Oh steal my deck is ancient, he's brought it *back* for Master Duel

The second you said “half decade since their dominance” I felt geriatric

Full combo executed well, but lost to the biggest weakness of the deck. That has to be the best replay you could have picked for this deck. Showing representative games like this and talking almost more about the weaknesses than the strengths of a deck is exactly why you are becoming one of the most reliable and viable content creators for people taking their deck choices seriously. Very well done

Droll is actually insane, if you're not adding cards and just special summoning from deck or sending to grave to combo, you can drop droll on your own turn to stop maxx c.

I run droll in SS since I want to auto win against Drytron and he’s a spellcaster for Selene. Ran into a Spyral, he scooped immediately when getting drolled.

I’ve made it to Platinum tier 3 with my go second SPYRAL deck. Having Master Plan back and three Resort has brought a tear to my eye.

Did people just forget that period where Magicians Souls SPYRAL was tier 1 in 2020 with no firewall? Maybe we all just got PTSD from the secret slayers and dragon link formats that followed it.

it shows off what the deck can do, and that's the point of the replay I guess, it spits out its best board with a full field of 11 cards but sadly the deck just folds to S/T nukes the onus is on the deck at that point, not the player

@@translationwtf9232 I believe so, haven't watched TMT too much in recent months since I haven't been following TCG stuff. I was mainly saying it because there's a good number of Master Duel videos specifically where people try to make fringe strategies seem better than they are. Same with like Duel Links fo example.

I had a game tonight where they max "C"'d me so I just screamed "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED" and attempted to deck them, got them to 13 cards left before i stlaled out and i have ot admit I stalled due to my OWN failure to clear my link zone before I got selene out, I will one day managed to deck the opponent who Max "C"'s my Spyral! MARK MY WORDS!

I think in the anime they specifically refer to u-link as extra link (but it was executed too late in the series by revolver way after it was figured out in real yugioh)

Hey Joseph loved how you mentioned the deck’s weakness as well as where to specifically use the hand trap on the deck! Would love to see more of that!

I know this is month's old, but for anyone checking out new comments after posting this, let me just say MBT was stuck in a sort of older Spyral build mindset where tri-gate wizard was worth it. Back when he made this video cards like Curious and Halqifibrax were legal and were much more powerful, and less resource intensive cards, that enabled more robust strategies than just Trigate apo sleeper pass. Even after Halq's banning, access to cards like Isolde and Union Carrier and all sorts of other cards are just going to be better than this. More importantly, he's running 6 upstart goblins -- which does help hard draw into souls and quik fix more consistently, but is a lot less robust than the Danger cards which synergize well with Spyral and Curious. And since this video cards like Small World have been released, which make the Dangers even better at hard searching Souls and Quik fix. Suffice to say, this isn't the fairest look at the deck. Spyral's a lot more powerful than what MBT showed here, and isn't particularly weak to board breakers. Oh and they put quik fix to 2 for some god forsaken reason. Not that I'm complaining.

note that its only legal in master duel, as in the history backstory joseph forgot to mention that after spyral died, it came back for a brief format when magicians souls came out, turning what was at the time, a small DM support card, into a chase item for meta players. pushing its price range up, and buying out ALL stock of the side set globally. eventually leading the the BAN of master plan, which switched off viability of the deck in the meta as souls became redundant in the deck.

I'm very happy MBT brought back his music parodys

I have to say, I don't really like this list. Playing so few SPYRALs makes you quite vulnerable if your first play gets stopped. The lack of handtraps and the lack of SPYRAL names also makes me think that going second this list just loses immediately. Chicken Game also feels a bit weird given that the deck already ends up accruing more resources than it could ever want (or use), and all it really does is try and get you more starters, which youll be lacking because you play fewer starters for more chicken games and Upstarts. Not being able to consistently Where Arf Thou also hurts a lot. This almost feels like an OCG SPYRAL list, except it doesnt have the Dark Magic Illusion that makes this style actually good.

Yeah exactly, The focus on Re-animating masterplan when you only have 3 souls is really weird. However this list looks like its just based off the guy that was the first person to get P1 with spyral.

