A good comparison video you've done here, thanks. I just came from another reviewer who spent 3/4 of the video talking about the things they have in common. Then didn't discuss differences too well. Keep up the good work!
this was a very thorough and informational video, not to mention well shot. You're gonna do great on youtube!

Awesome review, very well done!!! So after intense scrutiny I purchased the para 3 FRN. in dark blue. I already owned the Dragonfly wave blade and the Manix 2XL and since I love all my Spiderco knives it wasn't a too hard a decision. And as always the I'm REALLY happy I chose Spiderco because the Para 3 is simply amazing and I've ZERO remorse for choosing it!! Again GREAT informative video, It reinforces my choice!!
Great video bro!

I got both and they are both great.
Great review and although I only own a Benchmade bugout I would definitely be open to buying a Spyderco!
Been carrying the para3 lw for some months now, love the thing but jus bought the bugout last week looking forward to carrying to as I will rotate these 2

I had the para3 but ended up returning it for the bugout. The lifetime warranty and blade replacement for the bugout gives me the set it n forget it mentality
The “spidy hole” is the LW’s biggest advantage and biggest flaw. I love opening it, but imo it just takes up too much room in the pocket. Length and thickness don’t affect me much but width is annoying when trying to reach past it for my keys, wallet, etc.

I own both like you; my Para 3 is in 20CV and my bugout is S90V. I like my bugout in the pocket as the It’s easy to carry; the Para 3 feels more slicer but seems to not take much to roll the edges as it’s so thin. Idk both are good options.

Great video. I’m leaning towards the Sage 5 LW for EDC. Benchmades scare me due to the seemingly countless stories of broken omega springs.

Never had a spring break but maybe that’s just a bugout problem. The bugout is just so flexible. The only way I would have a bugout is with metal scales. That’s why I chose the p3 lw. It just feels more solid.

Never had an omega spring break on me. Keep in mind the vocal minority is loud. No one's going to talk about their omega spring unless theirs breaks and it's extremely rare.

I just had one break on me. Have some Benchmades that are over a decade old and beat up with original springs in them but it’s my bugout that broke. I don’t care as new springs are cheap, but when it did happen I thought to myself “well dang, they weren’t full of sh*t”
Check out the Hogue Deka. You get CPM-20V steel in a similar lightweight package.

Would the para 3 make a good fifth pocket knife? One of my requirements is that the pocket knife needs to fit in there, because I'd like to conceal the pocket clip as much as possible. Thanks!

Own both, but my para 3 in s110. Bugout seems to be only for paper cutting and other light tasks, while para is for much heavier duty.

I was there before lol. Hard to decide. Para 3 LW for ergonomics , Bugout for sliceyness.
How long have you had your bugout? My omega springs broke after 1 month. I don’t worry about the compression locks of any Spyderco’s doing that. I used aftermarket replacements on my Bugout at the recommendation of a couple of my viewers. Nice video and comparison! 👍🏼

For what it's worth, I've been carrying Benchmades since 2007 or so (Mini Griptilians), and don't recall ever having an Omega spring break on me. That said, I've contacted them and had them mail me a couple pairs of springs (as spares in case I do experience a broken spring) as well as low-rider pocket clips for both Minis. Benchmade will mail them to you free of charge.

@@NaturalMystic69 well I sent my Hogue to them when that one broke. Crazy all 3 knives with Omega springs broke inside a year. 🤦🏻♂️ my hope is the replacement and the aftermarket perform better. 👍🏼

@@jd4edc for clarity, are you saying you sent Benchmade your Hogue to have the spring replaced? Or did I misunderstand you? Hogue is making the Ritter version of the Mini Grip now, correct? One of my Minis is a Ritter and the other is the plain 556. Both have G10 scales from “Igorded” from Blade Forums, as well as BM low rider pocket clips. He’s been doing custom scales for years.

@@NaturalMystic69 no I sent my Hogue Doug Ritter to Hogue, but bought AM springs for my Bugout and Deka lol. Sorry about that.
Jesus... How small are your hands? That Para 3 looks like a full.size military in your hands.
I THINK THE BUG-OUT IS A FAIR 65.00 KNIFE
For me definitely benchmade
Your hands being the size of a child’s makes these small edcs look massive
In my experience the difference between ctsbd1n and s30v is negligible.

para3 brutal 😎
It's the details that count, Maybe I missed it in other reviews or maybe you're the first one to mention it but I thought the PM3 lightweight was just cheaper steel and plastic handles were lighter than G10. Good to know it's actually missing the whole liner and wassher from one side.Completley changes it's value propostion.

It's still a better knife. Tougher. Th.e bugout feel like you can easily break it with your hands... Now the aluminium/ titanium/ copper versions are a different story. Metal scales completely transformed the knife and make it awesome
I own both btw
Para3 all day. In every way!
I have a PM2 and never really liked it. Bad blade centering, it rubs on one side of the scales when opening/closing and cant get it to drop shut easily without the pivot and scale screws being super loose. And its too difficult to fine tune. So i'm hesitant on a para 3 LW. But I also have a G10 manix 2 and its been my best spyderco and left hand friendly. But its just too big and heavy for EDC. But my bugout was my 1st benchmade and it's pretty much perfect. It just vanishes in my pants and even athletic shorts. Sometimes i forget to take it out. Easy to fine tune, left hand friendly, thin and narrow profile. Everything my manix 2 is, but half the size in the pocket and 3x lighter.

Agreed, practicality of the bugout is great. My Para 3 lw had good drop shut action with decent centering.

there is another aspect, warranty support, try to convince SpyderCo to replace or repair, forget it, the SpyderCos basically have no warranty, this company sucks for support vs BenchMade they will help and support quickly
Para great knife, but bad steel steel level 8 chrome
I have both. I recommend upgrading to G10. Both excellent knives, but in my book the warranty of Benchmade puts it ahead of Spyderco. I’d also recommend the Native 5 ahead of the Para3.

No more Spyderco. I’m over the hump on all their main models. It really just gets in the way and limits how you use it.
If you plan on actually using your knife do not get that bugout. Weak AF. Your blade will start wiggly around in 2 weeks. You want to have it with you to open letters and just okay with it? It’s fine
