I started out on sport bikes in my early 20s. I remember when the spider came out I thought that’s ridiculous. Then I got a Yamaha royal star in my early 30s and started doing group rides. It was awesome and I started seeing the countryside instead of the red and blue lights all the time. Three years ago I bought an F3 just to try it out. I fell in love and my wife loves it even more. Then I added a Goldwing,Suzuki Burgman and a couple scooters to my collection. My name is Mike and I have a problem!

Hey Coach! So, the female in the house won't ride on anything else and I'm still working on her about adding a two-wheeler to the stable. I wrote last week about a crazy time on a mountain riding two up in the rain and running into a squall. Well, yesterday I had a similar experience riding solo in the mountains in Colorado. Circular wind, whatever that is/was, as well as heavy crosswind gusts 50-60 mph, rain, hail, and just Hell in general. Nowhere to hide, nowhere to run, just compartmentalizing thoughts and maintaining hyper-focus. Compartmentalizing those thoughts became a real chore a time or two and I had mentally prepared myself for a possible flip-over. But the Spyder (2019 RTL) got me home about two minutes before the storm became massive; Streets flooding, and hail covered the yard within minutes, wind threatening to take off the roof. Both these times, as well as plenty of others, the Spyder came through when no two-wheeled and maybe no other style of three-wheeled machines would've "survived". So, I'm sticking with the Spyder.

Like many folks out there, I chose the Canam spyder for safety reasons. My wife and I were touring on a two wheeled cycle and she felt uncomfortable with the risk of falling or dropping the bike. We're getting a bit older, I'm 64, and she felt my balance and strength may soon become a factor. The amusing part is that I still am an avid mountain biker here in northern Minnesota, so I thought balance...an issue? But you know what they say...a happy wife makes a happy husband. Now that we have the 2020 RT Limited, tweaked for long tours, I've learned to love it. No mechanical problems to date and the Spyder is much less fatiguing on long rides. PS: The luggage capacity with an aftermarket top case on the luggage rack is ridiculous at 240 liters, that allows us to store all of our riding garb in the bike when we stop in addition to our luggage. I'm now sold on the Spyder and really don't have any significant desire for riding two wheels anymore (with an engine). Thanks for the video.

I hear ya and am a lot like you. I am 70 and ride 2 up with my wife on our R1200RT and we love it. I am also a fairly avid Mtn biker riding 2-3 times a week in our local mountains. Great exercise and good for balance and fun. My wife is very interested in the Spyder and wants us to try one out and probably for similar reasons as your wife. She likes the safety aspect of the 3 wheeler. If we end up going that route I will probably keep my Beemer and KLR650 just in case I don't want to always solo on the Spyder. I still enjoy my 2 wheel rides to much to give them up yet. Anyway, your still young yet lol. Good luck and have fun.

Im 57 and about 5'5" ; riding a Harley for about 30 yr over 100k traveled ; mostly ride two up with wife ; two years ago I traded a street glide for can am RT ; took a few thousand miles to really settle in and will never go back to two wheels. stress level at low speeds and parking lots are night and day with the RT far superior. Also note your videos were a main catalyst for the switch ; thanks for your time and quality video.

I’m almost 67 and have been riding motorcycles for well over 50 years. I was always interested in Spyders but not enough so to make the switch. Then, I saw the redesigned 2020 Spyder and I took serious notice. At the time, I had a 2002 Goldwing, 2006 HD Roadking and a 2013 BMW K1600 GTL in my garage. I was actually losing my passion for riding and was getting kinda bored with all. I knew I had to make room in the garage if I was ever going to seriously consider a Spyder. So, I sold the Goldwing and the GTL and began my search process. After taking my wife into see the Spyder and having her sit on it, she told me how comfortable and safe she felt just sitting on it. That did it. I purchased one without even a test ride. On the ride home from the dealer on the RTL, I began to regret my decision to purchase without a test ride. It was really different and made me feel I had just made a $30,000 mistake. However, after getting it home, I discovered extreme differences in the air pressure of the 3 tires and decided to give it more time before labeling it a bust. After reading lots of additional owner comments on several KZread channels and putting a couple hundred miles on it, everything just clicked for me and I got it. Once I started to drive it like a snowmobile from my youth, I loved riding it and absolutely wouldn’t ever give it up. My wife and I feel much more comfortable on it and relaxed. After viewing your videos, we even purchased a Freedom trailer that is awesome. Thanx for that! At this point in my life, I much prefer the ride, comfort, stability and ease of use the Spyder offers. I feel a renewed passion and desire to ride because it’s all new, fresh and fun to me again. It has rekindled the fire and passion for the road and fresh air therapy that had been waning in my life. I no longer am concerned about holding up my fully loaded GTL with my wife onboard. As for my 06 Road King, it’s feeling like a neglected and forgotten friend sitting alone in the garage. In fact, I’ve only taken it out twice since “Scarlett” arrived. I think I’m finally ready to part with her thanks to Can-Am.

