@@rockinrollinntrollin616 I love here and believe me there is absolutely nothing on earth that compares to this golf course.
Was lucky enough to play it once, 30 years ago, at 30 years old. Carried a 9 handicap at the time. Birdied #3 to be even after 3 holes. Reality quickly set in...ended with a 101. I was scared to hit most every shot to narrow landing areas and postage-stamp greens.

I got a chance to play it. Long story on how. I birdied #16. hit what is normally a 235 yard carry driver into a light wind which landed like a butterfly with sore feet 40 feet right of the hole 220 yards away (white tees), pin high, and the downhill almost straight putt went in the hole. My playing partner (a real golfer) hit a hybrid 50 feet right of the hole and two putted it. I also birdied #8 with three good shots. my caddy was the third most decorated NCGA player ever, an absolute legend in the area. So yeah, the experience actually lived up to the level of jim's narration. If I ever meet Jim I am going to tell him he did not over do the narration, as I heard he had some concerns that he might have over done it. The experience more than lived up to the promise.
This is my favorite course I've EVER played. I will ALWAYS believe that 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 is the single greatest stretch of the most perfect golf holes in the world.

My tee shot on the first hole went into the driving range on the right, my caddy Ray said you are playing that! All two people on the range had to wait for me to hit. Two days, two rounds of golf heaven! I will never forget this majestic place! To bad the PGA will never lay there.

Truly marvelous.
I’ve played Pebble Beach 5 times and Spyglass once over the course of 3 different trips. My dad went to school who is now a doctor in Carmel and on 2 of those trips told us he’d be able to get us on Cypress Point no problem. Both times fell through. Imagine playing Pebble Beach and being disappointed. 😀

@@GuhbsBeats Well I obviously can’t speak about Cypress, but considering I have played both Pebble and Spyglass (Pebble much more often) I can say that I had a lot more fun playing Spyglass vs every time I played Pebble. It’s definitely a much more interesting course. I can’t even play golf anymore now due to an injury i sustained almost 6 years years ago, but I still would have loved to have played Cypress back in my playing days. And not just because of hole #16 either. To me the whole course just looks beautiful and I especially like the bunkering (the fairways and around the greens) But, it’ll never happen so oh well.

@@cjmoore324 I've never played Cypress, but have drooled over every photo I've seen, and I am absolutely blown away by #15. The backdrop of the ledge behind the green, the split bunker on the left, the proximity to the crashing waves - all at a manageable length. #16 is beautiful, but I can't place it above #15 because too many players are forced to lay up. And it's certainly no more beautiful than #15.

The owner of a restaurant I worked at in Monterey got a tee time and invited me to play. He said it took him 30 years to secure that tee time. The second time I played Cypress was with a caddy. We played at sun up and we were gone before anyone noticed. It was a fluke that I ever got to play there.
It's a good job I'll never be able to play there in my life, I would lose about 10 balls on the 16th. The hole is beautiful and horrendous at the same time.
Beautiful course, the only criticism would be the amount of bunkers and some of them are a little on the large side.Small criticism I admit
I’m here because I’m currently reading “The Match.”
As i was watching this i couldn't help but think of Ken Venturi and Harvey Ward playing a best ball match against Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan. The old guys won by the way. 58 to 59.
I played this course five times. If you have played the three courses at the Resort, the best way to sum it up is this: take Pebble, Spyglass and Spanish Bay and put them altogether in one course and you have Cypress Point.
