Spying Under the Christmas Tree with an Arduino-powered Ornament

Ғылым және технология

It’s the holiday season, and if you’re putting up a Christmas tree, you know you can’t wait for the morning to see what presents are waiting for you underneath! You might even think of risking an earlier peek, hoping you don’t get put on the naughty list.
What if there was a way to take a sneak peek without anyone noticing, maybe using robotics? In this episode, Milos explores this idea by making an ornament-shaped robot that transforms with the press of a button, becoming a small mobile robot with a live video feed camera and night driving lights.

I love it, such a great project - the winch takes me bake to having action figures on a string and all that :) very cool!

Thanks, glad you liked it! The only thing beating the string would be a small parachute, I loved those as well!

Neat project! Looks kind of like a red Death Star. :) When I was a little kid I actually wanted to make a spy device kind of like this so that I could spy on what was going on around the christmas tree while I was asleep, to maybe try and catch Santa in the act of delivering the goodies. :) The only problem was that the technology wasn't available at the time. Kids (and grownups too) these days are so lucky.

Thanks, as soon I finished I googled the Death Star because the camera hole looked familiar! I missed Santa even with this, he managed to sneak by somehow! I was amazed when I saw the features in a 20 by 20 footprint.

Thanks, though the spinning ornament on the string revealed the rest of the workbench and the state of it hahahaha!

There is nothing quite like camera enabled spybots! My old rover needed a rpi, now you can do that with an arduino nicla vision!

My first thought for this was a Raspberry Zero W, but the Nicla Vision was just perfect for this!

This is hard R in terms of conceptual use example. Aint nobody leave presents unwrapped...if you wanted to peak, literally just walk your a55 over there at night lmao

Did’t even bother making the closing mechanism work.

Still a work in progress, experimentned with some compound levers, though I need to put more work in that part to get the design working.
