I run a 16' scanoe. 900lb easy. Been in big seas too. Incoming tide at Charleston. Big waves on the intracoastal. Wind. Rain. Yellowstone. Gulf. Decades of sun seen it all, still able and ready.

What motor combo do you guys run? Live in Ontario and fish lots of the same waters you guys do and this boat is truly perfect for everything!

This is a Suzuki 2.5hp and the trolling motor is a minn Kota endura max 40lb thrust

Have the same setup with the 2.5 and trolling, my sportspal has been through about 6 years of abuse. Like throwing all the hunting gear in it in the winter and dragging behind the truck on a gravel road down to the water. I got it used for 500 with the 2.5 and if I had to buy new it would be the same with the transom.

How does it compare to a fishing kayak for stability and ability to handle small waves? Considering selling my fishing kayak for a set up like this.

They are extremely stable, two of us stand and fish all day in it without fear of tipping. It handles smaller waves but cannot drain like a kayak so not the best option in big water or rough weather

Canoes are way better than a kayak, especially if you plan on being out longer than your 6 year old niece during a rainstorm. How much are these SPORTSPALS?

I've got the 14' with transom, it's possible to but it move a lot left to right. I used it for duck hunthing that way on a river.