Cory, I thought the same thing when I rode mine home on the first day. What the hell did I just buy? It took me learning about how to ride a Spyder to be able to appreciate the strengths and weaknesses. I will say that my RTL brings on car nausea, I'm not sure why. Might be the rear, center drive wheel.

After a ten year motorcycle lay off I finally got the Harley I always wanted. I love the thing. It's an '04 Heritage softail. The problems. 68 years old, bad back, junk shoulders, tricky knees, and my balance ain't what it used to be. I always had great reflexes, but I've noticed they ain't as good as they used to be either. Now I've developed dry eyes to boot. The wife won't even get on it with me and to be honest, I'm not really confident I could really handle a passenger anyway. Not if something unexpected happened anyway. So. Started shopping for a three wheeler. I test drove a tri glide and pretty much fell in love. No balancing or standing it up. Never even have to put your feet on the ground. Conventional controls. Solid as a rock. Wind was almost a non factor. So I took the wife to try it on. Raining, so no riding it. The we went to look at the Spyder. Again, raining, so no test drive. Just getting on and off, and the seat itself, the wife liked the Can Am better. We're definitely going to ride one. He is right, these things ain't cheap. Another factor is the Can Am Spyder is about 10K less than the Harley for virtually the same thing. The starting ritual and semi automatic transmission will take some getting used to, but if I can get my girl to ride with me, it'll all be worth it.

Howdy Bob and Vic, i am Merv from down under, my beautiful wife and i have both been riding now for over 50 years,19 motorcycles between us.Four of those she couldn't ride,1950 Vincent, she couldn't kick start, not many electric start boys could either,1956 Triton 650, 1980 Guzzi lemans M3, 2006 Triumph Thruxton 900,as the last three had proper drop down clipons. When you retire you spend most of your time together,so we decided to buy a touring bike. we looked at Davidson glide,Honda goldwing and big guzzi California 1400.All big bikes, two up with all your gear that's big. I'm 67 my wife 66 and she weighs only 62 kg,no way she could ride them, we needed an alternative. The spyder was the only three wheeler in Australia, as the Davidson Tri Glide wasn't available at this time.So we bought a new 2014 rts 1330,took a week to learn how to ride it, and done thousands of klms on it.There are only 7 dealers in all of Australia my closest is 4 hours away, which meant i had to do my own services. I used to collect and restore vintage bikes, but the spyder was a hole new ball game, who would think you had to take the mirrors off to do a oil and filter change. At one time i had to change a compressor pump, now that was an adventure. In 2021 we decided to up date,i wanted a Honda dct goldwing with oncore trike kit at $70,000 no chance,Davidson Tri Glides were now available,no stock, couldn't see one, or ride one.I managed to track down and elderly chap who had one,man was he honest, he said it was the roughest bike he had been on, i spent all this money and i need to change the suspension.$57,000 for a standard Tri glide and $75,000 for a CVO ,and you don't even get a retractable wind screen. Why they persist on a live axle rear end instead of a interdependent one is beyond me.On Shaun Smoke review and test ride we bought a new 2021 Sea to Sky at $47,000,(we did see your review)Same deal no stock,we ordered it took 8 months to arrive. My friend bought a new Tri Glide at the same time took 10 months to arrive, the paint and finish is Superior to the Spyder, but the rolls are reversed in the riding and comfort.Just want to clear up what that chap said to you about you should have bought a convertible in stead of a trike. we are lucky to have a convertible roaster in our stable, you just can't compere the two, the convertible is not in the same league. If we go for a run we take the spyder every time.If you have the time Bob,check out Purple on Three, she did a story on us called love x 2 .You see who's talking to you and a couple of bikes.Rita is on the Sea to Sky she is 65 i'm on the the Thruxton at 67 Cheers Merv

