Phenomenal manufacturer and an outstanding duty sized firearm. Ditto for the quality and rugged design of the Hellcat Pro. I’m at around 1500 rounds on my HC Pro and I’ve had 100% reliability. I can’t wait to add the Echelon to my small collection. Best tabletop review I’ve seen. I’m no fan of what SA did (for a week or so before backpedaling and apologizing) in Illinois, but HS Produkt is a phenomenal manufacturer.

The best review channel on youtube the table top gives a great view of the pistol. And the range review gives an honest accuracy test as the only way to evaluate accuracy is on paper targets. Unlike a certain reviewer that blasts away at steel's impressing no one. Great work Graham.

Thank you. We got to somewhat handle the 5.0 at SHOT Show last January. I wasn't impressed, the pistol seemed to not know what it was trying to be. I was really interested in seeing the action (how the gun works) but the Rok Island crew couldn't show us because "we don't have the tools for that". Aside from full-length guide rod 1911s the need for tools is a big turn off. At least with those 1911 guide rods a paperclip is usually enough.

I too am disapointed by the registration B.S. that Springfield is requiring for a manual, they 4th ammendment withers a little in my opinion. Excellent review and thank you for not hopping on the SA promotional bandwagon. Btw, my problems with SA concern their ethics, not their politics. I suppose one reflects the other. SA Is far too ethically challenged for me to detail here, so I'll be gracious and just say... I like this gun. We got one at my job during the initial release and Springfield gave us one for customers to shoot for free. I will add this one to the collection i just have to have a few chassis systems in my lil collection. The P320, APX, and Ruger American pistol all shoot great. Even if there aren't a lot of aftermarket accessories for each manufacturer, it's easier to do a deep cleaning for each to me at least by just popping out the chassis and really getting in there

I try not to let it poison my feelings about the channels involved, because I know they likely have no idea how big the launchh is, and all eagerly want to get in on those release-day clicks, but when it's a wave of shallow reviews all delivering the same talking points without really talking about the gun it can be very disappointing; leaving me feeling like I know no more than I would have from a 30second tv commercial.

  • @plantguy100

I'm very purposely a value oriented buyer and I appreciate your detailed approach. We all know the various foreign made pistols offer great value. The question I continue to have is what makes one pistol "better" than another and justifies greater cost? Springfield's striker fired pistols are perfect examples since they purchased a Croatian company, rebranded their product and raised the price. Did Springfield make improvements? For earlier models, I don't know. Certainly for the Echelon since it's their most recent. I understand why all steel or aluminum guns cost more and I appreciate the quality of metal alloys and polymers matters for durability. The quality of the materials used in Sig products for example, at least appear nicer than some others. Once you shoot the Echelon, I'll be interested to know if you think it warrants a premium to some other striker fired, polymer framed guns. Not to pick on Springfield, of course I have the same question about guns from HK, Walther, FN and many others. I'm beginning to believe for firearms, "value" is at least partly subjective; a question we can't fully answer before shooting the gun to see whether we personally like the feel and accuracy.

Springfield didn't do any job on this one. They're a customer/importer and nothing else. Springfield has never developed one single firearm. The Echelon is a product that HS developed ENTIRELY on it's own so they could finally successfully compete in the LE/MIL markets. I believe the Echelon has been offered on the European market since early this spring. No, Springfield was offered a chance to sell it in the USA and they jumped at it. I expect they really don't have an option since HS only has so much capacity...
