Awesome video, probably learned more on this one that all others. This color lends itself well to being able to see the dry spots on camera.
Clear, concise, most helpful for this beginner just fixing my truck. Gave me a little more confidence on my gun set up for clear coat. Somehow mine didn't come out as nice as your but much better than it could have without you!

Very Good Video. If only this video would have been out many years ago. When I started painting, the paint store that sold me my first gun recommended having the paint volume opened all the way up. Needless to say, I had runs and inconsistent spray amounts because I tried to control the run issue. Thank you for putting this out! Us Paint Reps speak to all gun manufacturers and discuss proper gun set up. You turn your volume all the way out-with the trigger pulled -turn it in until you feel tension- From there you start to count turns in. I’m all the way open sometimes up to one turn in- we need to speak the same Language. Use the slowest Activator/Reducer you can handle. Spray in cooler conditions , 69f is perfect if you can get it. Heat doesn’t improve flow it actually creates Peel cause you have a tendency to overload. Spray with a faster arm movement, with 60-70% overlap. It will lay down flat. I tell painters to practice on bumpers by spraying quickly.

i just bought a devilbiss Dv1, My first decent spray gun, because i usually just paint small thinigs with cheap ebay HVLP guns, But right now im painting some car panels for my car, so want them to look decent... I layed down the primer and metallic basecoat real nice.... Drop coat on the base, and it came out absolutely perfect.... Clear coat on other hand.... Quite bad orange peel... I was 2 turns out on the fluid, at 29psi....... But i think i stayed too far away from the panel... I increased my distance when spraying the metallic basecoat.. So i think i automatically did that with clear coat too... could that be the main cause of the orange peel?

@@jimmyo5367 send me pics garagenoise247@gmail.com I believe your sealer might be having a reaction to the substrate. Are you painting over the sand orig paint or did you strip it all down? It may just be as simple as appling the sealer too wet on the first coat. Sealer likes to do that I always suggest a light coat to start with to introduce the sealer to the substrate. If their shallow fisheyes (i believe that's what they are) than most of the time they will dissappear on the second coat and won't affect the appearance.
Recently started following the Chanel and glad to find someone who shares there knowledge freely with others. When painting a whole car how would you recommend mixing enough paint for refills. Thanks

@@GarageNoise 7 at 40 psi or 90?
Hey Chris, I did a similar spot repair, but the edges of the basecoat were rough and gritty. I'm using the R500 at the settings you suggested. Does having High Flow fittings change the gun setup? Any suggestions would help tremendously. Thank you!

You really shouldn't need a flow fitting. Bump up your fluid spray a bit slower and a bit closer. Try that also make sure you tip is clean and there's no restriction. Hope this helps let me know.

@Garage Noise Thanks for the feedback. Your responses to comments are priceless.
Hey, quick question (PLEASE answer) I have an inline ball filter like the one you have in the video, and I was painting a car, and LOTS of wool like strands were popping up on my paint. This was paint that was very cheap, like $136 for a full gallon of red metallic basecoat cheap. However, I was wondering if it is more likely the paint or the filter? I have only used it a handful of times, although I haven't used it in about a year until today. Also how often should I replace these inline ball filters? Please let me know, thanks!

I don't think it would be from the filter. I've never had an issue. I change mine about once a month, but in the summer should probly change it every couple weeks. Appreciate your comment! Sorry I took so long to answer.
What’s the recommended air pressure for that gun? My manual for my old spray it Lvlp recommended 28-30 psi

How should i go about painting a very big rectangle shaped box. I would just do it like it was panel by panel but the edges top and sides are all rounded slightly instead of being a corner. Im suppose to keep my wet edge but idk how to go about it. Its 3.5 ft deep and tall. 2 feet wide. Big rectangle with rounded corners. How should i go about it?

Paint what you can the first go around and then let thise sides dry and paint the remaining side or sides and use foam soft edge tape right on the edge. A little polish of the soft edge after it dries
