    Happy to have stumbled onto this video. I am set to buy the first SA-35 that becomes available. Or at least I was. Just what I need is another totally unreliable pistol, seriously, thank you guys!

    I love BHSpringsolutions. They are honest to a fault and provide high quality parts and service. I called them once with questions about an older model I own with an internal extractor and spoke with Mark (I believe) for quite some time. If you want it straight regarding your, or any other, Hi-Power, these are the people to deal with. No taticool, rapid fire, heavy metal music showboating here. They show you the gun in all it's pieces and parts, their interoperability, weaknesses, and strengths - then proceed to show you how they improve it. As someone who is a big fan of the Hi-Power, I am watching the BHS assessments of the SA-35 closely to help me decide if it's worthwhile to buy one and make the recommended improvements. I trust them implicitly.

    Same here. Plus, with all I’ve sunk into mine, I’d need a VERY compelling reason to part with it. The SA-35 doesn’t appear up to the task of providing such a reason.

    The only thing I had to do was replace the extractor when I initially got my tisas since then then it works flawlessly I have one failure to feed every 500 rounds or so its extremely accurate.

    @@PaulG-oc2ct I turned mine into a project gun and ended up replacing every part except the ejector and the grip screws. It’s now got a C&S no bite hammer, fiber optic sights, a BHSS threaded barrel, Garthwaite trigger, front slide serrations, and even a picatinny rail. Has a nice 4lb trigger pull and it’s my favorite gun (and I own a couple 1911s).

    The current SA-35s are performing reliably well. The extraction problems have been fixed. My serial number has five digits. Don't like the fact, to sell their products, BH claim the pistol is not safe enough, so they changed out a couple of factory parts, with their BH parts. That's BS. The stock factory SA-35s are safe already. Nothing wrong with upgrading you pistol to look more attractive to the eye, but all their enhancements are not necessary.

  • @garyomalley4521
    @garyomalley45212 жыл бұрын

    You're the only one of over 15 review videos to have this problem. Usually ejection issues in EARLY models occurred after over 700 rounds. All videos of later models functioned through 1000 rounds.

    If I have a problem with a new firearm it will be sent back to the factory. I’ve had to do that a couple of times with reputable companies and have always had great results. This has always been my procedure even though for years I had an extremely well known gunsmith as a friend and next door neighbor and friend. His name was Bob Dunlap, known to most in the firearms world as Robert. Do not send a factory new weapon to anyone that is not authorized by said company for issues on a new weapon as any modifications may void the factory warranty. JMHO!

    @MrVulcan19632 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your good faith effort testing a stock gun. Its performance was shocking and you were right to discontinue the test. This failure to extract seems to be an Achilles heel for the SA-35 that Springfield Armory needs to fix. I was wondering if the chamber dimensions are accurate too? Regardless this makes the BHP look bad, as my 93 MkIII has been faultless except for two occasions where I shot hundreds of dirty reloaded rounds without cleaning it.

    Even the cheapest hi power I own...an FM Argentine Hi Power...is significantly better out of the box. FMs can be picked up for $500 to $600 all day every day. It's sad because Garand Thumb, BHSS, and a good amount of other KZreadrs/bloggers have had the exact same issue with the SA-35. I was going to buy one, but I think I might just pick up another FM.

    So my FM Detective Hi Power went through their Masterpiece Maker Process this Fall. Every part except for the slide and frame was replaced, metal work done, and refinishing. Basically has every upgrade possible. Total cost was around $1200-1300...don't remember an exact figure. Probably that same ball park for the SA-35

    Their kit is $99 on gunboker. Obviously the bluing/grips are extra. My understanding is Springfield has addressed these issues. Just picked mine up (for msrp👍) and may order the kit. Not sure I want to burn through 300+ rounds in order to see if it has problems so I'll probably just order the kit and install when/if it needs it. Nice to have the option.

    I have seen several reviews as of late and I am less than impressed! Jesus, from finishing issues to FTE. Even at $400, I’d expect better. People have been paying North of $1k and it sounds like a gamble. I am waiting to see how EAA’s offering is. They told me mid month of December. SA needs to tighten up!

    Did you lube the gun? Maybe try that. I know you have the skill to do it and a company behind it but for your average Joe it's probably not necessary to detail strip and start replacing parts. When mine gets here this week I'm going to lube it well and run it hard. I'm willing to bet that will resolve any and all issues while keeping it in factory configuration and not voiding the warranty.
