I love good leather belts and silk scarves. The oldest item in my wardrobe, almost 45 years old, is a tan leather belt that I still wear a lot. This is seconded by my 40-year old Dior wool winter coat. It was a splurge, but I wore it every winter day for my entire career and it still looks brand-new. The quality of apparel was amazing in the 80s-90s, I miss it. As for figuring out what to wear, I love simple, natural-fiber, dresses, I just add shoes and accessories I love, and my outfit is done (and comfy).

Got you beat, I have a coat I bought at the age of twenty, I dare not say how young I am now....lol. Like you, I also love silk scarves and quality belts. Make that quality everything, that I have taken care of for a lifetime. I even have an outfit my mother used to wear, but she was tiny compared to me. I love Beth's ideas, she's such a classy lady!

@@sjordan7085 : I'm similar as have a classic style midi, black 'n white, tweed (winter) coat that I purchased when in my twenties (am now 76) that has the most beautiful red satin lining. Originally it was maxi length with a hemline trimmed in real fox fur, as so was its removable collar. One of my sons who is a merchandise buyer for a large retail chain agrees that the quality back then for just every day wear is now considered extremely high end. Oh, they were the good old days when one really got quality as well as workmanship for your mere $$..,.. 🥰.

I think it all depends on you and your personal preference. The good news is we have lots of choices in the 21st century.

I am a blazer/jacket fanatic! I love a denim or denim style jacket over a dress or skirt and I love how blazers can dress up or dress down an outfit.
