Springfield XDS Concealed Carry Deer Hunt
Keith Warren takes his concealed carry gun to the deer woods for a KZread first! Watch as Keith uses a Springfield XDS Mod.2 chambered in .45 ACP to drop a doe in her tracks. The XDS may be compact for concealment, but that 3.3” barrel doesn’t stop it from packing a punch!

Very Impressed with the shot placement and terminal kinetic energy that pistol laid down. I think more hunters who carry should bring their every day pistol along with them when in the woods to compliment the long guns when the deer get in close.
I love how in your hunting shows you take doe's as well as buck's. There is a lot to hunting and you show it well. You make some great videos. Keep up the great work Keith!
Hell of a job brother. That .45 busted that doe pretty good!!
It’s such a beautiful thing to see someone in my age group that still gets so worked up on a hunt. I haven’t had the chance yet, but I’M IN THE WOODS BABY! 🎉 First time in years after falling from a stand 20 years ago. I’ve got a lot of work to do. Hope to be strong enough to hunt with long bow next year. But for now the 44 Mag will do👍🏼fun video
That's awesome, I've always wanted to get one with my carry gun
Great shot with a carry gun! Not a fan of Springfield, but cool to see that a guy can take what they've got on them and go straight to a deer stand.

Trigger Reed apparently you didn’t see all the BS Surrounding the 50 bmg doe kill, and how he claimed the bullet missed and killed her from the shock wave

Keith Warren thanks brother! your videos have helped me through 10 tours overseas. I love fighting for freedom but it’s so bittersweet when I miss deer camp and miss my family during the fall season. But thank God for your channel and KZread! I get to tune in and get a piece of Texas all the way across the water. Great thing is I just got home in March from Iraq again and will get to chase some venison in the deer woods this season. Again Thank you sir and God Bless.

The Hide I saw the video and it was a marksman headshot right through the eye. I recall him rectifying himself and stating that he was aiming for her head. And his superb marksmanship humanly killed her and saved all the meat. I’m having a hard time understanding the BS you are speaking of? As a designated marksman in combat we used the .50bmg and trust me there is no tracking job when the round connects to target. Ethical and humane execution.
As you know there is a lot more to hunting than just the killing of an animal, I love how you give information, mingled with the actual hunt, which is far more interesting than just an information video and is a great way to see the equipment in action! Great videos Keith! P.S. Ever thought of hunting wild boar in Canada?
@HighRoadHunting

I didn't know there were hogs in Canada

sure are, harder to find as they haven't grown into an as much of an issue like down south, but you can find areas were there are herds. Actually a short way from where I live there is an African style hunting ranch specifically for hogs were people can rent out a cabin and hunt. wildboarhunting.ca/

Amazing and very,very good shot!!!!!👍😎 Mr.Warren!!! My greatings from Chile friend!!!..bay😉
Amazing video!
My wife loves her xds .45, great little weapon.
Love your channel keith!! handgun hunting is my favorite, hoping to get a deer with my new 454 ruger this year!!!
AWESOME VIDEO. Can you either post some pics of the wound / wound channel or do another video and show us what the performance of the Bullet done after impact. I’ll have to say, I WAS VERY IMPRESSED AND SHOCKED
I Just Added One To My Conceal Carry And Love It.
Excellent Job!!!
Great shot
Awesome video. You truely made the viewer feel that wr were right thete with you. Very nice firearm and ammo. Excellent...
Nice shooting and a good shot too. Have a fine week. 👍🏽🙂
That was a great shot 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I like that handgun love your style.😍🇺🇸
Hey man congrats! What a beautiful little pistol lol and you're definitely right i don't usually see this kinda stuff great video keep it up!
Nice shot man
Absolutely love it!!!! This is one of my favorite carry guns as well. It's hard to give up the 1911 some says though. Did you see they finally made a 10mm in the xdm line also!
@thornyturtleranch6152

That xdm 10mm made me drop from 5 glock 10mm to just 3, 2 @20sf and one at 29sf. Probably I'll hunt with it, on my property where I have deer all over the place.
Good Job! from Poland
nice shot placement!
I've been interested in the idea of subsistence hunting with 'the gun you have', but haven't seen much content on the subject. My little Mk1 XDS is a favorite of mine, and the idea of being able to use it in a pinch to secure meat makes it even better.