Chicken game is just nutso for being a free draw deeper into your deck for a combo and a free send of Souls. It's hard to ignore a pot of greed, even if it's got some stipulations.

agree.in a best of 1 format you have to put some handtraps in and Tough may be the best normal summon in the game going second so you definately play him as an 1 of.I mean the deck still gets to the same board with 2 spyral name+extender so you might as well make your going 2nd games a lot better

Might try to build Spyral now. Only other combo deck I played was synchro dragunity

When ever people talk about spyral's it reminds me of how I played them on my friends stream with the first wave of support ( before they got totally broken ) I accidentally did that with like four or five differnt decks ( including the first wave of kozmos)

I think spyral is a nice second deck for sky striker players, both share chicken game, terraforming, upstart, selene and accesscode. You can even play a striker package in spyral if you have the space.

Very cool and fun fact: Chain Strike is at 3 and all of the components for Pend FTK are playable.

Sitting at Plat 3 rn with my old Spyral deck list. The only new cards I'm running are TTT, Selene, Apollosa and, Accesscode. Still rocking the Cerberus/Phoenix/Tri-gate/Helix/Sleeper board.

Can someone explain to me how to set up replays in master duel so that I can see the opponents hand like mbt does in here? I can't find any info on it elsewhere online.

I faced a Spyral player on MD ladder just before you uploaded this. They had shoved a small Sky Striker engine in to the deck for some unknown reason and their end board was 3 mat apo pass. As you might expect, they did not win.

The sky striker engine is to help unbrick certain hands with platinum gadget but it’s probably not worth running imo

How do you show the opponents hand during replays?

Spyral was also the best deck before MR5 in January-March 2020

60 card infernoid would be cool to see with this series. With grass, monster gate and reasoning at 3

If you want more omni negates on your endboard, you can also play Curious to end on a Savage dragon and a baronne.

5:00 Is Parallel eXceed supposed to be able to Chain Block? I've been playing it in Prank-Kids and it hasn't been able to Chain Block my kids getting Ash'd. ex. Link Summon Meow using a kid My only option for CL1 is the Prank-kid, then opponent has option to Ash CL2, and only at CL3 do I gain the option to use Parallel eXceed.

In the TCG you would be able to use exceed to chain block but I believe the OCG has different rulings on that, thus Master Duel does as well.

Hey Joseph for ten minute testing could you do rose dragons?

When you do these could you have a little graphic showing the number of each rarity in the deck and the cost of each :)

i dont feel like u really need parallel exceed in this deck. getting a free monster reborn is nice but running some hand traps instead seems like a better idea to me (+ free slot in extra deck). especially maxx c will help u with consistency and forces ur opponent to make a decision.

And they're not even tier 2! I don't even think a quik fix unlimit would change anything, it's still a two card combo deck and all the meta decks have 1 card combo decks since everything in tri brigade and drytron starts and extends. Spyral was kind of the birth of hyper combo heavy board setups, but they just don't stack up anymore. Quik fix is the only card that starts and extends your plays and Spyral is handicapped at one while everyone else has every card in their archetype +1 and then do some crazy effect (looking at you tri brigade).

Consider Solemn Judgment as possible option against another S/T removal

It's master duel, if someone banish 6 negate it because it's an indication they search something important.

@@r3zaful But that shouldn't matter. You have a negate for whatever that was searched. There's no situation where negating the pot is the correct move. If they already had the card in hand and you negated the pot, then you opened yourself up(which is what happened here). If you let the pot go through and they fetch a threat, you have the negate ready for it.

@@thomaswood8405 here the thing, most people who play that pot will very likely loading up going 2nd cards like droplets, kaiju or lava golem, now that you're screwed because both cant be interacted with and all of them are preventable if you negate the pot. Do you realize i'm losing so many duels because a flunder got their map from prosperity? Banish 3 just let it resolve banish 6 negate.

You could have gone into cerberus with the linkuriboh and the double helix at the end there

Wouldn't hand destruction work on this deck? Since you can send any of the reanimation traps AND draw 2 after plus you can maybe gain information on what your opp may be playing of the discard

Hand destruction in general is not a good card due to being a neg 1 and nearly every deck loves GY set up

everyone only talking about Adamancipator and Drytron in terms of combo decks, meanwhile I'm having fun Plat 1 with dragon link using 3 striker and unlimited black/white Dragon :D Obviously it has less monster negate than this, but it can acess way more omni negates, can easily recover, run a billion handtraps as long as they are light/dark and still extend to infinity
