Episode 29: WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game (Saturn)
WWF WrestleMania (also known on console versions as WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game) is a professional wrestling arcade game released by Midway Manufacturing Co. in 1995. It is based on the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) professional wrestling promotion.
The game featured digitized representations of eight WWF performers who are pitted against each other in fast-paced matches inspired by Midway's Mortal Kombat games. Commentary is provided by Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler, who also appear in the game sitting at the announcers' table to the right of the ring.

I remember finding this on the arcade machine and fell in love with it. 10 years later I found a PS1 port of it and still play it to this day!
At 5:40 where Vince McMahon went "BOOMSHAKALAKA!"? He got that from the old NBA Jam franchise, and it was normally Tim Kritzrow's line.
Remember everyone, this is the REAL Yokozuna.

I don't get why he kept saying that? What's the reference?

@@sheriffdraws8789 because it is the one and only REAL YOKOZUNA!
I played many WWF games growing up.There was a bowling alley in my hometown that had Wrestle Mania the arcade game. At the the time me and my cousin's were big into fighting/wrestling games. Years later I ended up owning that arcade machine.
Yokozuna looked good for a arcade style game
Nice, your Fink callout was great. RIP Fink
The reason that 1995's top wrestlers are not in this game is because the game is actually from 1994, thats when it was made. If you take notice of a lot of the wrestlers poses in this game you will see they are taken from Royal Rumble 1994, the way Shawn Michaels falls, the way Lex Lugar lays flat on the floor, the way Bret Hart poses with his forearm raised up infront of him, they all do those exact same things in the Royal Rumble 1994 PPV. I remember that being the first thing i noticed as a kid when i played this game

I see what you are saying but mo-cap began in 1993, at midway studios, and they didnt digitize any live wwf footage it was all done in california (theres a vhs tape with the process shown, hosted by bret hart.
Cool Paul bearer face on Vince McMahon monitor screen at 5:33
acclaim and midway were good partners working together throughout the 90's. acclaim had the ideas not just for sports related arcade games, but also for games in general. midway on the other hand has had games like blitz, nba hangtime, mainly mortal kombat games of course without question.
I used to play this game on the Genesis all the time, and figured out the easiest way to win the handicap matches. Use Yokozuna, pick up your opponents one at a time, and throw them out of the ring. It'll take away a quarter of their health bar and they'll have to climb back into the ring, which will give you time to throw their team mate out as well.
PSX crowd was very lively with Handicap Matches
this game brings back good memories. thanks for the great review
The only wrestling game, ever! That got yokozuna right.
I love doing The Undertaker's Jumping and Special ChokeSlam
The SNES VERSION had less wrestlers than the Genesis version for some odd reason. I had this game on the Genesis and my cousins and I had sooooooooooo much fun back in the day. Overall, I thought Brett Hart was the best. Use to do 35-40 hit combos with him

Preem25 I never pulled off any combos, and I played the SNES version so much growing up. How did you do that?

I used to pull off Razor’s combo so much fun picking you up by the legs and slamming the hell out of everyone

Bret harts top combo is 20 hits you can't do more than that, the highest hit combo in the game is razor with 24 hits

It was Nintendo's demand that RAM chips go through them, so they'd charge premium. Acclaim just made a smaller cart to save costs. So the SNES version is 16mb, where as the Sega one is 24mb.
Sega Saturn had more memory then the 32x. why didnt the Saturn or PS1 have more wrestlers

Stephen Sherburne because the original arcade game had 8 characters.
trying to cash in from mortal kombat? well you do know that Wrestlemania the arcade game was developed by the same company that brought us mortal kombat right?

He maybe didn't knew it lol I guess he lacks the knowledge from the game before he review it lol XD
great review dude
the crowd is stunned you had to face 3 on 1
Is the real yokozuna line an inside joke? When was there a fake yoko? I mean in 2018 at the saudi rumble event but this review was filmed in 2013
I've got this on SNES, Genesis, and 32X. I've been trying to get the Saturn version for years, but it's just so rare and expensive!! And for some reason, Yokuzuna and Bam Bam weren't in the SNES version, which sucks.. cause that's the one I grew up with and spent the most time with. Love this game.

Fire Thief saturn version isn't rare or expensive.
This was my favorite game back in time
GUTTED we never got a proper midway attitude era arcade game like this. Yea every thing had moved on and we where all 3d and stuff. But dammit, I want Rock, Mankind, Kane, Ministary undertaker, Jerico, and some Jerbronys.
Didn't Undertaker have a finisher, think only in the arcade , I don't remember seeing it in any of the home ports

In the SNES version he had a "tombstone", a head stone that he would use like a steel chair on opponents.
@BIGGIEDEVIL

Up Down up quick punch at the head of the opponent only in the arcade in the last round for the undertaker only
Mr McMahon and Jerry Lawler looked like oversized humans in this game lol
the real yokozuna in it ahahaha so getting it for the real yokozuna LOL
I had this on PSX always Loved this on PSX not Saturn
the crowd is much more animated then the playstation version
You forgot the combos. This game hasbsome sweet ass combos
...and it has the real Yokozuna in it... Probably the best line I’ll hear today. 😁
Super Nintendo Sega played theme music at the game with you favorite wrestlers at the end
I played this again today, couldn't figure out how to do Bam Bam's Piledriver or super move at all lol

Hey dude, haven’t seen you around in a minute!
i blame this game fore getting me hooked on wrestling
Good times
What's the 'real yokozuna' thing a reference to?
This was a great game
What is the music at the background
the best wwf game was the four player royal rumble arcade game
PSX had Wrestlers endings like HBK winning the WWF Title and being trampled to death by women and became a congessman , you had to beat the game on hard
I don't understand why they never made a part 2 to this just add more wrestlers to it

They did a second game like this, it was called In Your House. Exactly the same formula, but with a different roster (Shawn, Bret, Taker, Warrior, Vader, HHH, Goldust, Ahmed, Bulldog and Owen).
Btw will you review rage in the cage?
Nice Review ;) but... no combos? This game has great ones.
WWF WrestleMania The Arcade Game stated as a arcade game lol
PIN HIM!!!
Would like to know why they removed Bam Bam & Yokozuna in the Snes version.

They removed Yokozuna because he wasn't REAL in the SNES version
So all the complaints here are pretty much fixed in in your house yet everyone shits on in your house and loves wm the arcade game lol o personally love both. If I could have it my way I would have had them port wrestle fest to consoles! Now that's a WWF arcade game. And the visuals were incredible at the time. The mean Gene interviews between the start screen and high scores screen and the character selection it was great
you're forgetting the special fatality like pinfalls
@AmAxel35

Unfinished content, only Undertaker has his "fatality" and it looks unfinished too, lol. In Your House had the fatalities proper.

+AmAxel35 I honestly thought I wrote this on the In Your House review, because in Wrestlemania the Fatality pins could only be done in The arcade
but u didn't talk about the combos
Its a really fun game that coulda been better but things were limted back then
It was the shit to me
I still think Saturday Night Slam Masters was a better home port
they should have added mortal kombat characters

Yea that would have been cool and easy for them to do. I know this game isn’t super popular in retrospect but it’s actually my favorite of the 2D WWF titles.