My choice was a 2022 Harley tri Glide. My story is that I stopped riding about 25 years ago and my last bike was a Honda V 65 Magna I purchased new. Loved the bike but sold it when I got a Corvette. Had the Vette about 20 years and a couple of years after it sold I got the itch to ride again. My riding experience over the many bikes I had starting with a BSA A10 Super Rocket, several Hondas, and a Norton commando was to simply hop on and go. No fear and no problems. Last year I found a sweet 2017 Harley Ultra Limited Low with 2,600 miles on it and purchased it on the spot. Once it was delivered I quickly discovered at 75 years old my body could no longer do what my brain wanted to do. Basically as I got older the ground got closer and closer and at 950 pounds it was just too much motorcycle. I even purchased a Honda Shadow 750 Spirit to practice on but could not get my confidence back or overcome the fear of falling. So three weeks ago I traded in the Ultra (still with 2,600 miles on it) and purchased a new 2022 Tri Glide and haven't looked back. February and early March have been kind weather wise and I have put about 200 miles on the Trike. The Trike brings riding back to me and I love every minute. For me it had to be a Harley because I had always wanted one. I love the look of the huge V-twin and that engine sound, oh, that engine sound.

Hi Bob! I was like you. I was never going to buy a 3wheeler. I dropped my Kawasaki a few years back at slow speed i hit a rut in the road while turning. No injuries except my pride LOL! any way I wanted to ride again at the beginning of the pandemic. And was looking for a Goldwing. But i wanted my wife to ride also she was nervous to ride on 2 wheels. She has he Motorcycle license. but anyway i test rode a few Goldwings and like them. But the last thing I test rode was a Cam Am. The first time I stopped at a light and did not have to put my feet down i was sold! Plus my wife rides with me she is very comfortable on the Can Am. yes i would buy another 2 wheeler but I love my Can Am F3 Limited.

About 7 years ago, I suffered a CIS. Weird quiltwork of numbness and weakness in my legs. Took me 3 months to re-lean how to walk straight, and how to use the clutch in my truck. Needless to say, I stopped riding my BMW at that point. As the years went by, I came to the realization that my legs will never improve. That's when I sold my BMW. As time passed, I started getting the itch to ride in the open air again. That's when I started looking into the 3 wheel motorcycles.Took the 3 wheel endorsement course, where I rode an F3 (interesting note, not one student in that class was under 55 years old, and was split half and half between men and women). Was sold at that moment. I have since gotten myself a new F3 Limited. In 3 months, over 3200 miles. Loving every minute of it. Can honestly say, the most comfortable motorcycle I've ever owned.

Didn't want to endanger myself or others with the potential of dropping my bike on a ride if my hip gave out when I stopped. I went from an Aspençade to a Can Am Ryker 900 ACE because of a lower back injury and pinched sciatica. After 2 years of physical therapy, I also developed vertigo. I could drive a car just fine but couldn't ride anything 2 wheels. I retired from Michigan (gloomy winter weather) to Florida (abundant, glorious sunshine). I wanted to get back to rinding again, so I went to the Can Am Course for 3 wheels and had a blast. It was so wonderful to feel a breeze on my person, my jacket flapping in the wind and the freedom of riding a bike. When I got home from the class, I bought my Can Am, used, as it was all I could afford. Thank goodness I got my sanity back. Now I am riding again. My self confidence has been restored, a smile came back on my face and I was genuinely happy and enjoying beling alive for the first time in years. I love your videos and now I am watching Coach Vic videos. What a wonderful woman. Thanks for sharing your life experiences. Daniel

I like my spider Because I have to shift the gears manually Like a motorcycle. Then versus switching a paddle. My opinionIt doesn't matter what you ride Just get out and have fun Rather It's a 2 or 3 wheel.🏍💨💨

Had to go to a Ryker Rally because of spinal cord damage due to a rare disease called OPLL and another autoimmune muscle disease I'm in the middle of getting diagnosed. I'm 5'6 and shrinking as they remove more and more of my discs and spinal column replacing it with titanium pieces and on a single income so the Ryker made the most sense. Losing ability rapidly and having long sold my last bike after 45+ years of riding, I bought a Ryker as my last chance at staying in the wind. That was a couple years ago and I can't even ride it much anymore. But, there are THOSE days, those magical days, maybe a weeks worth in year, that I still get that feeling of freedom.

i rode 2 wheelers in my military days decades ago. When I returned to civilian life I had the itch to continue but for some reason never pulled the trigger though I remained interested. Then it happened...broke my ankle. It's now held together with screws and has never been 100%. The thought of holding up a 2 wheeler steered my interests to 3 wheelers. It's not rocket science to know that 2 tires in front vs.1 is the superior set up. Test rode an RT and was less than thrilled with the centrifugal force pushing me to the outside of turns but the dealer offered no advice on the dynamics of 3 wheelers. Decided to pursue the matter further and signed up for a BRP Spyder course and was sold. As far as the acceptance issue from other communities in the rider world I feel like the Harley 2 wheeled guys don't have a lot of love for Spyders though the ones I ride with have never said anything to me about it and traditional style trikes don't like us because they can't keep up. Riders of other brands seem more accepting of Spyders. Not that it matters to me. We're all in the same wind and I ride what I like for my own reasons and enjoy every minute I spend on my F3L.

