Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Disassembly and Tuning

The action on my new PM2 was stiff, so I disassemble and tune it to improve the action. ---------Find Links to Some of My Favorite Knives Below----------

    Another huge tip if you mirror polish those bronze washers the play will be sooo much smoother. It’s hard to believe but it makes that much difference.

    It’s incredible the difference it makes especially with the coated blades

    Thank you so much! I didn't realize the pivot tube thing was not a perfect circle and it was driving me nuts when trying to put mine back together.

    I like that you showed to just spin the frame instead of popping it out of the lanyard hole. You should definitely be putting some medium strength threadlicker on for the reassembly. Especially for the pivot screws. Thanks for the video.

    Why not oil before disassembly to see if that is all it needs? That is what I do and still factory assembled. Myself I would be leery of purchasing a para 2 used. Someone before you disassembles and screws something up only to pass his/her failings onto you that can't be corrected without new parts. Just my thoughts. Thanks

    That's logical indeed. My new pm2 was stiff out of the box. One drop of oli was all it needed, 100% difference.

    waaaay too much lube ... it may work but it's kind of a waste, and excess lube attracts all kinds of nasty gritty stuff. regardless, thank you very much for the vid

    I’ve toned it down some since this video. But having too much and then dialing it back as I got better and better was a good way to learn.

    I know this video is really old but if you by any chance still have those purple scales I would like to try and buy them.

    does it matter which side of the washers are toward the blade so long as washers are flat and knife opens ok?

  • @TripleEEDC

    @TripleEEDC

    Yes. The polished side should be toward the blade.

    That's what it seemed to me, there's nothing in a Spyderco and at the price they sell them it's a shame.
