Spring 2021 Track Day With Dad In The Jetta VR6 At NYST

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

First outing of 2021 on May 4th, running the Cooper Zeon RS3-S tires that gave out during the last track day of 2020. These tires got a low 1:52 in their prime, but I was just happy be there on this day.
My 92 year old father is riding shotgun in this clip. As we go on track, you can hear one of the officials he made friends with yell something about skydiving my dad did a few years ago.

You get any heatsoak on the intercooler at the track?

It's N/A, but the cooling system does soak by the end of a stint. Gets up to 210°F even with the low temp thermostat and the 2nd radiator. It's fine with it, but I'd think it should do better with the "desert cooling package" with 2 radiators and 2 water pumps. Never on the street, even with extended misbehavior, does it ever threaten to hit 200 even on the hottest days. It takes this kind of track driving to build up so much heat.

@@davesworld2132 I don't know. It's a stock ECU making no codes it shouldn't be, so I have to assume it's within stock specs. I certainly give it plenty of opportunity to get mad, but it's always happy.

@@Fopeano The reason I ask is you might have some room in your air fuel ratio to run methanol injection. It will help with those temperatures.

@@davesworld2132 While I'm totally into it when the time comes, one of this car's great benefits now is the ECU and engine mechanicals being stock with no tuning. It's good enough and too reliable to tamper with until it's time for some next level shit.