I was on twos for 15 years. My last bike was a Suzuki m109r. It was my dream bike. I had a bad wreck on it. My wife wanted me to quit riding altogether. So we compromised and she agreed to the Can Am Spyder RTL. I planned to ride it for a few months and get her to ride it and I would go and buy another m109r. After 1k miles or so, I realized how much I enjoyed it. To be honest it took me much longer to feel comfortable showing up on the biker set riding the spyder, but I’m good with that too.

I have peripheral neuropath in both feet, so holding up a two wheeler is out. Sat on a Honda trike and it felt cramped at 6'2' and 220. So I bought an used 2018 Spyder RT Limited Chrome in the fall of 2020. Love it and just bought another 2018 Spyder RT Limited. The newer one which is Asphalt Grey Metallic is going to be my winter Arizona ride. My original Champagne one is going to be moved to Washington as my summer Spyder. My Kawasaki KRX 1000 SxS gets trailered back and forth. So I will fly back to Az and ride it to Washington end of May / first of June. OH, and I am going to be 80 this summer!! Only other road bike was a 1978 Kawasaki KZ 650 SR in the early 80's.

Thank you for putting out good informative content. I’ve had a Harley for many years and still ride at every opportunity. But the last few years the wife hasn’t been comfortable on the bike for similar reasons you described. A friend of a friend was selling his Spyder RT, very clean, low miles, so I took the her for a ride and she loved it. She felt stable and safe. I must say it’s a very comfortable ride. Yes, there seems to be a negative stigma toward the Spyder but as long as I can get the wife out riding it’s a good thing.

The first time I saw a Spyder was 2009. I fell in love right away. Hubby said no way in hell. Now it's 2012. Hubby purchased a 2012 HD Dyna Wideglide. Great for him, but not for me. I had always wanted to learn to ride on my own, so I purchased a 2009 Yamaha 250 at age 55. 2 weeks later I crashed. I just couldn't get back on it. For me dealing with the clutch was just too much. Back to researching Spyder's. While on a ride in 2012, we passed a dealer and I made him turn around. The dealer took me on a 1/2 hour test ride. My husband said he could see my grin as we pulled back in at the dealership and knew it was over. A week later I had my new 2012 RT SE5. I rode it home 90 miles. It felt so natural. We rode together for 8 years, then we had to sell both bikes in 2020 due to his illness. I cried, both for him and me. He passed this year. 40 years together. I was so lost and felt I needed something that brought me joy. I purchased a used 2016 F3T. Again I rode it home 90 miles. Do I ride everyday, no. But I know she is in the garage and there for me when I need to clear my head. I will say this, the F3 is a whole lot different than my RT!

I transitioned due to injury sustained while riding two wheels. My wife transitioned to her triglide because she was more comfortable not having to hold it up. She bought her Sea to Sky because she rode behind me and she was so much more comfortable on my F3 Ltd and the RT fit her better. The she took her first ride on one.

Turning 79 next month and I'm getting ready to buy my first trike. I am beginning to have problems balancing when walking so for safety reasons the trike is the way to go in the future. Am planning to tour the National Parks so I'll be welcoming the extra space for storage. Still an HD individual so will be sticking with them instead of going to the CanAm.

Your initial impression is interesting. Mine was just the opposite. I started looking at bike options with an existing lower spine injury in which one leg cannot support the full weight of a two wheeled bike. First look at the tri-glide and I was like "nope, if you turn that front wheel sharp at a good speed, all the weight and circumference force will go where there is zero support". I then came across the Spyder and immediately loved the engineering concept. It's nearly impossible to high or low side. If I had to give a reason NOT to get one would be that my better half, who is disabled, now wants her own so it'll end up costing double. As far as what others think, well I always considered people's 2 cents worth of opinion can't touch the value of my own opinion...even if we agree, because the only opinion that really matters is my own.

