One of the reasons Marie Kondo suggests taking every piece of clothing you have and gathering it into a pile is so that you have an understanding of just how much of a type of item that you have. It is really overwhelming when you realize just how much stuff you have and that's kind of the point.

A good trick I use is to turn all my clothes inside out and if I haven’t turned them back for 3 month because I haven’t been wearing them they have to go. Really enjoyed the video btw. I love sorting out stuff

It would have to be extended to over a year for me since where I live we need seasonal clothes. But that's an amazing idea.

I've actually just recently gotten rid of 80-90% of my closet. Partly because I've recently lost 50 lbs and they didn't fit anymore and partly because about half my closet was stuff I haven't worn since high school and I know I'll never wear again. XD So my closet and dresser are quite empty now but I actually like that, cause then I don't have too many choices to chose from and I know it's filled with clothes I love.

I need to take notes from you!! I love the idea of having less clothing, but somehow I am super slow at making it happen. Less clothes = less mess! 🙌🏻 I'm tryin to make a habit of consistently going through and paying attention to what I'm wearing vs. not wearing. I hope to have a closet like yours one day and adopt more of a minimalist perspective. One day it shall happen!!!

Before I lost all the weight, and before my mom gave me my old clothes again, I made sure to look through my stuff once a month. If I didn't wear or use something in that month, it means I will most likely never use it, so out it went. Even with all my clothes, I realized that I was wearing the same few shirts over and over. I've managed to get it down to a couple of really nice clothes for when I need to wear something nice (which rarely happens but it does every so often), a couple sweaters for when winter comes around again, about 5 shirts and a couple pairs of pants. I mean I mostly use my dresser for storing my games and important documents its so empty.

So satisfying. My tip: take outfit of the day photos every day for a few months and you'll quickly see what you wear and what you don't!

Don't toss anything fabric. There are stores and organisations that accept anything made of fabric to give it new life. We don't wanna keep literally filling the ground with clothes that we just throw away

Just so you know you are my main cleaning motivation. Literally watching your cleaning playlist while cleaning lol. Thank you for posting I have trouble staying motivated.

Not gunna lie, it was a huge selling point when my husband and I bought this house. Pretty sure the original owners cut into one of the guest bedrooms to make the closet this big, but I'm not mad about it cuz we never have guests haha!

I just finished that book as well and went through my closet recently! Such a good book. I couldn't quite visualize the way she said to fold so I'm glad I saw you do it a few times. I'll have to try it out! Thanks!

Love your closet! This was very helpful & inspiring.

I organized by shade and within the shade I put short sleeves first they long. They my jackets are in the back organized by color and seasons.

I’m still trying to get through cleaning and unpacking with my room.😂 just got all my shoes finally and soon to organize my closet since everything is now there. Like years ago when I had walk in closets(2 different houses) I used to organize my clothes by texture, style, and size, then now I just organize them by color and it’s a lot easier than I expected lol

I used to organize my closet by color in my old house, but I had a bigger closet there. My new closet is organized by season and my clothes are separated with different color hangers too. It works better for me in this much smaller closet since I don't have space to view by color. It's easier to find find by season

So many great tips! I'm about to start my spring cleaning and this is really going to help. Especially the tip about the Swiffer sweep pads - I never would have thought to use them that way!

I organize my closet by Roy g biv and then in each color section I organize by sleeves so like spaghetti strap, sleeveless, short sleeve, and then long sleeve. Works best for my brain.

I knoooowwwww it's the one area of my house I struggle to declutter. I legit can get rid of anything, but there are shirts or dresses or what not that I might wear in my Aunt's dog's wedding 10 years from now 😂😂😂😂

I organize my closet by color and then short sleeves in front of long sleeves. I also do it seasonally, so the stuff I'm not going to touch at all is in the back of the closet not in my way

Please recycle clothes instead of throwing them away. You can do this at H&M and recycling facilities.

I know this is old but try to recycle the clothing yourself or find legit organizations or charities for donating/ recycling H&M uses 2% of the stuff that people donate so the rest they probably throw away themselves
