Spring Harvest of Fall Rye
Spring Harvest of Fall Rye. Fall Rye is a cover crop that was planted in the fall of last year. We left it throughout the winter months and allowed it to grow through the early spring. In the third week of May, we were able to cut the field to produce a spring harvest. This produced an extra 69 bales of 5' feed to provide high protein to the livestock over the next season. This cover crop allowed us to produce feed prior to planting the crop for the upcoming fall. This is allowing us to produce more with less land acreage needed.

Yes it’s been dry for sure. Just bouncing between finishing up planting and right into the hay. Rain is coming within a few days due to high heat with humidity. Hopefully we can get all first cut done within the next few weeks. Hope you’re getting yours done too 🙏

I wish for rain for you in Tunisia 🙏. We have had warm weather for past few weeks and we are expecting rain tomorrow and sporadically next week however the forecast has been changing frequently. Somehow things will work out ❤️