I started on three wheeler’s in a very different way in the early 80’s. As my family grew from my wife and I to three kids I needed a way to take everyone. I started with sidecar rigs because that was what was available. I owned three sidecars and mounted them on several different motorcycles until the mid nineties when no one was interested in traveling with me any longer. I went back to a two wheeler until recently. I have one worn out hip and four years ago I took a fall on KLR and shattered my left knee. At the time I had a ZX-14 and my left leg never regained full mobility so I was unable to get into the riding position for the ZX. I traded that on a BMW r nine t that I hated. I traded the BMW for a KTM Super Duke GT which was a great bike that I rode from New York to Las Vegas in 2020. I loved that bike but it got a bit too heavy for me at 74. I traded it recently for a Can-am Spyder. I’ve only put a few hundred miles on it so far but I’m real happy with it. It handles a lot better than most sidecar rigs that I owned. If I were able I’d still have a two wheeled bike and I still own a KLR but it’s for sale. Thinking about a trip from Vegas back East for the summer of 2023. Also considering a hitch for the Can-am and a trailer so I can take my dog along for the ride. I pulled several different trailers with the sidecar rigs including a pop up camper that would sleep 2 adults and 3 kids.

Jonathan here, I was injured and didn’t have good balance for riding anymore. I was encouraged by my Spyder owning sister to look at Spyder’s while laying in the hospital with a broken back. I got out of the nursing home on a Friday and picked up my Spyder the following Monday in 2014. After the Spyder I went to a triked Harley and after struggling with trying to improve the suspension for three years, I’m happily back on a Spyder. 2020 F3 Limited. Friends who approached me about my thoughts on a Spyder now own one and now they happily ride as a couple. Last month another couple, friends also now are on a Spyder due to comfort for his wife. Lastly, my wife added a sea to sky to our stable in August due to a more comfortable ride over her triglide, which she kept. Lol, she ride the Spyder more.

I had a Kawasaki Voyager 1700 for ten years, before that I had Yamaha XV1100 for about five years. In between I had a Piaggio MP3 400 and I still have a Suzuki Burgman 650 so I feel I have a bit of knowledge and experience in two wheel machines. In August of 2022 I decided it was time to part with the Voyager. At 69 it was proving too heavy to handle at slow speed in city traffic before I could get out on the open road. I wanted to keep riding so a Spyder was the only serious option. Two wheels up front making for safety and stability and the alphabet of acronyms for all the safety features make it a joy to ride. It takes some in learning of two-week ways to get the hang of it. I'm Australia (;where I live) they are classed as a motorcycle for licence, registration and insurance. They are not learned legal and you must wear a helmet while riding one. I say forget all the two wheels, there wheels, scooter or bike stuff - ride what you like, what you can afford and what suits your life style. It's the ride not what you ride, how big it is or how fast it goes.

Found a used Triglide that I could afford and went that route. I like the look and the controls better at this point. Deciding factor was the nearest dealership/ service center is 40 miles away. Wouldn’t hesitate to grab a F3 if there is a next time tho. I’m too old to care who thinks what is cool etc. I m still a noob but I like being out there. Another good video coach 👍

After watching and listening to you about canam and TriGlide ultra classic. Well I love them both. Like many of us getting older with the desire to still ride around and feel safer and more confident. I purchased a F3 limited and loved the comfort and ease of use like no other. It was affordable and classy at the same time. Kept it for 15 months and my wife wanted me to have a Tri Glide ultra classic. I sold the F3 limited for the same price I paid for it Well the Tri glide is an amazing bike with power and the sound of a Harley. Did get instant respect it seemed on the Harley. Love it and have since moved to Oregon and it great riding here. If you can afford it in your budget get the Harley but if you feel the need to save the 10k get an excellent ride with the F3 or RT limited. Both great bikes and power assisted steering as well. The look hood and you will enjoy any of the 3 I have no regrets with any but glad I ended up with my Tri Glide. Side note I spent a lot of money on a Street Glide and it was to much for me to handle and balance. It was an expensive learning experience. Thank you for listening to my thought Jeff D

As a 50+ years motorcycle rider. Traveled U.S, Europe and Asia, I had no intention of three wheels. Once second in April, I fell my knees ga e out. I am over 70’s and I tried to ride my bike to October Fest and found I could not safely get on or off. I know a lot about all motorcycles and though of adding a side car or standard trike. But, Can Am is a better design and I can enjoy being out. My wife took my first Can Am, see fell in love with it. (2015 RT Limited). I went out and bought 2020 Can Am RT Limited. I still miss two wheels , but also miss milk shakes, can not have everything in your last 25 years. Enjoy what every you ride, keep rubber down.

I'm 65, 5'3", 130lbs (I'm small) and I wrote off my Honda Fury 2 years ago. I now have screws and rods in my leg and ankle. While still on crutches I took a Can-Am Spyder for a roadtest and was hooked. I had looked at convertible cars but they don't have any of the benefits of motorcycles and what would I do with all my gear. I'm totally healed now but with the confidence, stability, safety and fun I have on the Spyder, I'm keeping it. I do miss my Fury, the power, sound, modifications, ride and leaning in the corners, plus the culture of cruisers. But the Spyder is more forgiving, easier to handle, no fear of dropping it and not being able to pick it up and it gets lots of looks. I'd like to find other Can -Am riders but I'm enjoying riding my Spyder while I look. Peace, David, Vancouver Island.

