I'm playing Spyglass next week and this is great with all your notes, thank you! To help I've collected them and posting here to help others : Hole 1: Finding the fairway off of this tee is key. Avoid the bunkers short of the green, bail out to the right. Hole 2: Long iron off the tee and then use the slope left of the green to let your ball roll down towards the green. Hole 3: Wind will play a major factor in club selection. Play for the centre of the green. Hole 4: One of the wildest greens in all of golf. Read the break on the green, then double it before you hit your putt. Hole 5: Middle green is usually perfect. Avoid going long on this back to front sloping green. Hole 6: Green breaks severely back to front, bombs away off the tee. Hole 7: If you can’t reach it in 2, just layup short of the water. If you can reach in 2, stay right and don’t go long. Hole 8: Be careful aiming at the flag if it is on the right hand side. Middle green is always the play here. Hole 9: Add one extra club on the approach shot. Hole 10: Hole plays decently short. Don’t be afraid to hit a long iron or wood off the tee. A driver has a small landing area here. Hole 11: Be aware of how far you can hit your drive off of this tee. Don’t go through the whole fairway. Hole 12: Plays a bit like #12 at Augusta. Hole seems to have a swirling wind that can be tough to judge club selection. Green will slope towards water. Hole 13: Big drive off the tee will leave a mid iron in. This can play as an extremely long hole if it is into the wind. Hole 14: Shouldn’t be reachable in 2 for most players. Stay short of the water on your approach to set up a good birdie opportunity. Hole 15: Short Par 3 and this will play down hill as well. Middle of the green is key, but the green will break more than it looks! Hole 16: Tee shot is blind, a cut is perfect play off the tee. Second shot will play the full yardage. Hole 17: Iron into the middle should give you a wedge in. Don’t get greedy! Hole 18: Green will slope extreme back to front. Stay below the hole.
This is one of the best courses God has ever created. Long live spyglass hill!!!!
Scriptures are a great touch. God bless brother.
Just found your channel and enjoyed this video. I played Spyglass 9 years ago and frankly only remembered about 6 holes. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Will check out your other videos.
This is an awesome video. Love your swing. Very unique and consistent
Well done! Played Spyglass a couple times when the greens fee was about $75. . . . Mid 1980s in case you're wonder when that was. Good to see that not much has changed. One I recall is the short 4 par number 2 had lots of long rough in front of the green and a very narrow opening. Effectively discouraged bombers from challenging the green. It's been said that if Spyglass was anywhere else it would host the U.S. Open. Robert T. Jones has been my favorite designer. A couple have had par 5s on the first hole.
Nice video. One of my bucket list courses. Great playing as well, Spyglass is very difficult from what I've heard.
Played on 10/2/23. Tee’d into a little fog on #1. Awesome day!
Loved it Carson, come on up to Oregon and do some videos soon
How awsome is you're bible versus within yhe round....love that....let me know when you are in SA. Play a round two....keep up with the great videos....

@@patrickjordan3769 wow! Thanks Patrick! I wish i would have filmed more course vlogs while the weather was still warm. I’ll maybe do some golf challenge type videos in the meantime until the courses are green and worthy of a full course Vlog! Feel free to give me ideas. I’m thinking of doing a 1 iron only video soon.

@@carsonjoens I got you on a video lol, whatever handicap you are vs my 24 handicap 🤣🤣
Would've been a nice touch to include the names of the holes. "Blind Pew" is one of the great holes in golf.

Great video ! I played this course in 1990 for around $ 100.00. I loved it even though I shot a 90.

Great course for sure!!
Interesting video. played Spyglass once about 9 years ago. It was not my favorite. It’s a typical Robert Trent Jones design. Your game looked much better than the +8 you shot. But I believe you were playing the back tees, which makes the course play pretty long. Good video.
great vid
Just booked my tee time on 2/13 with the NCGA special and I cannot wait! Used the same special during covid for spanish and loved that too

@@carsonjoens yup the weekend of the 2-5th. They had a spot on the 6th but both pebble’s and spyglass driving range wouldnt have been opened so picked the following monday. Praying for no rain, walked spanish in the rain 😂
Playing here in October....any tips on drone? Would love to fly and get some shots of the course....probably not over the course but off the ocean!
Playing this week and the videos from the tee box are terrifying. I’m hoping it’s just the view that makes every tee box tighter than anything else I’ve played. I’m not as good as you 😅

I found this place more enjoyable from a golf perspective than Pebble. Pebble is just so magical its hard to play golf. Here its actually an incredible course.

What is your top 5 courses? How do u compare this too torrey pines
@carsonjoens
Жыл бұрын
Spyglass and Pebble Beach are much much better than Torrey Pines. I wouldn’t put Torrey Pines on my top 10 actually, great course, but like Harding Park, I think it is definitely overrated when it isn’t in Major Championship condition! My Top 5 that I have played are 1: Pebble Beach 2: Spyglass Hill 3: Olympic Club (Lake) 4: Broadmoor (East) 5: The Cal Club I have a ton of new courses I want to play soon, however for now these are my top 5!
Awesome video, what are you chipping with on these close chips to the green?
@carsonjoens

Thank you!! Most of my chips are with my 62 degree, however I use the 50 degree around the greens quite a bit as well

Spyglass is a much more challenging, scenic and better course than Pebble Beach. I’ve played both around 15 times each and love Spyglass much more. Don’t get me wrong, Pebble is an iconic, beautiful course, but for a single digit handicap golfer, my money is on Spyglass!

Is that all you have to do is buy a house to win a $400 round of golf haha. In all seriousness thanks for the look at Spyglass Hill
Bandon dunes coures in my opinion are way nicer then pebble and Spanish that's my opinion
your putting is dialed hahha
400 with greens looking like this 😂
Damn you or someone you know has to buy a house to play here? Lol
Great Video Thank You for sharing. Today 12/27/22 I am actually going to attempt to make this course for Pga2k23 since no one has. I really needed this inspiration. If you do have the game it will probably be published sometime next year. Gamer tag Evilcypress
