Great video. I'm still yet to play this game but it was fun to learn about all the characters. I think if I played this as a kid the multiple different characters to play as would have been a big selling point, I always loved it when games did that. I think Bentley will probably be my favourite.

You haven’t played the third game… This is outrageous. For me it was kind of cool but I think I mostly enjoyed collecting all the eggs and seeing what names they had. Bentley is a solid character. I don’t think you would enjoy the boxing though.

Sheila is probably the best character out of the four to play that are imprisoned by The Sorceress. Just love how she bounces and bounds through the levels all the while to an epic soundtrack. Least fav is Sgt Byrd. His levels are underwhelming and of course when i first played Reignited Trilogy his levels suffered with the camera bug just showing the lava floor making it disorientating and frustrating. Do love the Sparx levels though. Reminds me of the old days of Gauntlet on Spectrum.

Shelia is good fun to play as. Surprised they never tried a spin-off game with one of the new characters. The camera was very broken In reignited trilogy. At least it wasn’t so bad in the original even though some sections in sgt byrds level are still clunky. Not familiar with gauntlet.

Good fun revisiting this as it’s my least played and least favourite of the original 3 as Spyro takes a bit of a backseat - and you’re right, there is no character development at all. Some of the challenges are good because they were trying new things and play styles, particularly with Sparx and the monkey lad, but they never took it any further which is unfortunate. Pretty sure Sergeant Byrd was based on Tess Daly: awful, scary-eyed, duck-pouting and unnecessary individual that is surplus to requirement on this earth. Sheila and Bentley though, excellent characters and it’s nice to go around kicking and clubbing stuff. I particularly enjoyed your brief but accurate reference to Slylanders and repeatedly beating Moneybags! Great work!

Yeah same feelings. He still feels a bit childish and doesn’t really get any scenes with the sorceress, you could tell insomniac had run out of ideas which is a shame because I would have loved more insomniac spyro games. 🤣 poor tess. Would be interesting if there is a new spyro game if any of the other characters would return.

😅 whoops. But yeah I do really enjoy spyro 3. A lot of people consider it their favourite. I think it’s hard to beat the original but than I can see the original may seem basic if you play them out of order

Great video! No I agree Sergeant bird is annoying to play as! And there are a little too many other characters agreed but some are fun to play - Sheila is pretty good ☺️

Yeah It’s still a great game. Despite sgt Byrd being a little shit. I just think spyro isn’t that involved in the story. I think the developers at this point didn’t know what to do with him. Which is a shame. Still remember getting this for Christmas 2000. Hopefully the next spyro game won’t be too long from now

I actually loved sgt byrd and still do. I loved how he had no limitations on where he could go in a level, especially liking the level he shares with spyro, just gave a sense of freedom. I really didn't like bentley though, too slow for me personally. The others were all good for me and loved the game overall though. Prefer spyro 2 overall but definitely liked this game more than the first as a kid.