Health. I was off 2 wheels for 7 years. I've had my '21 RTL for a year. About 7500 miles on 42 different ride days. After 18 months of life changing events, my RTL marks my personal renewal. I'm not shy about telling people the pros, cons, and out the door costs. I guess I'm spoiled. Cruise, heated grips/seats, what's not to love? Not one regret. Those who scoff at 3 wheels, well, I don't interact much with. If it's not for you, that's fine, just don't project your nonsense onto me. I'm too old to worry about the ignorant opinions of strangers. It's very different than 2 wheels, for those interested. I've had more people ask about the Spyder than any other bike I've had, combined. I'm 61, started riding at 15. As always, my best to you and Coach V.

I had a brand new 2012 Gold Wing. Had everything but the airbag. Had it a year, traded it in for a BMW F700gs. Why you might ask? Well as much as I loved the cruse control, heated handle bars, heated seat, the sound system, The GPS, and how comfortable the seat was. I did not like how reverse worked off the starter, and I could not drive it off pavement. But the big reason I got rid of it. I dropped it 4 times at stops. Each time I dropped it, I was the only one there to pick it up. Broke my foot picking it up once. I was so afraid every time I stopped that I would drop it again. I am now turning 70. I want to keep riding, not ready to give that up yet. I am to the point, it is getting hard for me not to think about dropping my BMW. So for me it may be time to start looking at a three wheeler. I hate to say it, but the Can-am look cute.

So much to say on this one Coach. As probably one of the few who went from 2-wheel to 3 and back to 2, I have a a different perspective. I had angry messages from both sides of the camp when I switched and the switched back. The Harley side was brutal. Surprisingly, so we’re some folks from the Can Am side lol. My F3 was flawless, trouble-free. The 2 HD’s I had were also. I switched because I felt unsafe/unstable with my wife riding on the last HD. That thing was terrible all the way around. But trouble-free. The Spyder was fun and comfortable but I missed leaning in curves, the roar of the big v-twin and the overall feeling of freedom the 2-wheel gave me. My wife actually said the same thing. Father Time is ticking too and this perhaps is the last time I’ll buy a 2-wheeler. 10 years from now, if I fortunate enough to be relatively healthy, I may not be able to ride on 2. But I can still hold my 2-wheel beast up and am loving it. My wife calls it my girlfriend lol. You made excellent points all-around and I couldn’t agree more.

I've always wanted a motorcycle. Growing up in Wisconsin, I lived right down the street from a large Harley dealership. Got to see the 105th Anniversary ride right past my apartment. I never did it though. As years past I was just more hesitant in fear of being a defensive driver and all the crazy car drivers. Fast forward many years, I live in Arizona now. In 2012 though, I was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy-Pompe. Thanks to getting enzyme replacement therapy every two weeks, I have been pretty stable in its progression. I started having knee and lower back issues and it becsme harder to get in and out of it. My sweet husband has always had motorcycles since he was a teen. He decided that it was a good idea to trade it in for a 2023 Freewheeler being easier to get on and off. He didnt consider that i have never riden before. Let me tell you what a disaster and a hugh learning curve. I hate it have had it a year and i still havent learned to ride it. I started looking at the spyder and went to the dealer and i test drove it. I felt so comfortable on it and could easily ride it. My husband is now trying to sell the trike with only 1100 miles on it that he has put on mot me. He rides a 2023 Road King . We are currently trying to sell the Freewheeler so we can get the spyder. Just got our 2022 Spyder RT Limited in Marsala Red. Not sure what a Marsala is, but it sure is pretty! Traded in our 2021 HD Road Glide Special just last week. After. 2000+ mile ride to Sturgis & back, I had to face the reality that I can no longer hold up a large 2-wheel, fully loaded bike & maneuver it safely at slower speeds. Having spent some time on a HD Tri Glide, I considered a Spyder as I didn’t really like the Harley. We’ve now got 600 miles in the six days we’ve had it and we are both happy with going from 2 to 3 wheels. My only regret to switching to a Spyder is that the infotainment system is crap compared to the Harley. Yes, I will miss 2 wheels, but I’m happy on our new three-wheeled starship we’ve named “Jean-Luc”.