I’ve seen a 60 yard one-shot kill of a big buck with a 9mm Beretta 92FS. Your XDS can certainly take game if you need it to. Even a .22 will drop a deer if you shoot in the ear canal from broadside. And that’s a whole hell of a lot less power than any 9 or 45.
Looked like a spine shot. Had the same results with my SD40VE and 180gr Hornaday Critical duty. Dropped at 24 yards, in a ground blind. Nice doe. Good shot. Makes dinner.
@Glockshooter09

Jason Cox not a spine shot. Look right behind the shoulder
@midnightblue69
5 жыл бұрын
I slowmo'd the video and watched over and over, it's not an impact, it's a body shockwave, look closer. Plus not a drop of blood there, when he shows it on the ground there's nothing there.
@jasoncox4234
5 жыл бұрын
@@midnightblue69 I looked again and again. The back legs pulled forward together and then could not move. That bullet hit the spine on a forward downward angle and severed the artery under the spine. You can see the bend the impact dose to the deer. I have been hand gun hunting for years now. And even a 9mm with good ammo will drop a deer. Unless it is hit high there has always been blood at the entrance and exit holes.
@GroveBoy75

Yes 9mm will! But I headshot a 9pt at 23yd who saw me and blew me off tailing 2 does. Shot him with my Springfield XD9 Mod 2 between the left eye and ear, came out the right ear with a Critical Duty +P. I have him mounted. Shot him while driving up my driveway with wife and kids lol
@jasoncox4234

@@GroveBoy75 I did the same shot on a doe at 80 yards with my 10mm. Base of right ear and out of left ear at a dead run. Dropped like a ton of bricks. Nothing like handgun hunting.
Great shot.
Your videos are great
Nice shooting. Love your videos. I need to go practice lol
Nice shot. I like that pistol
I am confident my G32 shooting either 125gr XTP at 1500fps or 147gr XTP at 1300fps will get the job done without a spine shot.
Awesome video.
I have thos same pistol but with the stainless slide and I gotta say I love it! I shoot fmj's atthe range and I have some 230g Hornaday Hollow points for self protection. I know it packs a punch for sure but I've only ever shot paper targets with it. Thos video shows though she's pretty mean!
i have NEVER met Mr. warren, but i have been a huge fan since the Texas angler days and im here to say that iv never seen a more passionate and ethical hunter or fisherman in my life ! Mr. warren IS the real deal, he tells it like it is... he doesn't sugar coat it to spare your feelings and im ssooo proud to call him a fellow TEXAN, if you dont like what he does or his channel then please feel free to go and watch another channe, eat your tofu and whine and moan over what they do and leave this channel for those of us who love this country and what it stands for, love to hunt and fish, and our american way of life as Mr. warren does !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love that xds and the vid. I am thinking about hunting with a 45acp my self. How was the penetration? Was it a pass through? Thanks!
Can you show the bullet holes in detail please
Nice shot!
Clean kill, beautiful shot! thanks for the good video brother.
Awsome shot
Love your videos ! I shoot the Springfield XDM 40 and would love to see you take a buck with it . Keep doing a great job Keith
You’re a bad man Keith!
Thanks for the video. I think I found my new gun
This caliber is deadly!!!
Like your vids and hunting
Any recover on bullet? It would be a nice addition with videos like this if that were added/edited in.
Beautiful animal, beautiful shot. Glad she didn't suffer. I recently picked up this bad booger and shot it at the range the other day, it hit the steel way harder than i anticipated. Gotta love that 230 grain punch, hopefully I can test it on a deer someday or a wild hog. Check out underwoods 45. Acp, their plus p varieties feel like you're shooting a 45. Magnum.. if such a load existed

