Really cool to see you dive deeper into the low key Japanese brands. If you like LGB, give GOA, Yasuyuki Ishii, and Kmrii a try!

Definitely would love to! I’m familiar with some kmrii stuff and it’s definitely up my alley, need to look into ishii

@@LOWluxury be careful when looking for clothes from GOA or PPFM, many people overcharge for their clothes when they are the Japanese equivalent of GAP and Abercrombie... i like their stuff but its unfortunately very taxed right now. Some other cool brands worth looking into are Nemeth and LAD Musician

for the elastic issue on the BBS pants, it might've got slightly overstretched and damaged. I had the same thing happen on the elastic cuff on a jacket and at first i thought it was tangled. a good tailor can replace the whole elastic with most likely a higher quality one. awesome vids btw

Thank you! I think that is the move, to open it up and have it re-sewn after fixing the issue. I’m *pretty* sure that the drawstring has wrapped around it so many times that it’s impossible to undo without getting in there’s but you’re right, it’s possible it’s the elastic itself.

I think alot of the mainline available balenciaga is mass produced in china, sneakers and accessories. I’ve heard the garments are produced in china but finished in Portugal and tags applied in Italy. Idk how true that is though.

The degree to which Balenciaga has normalized the idea of making their stuff in china is honestly pretty irksome to me

@@LOWluxuryit’s like a total deschamps style move for a luxury fashion house but very worrying and inherently bad. On a conspiratorial level the cia or Chinese government could be involved.

how do you know which archive pieces to buy. i sometimes see what i thinks a steal and then i have to look up the same item on grailed and see if i can flip. there’s such little information about these niche brands out there, i refuse to believe people know the ins and outs of pricing for items etc, i’m just a noob tho.

That’s a good question and it really is purely an experience and research thing I think. Like, I’ve spent sooo much time with ERD stuff that I can look at a piece, even if I’m not familiar with it, and have a good idea of the value because I know how that market works. But if it’s a brand I don’t have that level of familiarity with I’d def look it up. Really important though is to look at sold pieces - don’t just look at what ppl list things for and assume that’s a fair value bc it may be very overpriced and that’s why it hasn’t sold!

What's wrong with made in china(as long as it's made in good factories)

  • @LOWluxury

My reply is not showing up, maybe it is for you but Ill just respond again. There is nothing *automatically* wrong with something made in China, but it is generally a shorthand for it being made more poorly or in poor conditions. Of course, something made in a great Chinese factory is better than something made in a terrible Italian factory, but both of those things are outliers to a degree. It's kind of like polyester - sure, there are incredible Issey Miyake polyester pieces, but it's just a fact hat it's a pretty cheap material. It's all generalities, but if you don't know the specifics of a given factory then sometimes generalities are the best you've got to go on. There are totally great Chinese factories but if I have the option of getting a piece that was made somewhere with stronger labor laws, I'd prefer to get that. There's a reason Who Decides War chose to make the piece in China, and it's almost certainly because it was the cheapest option that still gave them the type of product they wanted. If they could have made it in USA or Portugal or Italy or wherever and been able to sell it at a reasonable price, I'm sure they would have.

@@LOWluxury I've heard about terrible working condition in some factories in Italy - the one Gucci used to use So this issue isn't just with China . The fashion industry should be much more transparent about labour conditions.

@@fixed6354 Totally, the state of things overall is much worse than it should be, and we should want more - one of the reasons why I think a decent *first* step is to be aware of the country of origin. We've heard of those Gucci examples because they're usually outliers in a country with a usually-solid standard of living. Zooming out a bit from the China vs. Italy angle, just look at Bangladesh which is the maybe the worst of the worst. Things happen in factories there daily that would be nearly unthinkable in 99.9% of Italian or French factories.