I think the best reason to ride a 3 wheeler is safety...no way you can drop it or tip it over. The main reason Is others on the road are incompetent ... it's safer to be on a three wheeler. Have you ever found a survey of how many 3 wheelers wind up in accidents over 2 wheelers?

I have looked for the data on 3 vs 2 wheels... So far..I have not had any luck. I do think it is much lower though. Simply based on power to weight ratio and rider demographics, puts us in a much lower risk category. Thanks for the comment.

I switched to a Spyder from a gold wing that I put a trike conversion kit on. I’m 67 years old and when I rode one up on two wheels is was ok. When I added the wive my confidence wasn’t what it used to be. When I added the trike kit I didn’t like the steering. Love my 2019 Spyder RT. We have a good time on it.

I'm currently on a 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 classic. And a 2015 Kawasaki Voyager 1700. I'm 55 years old and my body half to death when I was young. I am fine writing either bike solo. But my girlfriend, who is a couple of days older than me, 😄, and had never ridden motorcycle until last year. Finally got one motorcycle with me and fell in love with riding. I also enjoy having her on the back with me. But, I have a knee that sometimes, without warning, will want to give out on me. So I decided to get a Can-Am f3 limited. She says that riding on the back of it is just as comfortable as riding on the back of my Voyager. And I feel more comfortable riding herd on the back of the f3. Because, with that machine I don't have to worry about putting my feet down when we come to a stop. She also said that she likes the fact that the f3 is a lot quieter than my Voyager with the Vance & Hines exhaust. Therefore she can hear the music better. 😄

Never had a motorcycle and never thought of riding one until a friend of mine got a Spyder 4 years ago. Started thinking about it when I retired in 2019 and finally got my RT Sea-to-Sky this past May. And I simply love riding it! Eventually, I do plan to travel on it as I gain more riding experience. Cheers Coach!

Thanks Coach! Bought my Spyder because I like the stability and it’s different. I am a healthy 50 yr old that can ride anything. From my seat, I am motorcycling. Knees in the breeze and all. My wife is coming around, she likes the comfort but says it is not as cool as our other bikes 🤣

Coach Bob, I’m a bit older than you, but not by much. I suffered a stroke back in 2018. Recovery was tuff. I spent 4 weeks in the Hospital with 3 Brain operations. Spent the next month in a rehab center in Downtown Chicago learning to Walk and talk correctly again. The only thing that didn’t come back 100% was my balance. Thought my motorcycle days were in the history books. Then I wan in a Can Am dealer and thought, I’ll bet I could ride one of those things! All the safety features were exceptional. I still have my original street bike in the stable (1983 LTD 750 Kawasaki) loved that bike. My last street bike was a 1997 Honda Valkyrie. The wife and I rode the wheels off that bike. What a sweet ride. Very fast bike, 6 carbs, solid lifters, and a TBR Header exhaust! Sounded like a cross between a small block Chevy and a Porsche in heat at WOT! Miss that bike, but love my 2021 F-3S. Found it used with 705 miles on it. Sweet, saved a few $ too!

Ryker 600 is sweet. Last June I took the Can Am 3 wheel class where they used the 600's. Then I rented one for 2 hours and really enjoyed it. I never tried a 900 but the 600 seems it has more than enough power for normal travel needs.

I chose a CanAm Spyder because after learning how to ride a two wheel motorcycle in a parking lot, I just did not feel confident enough to drive among traffic. I love my Spyder!

I love the honest comparison. Are far as the factory produced 3 wheeled motorcycles I believe all your points are dead on. I would love to throw a Goldwing DCT with trike kit in the mix just to see how it compares. I would be interested in your thoughts.

Hay coach Bob on August 5, 2019 at the age of 66 I bought a 2014 Can Am Spyder RT limited with 7010 miles on it (now it has over 20,000 miles). On August 8, 2019 three days after getting my Spyder I when to Sturgis and after that trip I knew I made the right choice to buy a Can Am Spyder RT. Why did I buy a Spyder RT well for pass 12 years I've had knee issues and back issues and I had been thinking about converting my Harley FXRT into a three-wheeler. And after riding a Goldwing three-wheeler and a Harley three-wheeler I knew these weren't going to help my back. Now before I go any further about talking about motorcycles it's very important to remember it's not what you ride, it's the journeys taken that count the most. I have 1988 Harley FXRT with about 76,000 miles on it which I’ve owned for 29 years. I have a 1999 Kawasaki Nomad with about 13,000 miles on it which I rode until it lost oil pressure ($2400 to fix it so I parked it). Would I go back to riding two wheel motorcycles yes, I would if I could, but I would never give up my Spyder RT. I've always been a very defensive rider looking forward and very keep my eyes on the road and cars. Doing that I've missed lots of things on the side of the road that I have don't seen. I've always tried to anticipate what people in cars might do and what I would do to avoid them. Now riding on my Spyder RT maybe I'm just a little more relaxed and I was overcautious on the two wheel motorcycle but I find myself seeing things on the side road that I missed before on the exact same roads. I know that the Spyder is going to help me avoid being in an accident or save my butt when I need it to. After riding motorcycles for over 55 years, I could tell you many stories but I will stop here.