.45 Super is dimensionally identical, but higher pressures. Check it out online. Going up the food chain, there's .460 Rowland, a slightly longer casing with higher pressures.
Damn good shot!
Wow that dude is super accurate with that pistol
Great test! I carry one of these while bow hunting because it's a lot lighter than most pistols. I always think to myself is it enough... should I be carrying a 44 mag? But this gives me more confidence in my selection.
Damn this is a badass video and that fun reminds me of my m&p sheild
Hi Keith, great show, I've enjoyed them for years and years. I currently watch your video's on KZread now and I think that I've seen you on full30 as well? I lost the pursuit channel from directv because I don't use their hd packages. Because I'm cheap, lol. But anyway Springfield Armory now currently offers two of their full sized models of XD(M) pistols in 10mm. Remember 10mm is always the best millimeter 🔫 And Happy Hunting, Keith, God Bless!!

Howdy! You're correct, we are on Full30 now. Thats the beauty of online! I'm glad you get to still watch us! I'm looking forward to trying out the 10 mm, that is my favorite pistol caliber.
45 acp is my favorite caliber
You are one hell of a marksman sir...
That grip looks more comfortable. I have the first version xds 45 and it digs into my palm to where it's not fun to shoot more than a couple mags.
Good shot Keith! I think I'm going to stick with my 30-30 for deer hunting lol. We can't get pistols with short barrels like that in Canada anyways
Good shooting
People underestimate .45 ACP, but they really shouldn’t. Obsolete my a*s!
I'm surprised you carry .45 over 10mm after seeing you take down some impressive game with the 10. Those vids were among my original inspiration for switching to 10mm for my brush pistol.
@lordjor96

For deer size its ok, 10mm its better for larger game.
“By the power of Springfield... I HAVE THE POWWEEERRRR!!!!!”
Hi cool video! From the video it was hard to tell where the entry wound was, did you hit it in the heart or lungs? She sure dropped quick
Awesome
NICE!
Nice shooting, from billy Reeves daughters boyfriend!
Luv that shot but I’m partial to smith and Wesson especially their revolvers and M/P 2.O hard to beat them they are also very accurate..🦌👍
nice ,my conceal gun of choice,to bad not available in my state anymore.
Definitely gonna start carrying mines again 😳 45 acp is proven in this video one good shot will easily stop a threat.
Need to do a video now on a 40 s&w
Okay Keith I got a Ruger 1911 I'm going to try it tomorrow morning
Always doing things out of the norm. Try traveling the world taking all the world's big and dangerous game with the 500 S&W.
Nice shoot boy
nice shoot nice gun. i think i did the same with a little 9 mm cool video
I'm curious where the placement was. Judging by the reaction, probably a CNS shot? Spinal? Neck?
What kind of hollow point Winchester ranger t?
Was that a button buck? Thought I saw buttons
I have always wanted to go deer hunting but once they're in my sights am wondering if I can pull the trigger...
Isso e um tiro espetacular
THAT WAS A GREAT SHOT.
Nice shoot. Where did you hit it at? Looks like a spine shot the way it dropped.
Any good 45 acp + P with more than 4 inch barrel is enough to hunt even big game...
You are so cool
I love my ckec gun!
TRIGGER FINGER CONTROL !!! GREAT SHOOTING, BUT EASY ON FINGER PLACEMENT !!!
Where did you hit it
According to Paul Harrel .45 acp doesn't expand past 25 yards with a 1911. Because velocity of 45 is already slow. With this gun I'd say 10 yards max might as well use the fmj.
On my property the spot I shoot deer from is about 15 yards from my blind I absolutely love shooting deer with my 1911 colt defender. I think the deer aren't sure what's going on cause a pistol makes a different noise than a shotgun or rifle but a lot of times if I miss no matter how many are at my pile they dont seem to head for the hills either they run away for a few minutes and come back or they just look around at the spot and I'm able to squeeze off another round but they all drop in there track or dont get to far. Best hollow point that I've used is the tried and true hydroshock federal 230grain. Great shot on that deer
