to another world
What really is amazing is seeing how each one of the fellows feel what they are playing. It's cool to know that others get entertained by what they love to do. It's not always the technical skill with the instrument, but the passion of playing it - especially in a band AND for over 30yrs too! Great performance!
they are sooo good live seen them about a dozen times
another perfect group thanks
This is real talent!!!!!!! these dudes can really play . keep on going guys never stop!!!!!
yeaaah 👍🔥
LOve it, thanks!
As always, fabulous
One of my favourite bands -- hell yeah!
Awesome!!!!
All of you are astounding musicians! But....I can't tell you how much I enjoy watching, on this video, the incredible performance of your drummer. Such a delight to watch him. Thanks to all of you who have given me many hours of listening delight. G_D bless.

I'm trying to make the world understand that these guys can't play. The guy on the clarinet thingy needs his fingers breaking if he's gonna be allowed to continue parping so many bad notes.
The absolute best. Love them.
Excellent video of a great show!
Le groupe Spyro Gyra est excellent... C'est le leader Jay B. qui m'a donné envie de jouer de saxophone. Ses mélodies sont de pures merveilles qui nous font voyager hors du temps.
This is SO fine! I'm Loving it the longer the concert goes on! Saw them in Florida in 1990......Fabulous.....!!
Whether, roaring down the highway, or at a stop light with the top down, or traversing the hallways and stairs of my pad, this was living music. Chopping up some veggies and whipping up a dressing, or sitting on the couch headphones on. Head nodding and foot tapping, it never gets old and keeps my memories fresh. Just turned 66 and this great music has been a part of me for decades.
Muito bom,não me canso de ver...
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! I've love Spyro ever since my dad played me their self-titled LP. Beautiful music played by fantastic musicians
These guys play music absolute amazing! Wow!
One of my all time favs...
Awesome ! Excellent post.
SURREAL.... SIMPLESMENTE PHÔDASTICO...

This takes me back to first seeing them in concert....in San Diego during the mid-80s.
Absolutely amazing...!!!
These guys are INSANELY brilliant!
Brilliant
Simply wonderful! They have everything, Groove, Feeling... Amazing...
Speechless!! Just ❤️❤️❤️
Was "Catching the Sun" a SG song or album.... I remember my roommates at UCLA (circa 1982) constantly listening to it... And of course I fell in love with it.. San Diego

Catching The Sun was both a song and the title of their 3rd studio album, early 1980.
this music reaches to the innermost parts of my soul
I think I must have been 12 or 13 when Catching the Sun came out. My parents to us to Disneyland and I listened to that cassette tape over and over again. Jay Beckenstein was a huge influence on me. This whole band swings SO hard.
So much Talent thanks for the publisher
The Best ! I'm glad they are still together and sounding excellent ! Also "Thanks" for posting this video .
Magnifical music !I LOVE IT since 1980 ! FRIENDSHIPS JAY! >>>from >>

I'll put his bass playing up there with Nathan East or Stanley Clarke. Julio? Could have been a Rock star.Awesome band!