Another great video as usual. You truly offer some great insights into the Can Am world. I can’t compare the ride between a two and three vehicle bike, nor the ride by between a Can Am or a Harley trike since I’ve only ever ridden a Cam Am Ryker and Spyder RT. I’ve watched videos of the Can Am three wheeled motorcycles on KZread for years. Finally at the ripe young age of seventy, I pulled the trigger on a 2019 Ryker 900 ACE. I really like it, and we went on some good adventures together, but it didn’t really offer me the ride experience I was looking for. But my major complaint was that my loving sweetie would absolutely NOT get on the back of a Ryker. Period. And I really wanted to share some of my adventures with her. So it was not an overly hard decision, when the opportunity presented itself, to trade my Ryker in on a 2018 Can Am Spyder RT Limited. Do I regret making the trade? Not for a second. While the Ryker is and was a blast to ride, the RT offered me what I was looking for in a motorcycle. And the wider passenger seat with the nice passenger back rest gives my Sweetie the safety and security not present on the Ryker. She has accompanied me on a number of rides since and she has no complaints. I have no balance concerns, nor do I need to worry about these 70 year old knees and hips having the ability to hold up a heavy two wheeled bike.

I was drawn towards a Spyder RTL because of a couple reasons. 1. If I would drop drop a 2 wheeler (Goldwing, or any touring bike) out alone somewhere I’d never be able get it backup on my own and would have to find help. 2. I found that my Spyder RTL is so darn comfortable there was no comparison.

Yes,I fought with the Harley Vtwin shortcomings and unreliability. I also fought with the Rotax vtwin short comings and unreliability. Harley was worse for support from mechanics, nothing like being treated like an idiot biker to make you question your ride choice. That tech gave me back my trike with almost no oil in it to fix the problem rather that do anything to fix it. The can am tech always treated me right. Oh, if you wonder, in central Wyoming, choices are limited and becoming more so.

I had my eyes on a Ryker for a while then decided to try 2 wheels. I took the MSF course last month, got my M license, now I have a Honda Rebel 1100 DCT. I might get a Ryker at some point, or even better a Spyder. But as you mentioned I've been hearing about Can Am owners having issues then contacting BRP only to get no help. BRP thinking their crap doesn't stink is what would keep me from getting one of their products. Hopefully that changes because I would love to have a Spyder for traveling cross country.

Loved your video Coach. For me, it was either go to 3 or quit riding after 60 years of being "In The Wind". Service injuries finally got so bad My Ortho told me I could either keep my Road Glide, or my leg because of the deterioration of my knees, and the lack of being able to have a replacement due to a genetic condition. Add that to Degenerative Disk Disease and spinal nerve damage, I went with a 2019 Spyder RTL since I still can't quit riding...It's in my blood.

I switched from 2 wheels to 3 wheels two years ago. Reason, balance issues made me feel unsafe on 2 wheels. My primary reason for the switch was safety and still is. I love riding since I was 13yo and will continue to ride until it is no longer safe for me and/or others. I still have my 08 Road Glide and occasionally take her on very short rides. Comparing 2 & 3 wheels, I enjoy riding my Spyder RTL more than my Harley.

I love my spyder RT. At first I didn’t like the look but it grew on me. I’ve had my M class and 2 wheels for 40 years now. I keep my Vespa for in town fun. Had to add an after market seat just to be able to touch the ground. The spyder allows me to not have to worry at all about reaching the ground. I find the spyder much more comfortable and stable for distance riding. I also live in Ohio where the roads are total crap, loose gravel and pot holes. The 3 wheels means I don’t have to worry as much about sliding out in gravel. I did it once on a Kymko 250 scooter. I still have no idea how I managed to not drop that bike. I really Mike not having to worry about that now.

I got a 21' chalk gray rt limited. I traded a 13 Victory Boardwalk and the biggest things I miss are the sound of that rumbling v twin and a clutch. Semi-auto isn't my thing but easy enough to get used to. And the gas mileage kinda sucks. I needed 3 wheels because I'm getting older and was having balance issues holding up 80 ir so lbs at stops. Overall I love it.
