I’m a lifelong Leafs fan of 45years and have been watching Steve for the past 2+ years. I can honestly say his content is my favourite Leafs coverage anywhere, alongside the occasional snippet I get from other favourite commentators Craig Button, Bob MacKenzie, and the Chiclets boys. Unlike these guys though Steve is not an NHL insider (yet!) and is able to provide in depth cap/strategic analysis that builds out the Leafs’ big picture very well with a balanced fan take on the team…really refreshing in the Toronto market. It’s been tough on us DSB followers with his move to TSN and less content on the channel, but I wish you all the best moving forward with TSN Steve - thank you!

Part of the reason I love your content so much is how accessible and easy to understand you make advanced stats. Before I started watching you I never would've been excited for the Leafs to sign ZAR. If tsn wants to succeed, and they want you to succeed with them this is the niche they need you to fill.

As someone who’s been watching Stephen Brown’s content for a couple of years now, I feel obligated out of pure appreciation to speak on Stephen’s work. Objectively speaking, there is no one better on leafs KZread, or any hockey fan bases KZread for that matter, than this guy when it comes to producing digestible content related to leafs news and breaking down advanced stats and metrics, contracts in a salary cap league, as well as explaining the coaches/general manager’s perspective on speculative acquisitions. For example, when Stephen was looking at depth defensemen trade targets heading into the ‘21-‘22 trade deadline and he speculated that Lybushkin would be a great fit at the right cap hit… weeks before the deal went through and way before any TSN, Sportsnet, etc., insider was talking about it. This guy is like Justin Bourne on advanced stats, except he’ll break down the significance and help grow interest with new or younger fans getting interested in the game. He knows the modern NHL and will grow your viewership. He’s the real deal and it’d be a mistake not to give him a chance.

This guys a real gem , intelligent analyst , a good speaker , really adds a lot to the sports realm and a great disposition. Don’t let this one go

Easily the most detail oriented hockey KZreadr I see, researched and sensible theories. Fulfills a solid niche currently missing from NHL content.

Stephen's channel is one of the few gems of hockey content. Level-headed yet passionate, critical but fair, emotionally invested yet a meticulous and detail-oriented analyst. Stephen Brown's passion and love for sports and the Leafs bleeds through every video. There are few channels on KZread, and even fewer hockey related ones, that I follow as religiously as I do DownTown Sports. Any organization would be lucky to have Stephen. My only worry would be that if he was picked up, he would be posting less to this channel and I would see less of my favorite hockey personality. But, his dedication deserves recognition. Good luck, Stephen. I can't wait to see where your path takes you next. I hope more is still always on the way.

I absolutely love Browns content! Incredibly charismatic and appealing to listen to. Brown doesnt come across as arrogant or condescending. What is most important is Browns vast knowledge of advanced hockey stats and breaking them down to be easily understood. Then there is Browns passion for the Maple Leafs . I love his honesty about the team ,good or bad. Truly one of my favorite YTers.

I follow many hockey KZread channels, I watch stephens videos before anyone else. He is intelligent, insightful and well spoken. He has huge poise and doesn’t let his passion distract him, whether it’s TSN or somewhere else this guy has great potential and a long career ahead of him, I’m always recommending my friends to this channel.

This is all coming from a guy who doesn’t EVER comment on anything on KZread!

I've enjoyed the DownTown Sports channel for quite a while now. He blends information off the news feed with stats to explain in a very easy to understand way how this player or that player fits into a larger picture. His info has changed many pre-conceived concepts I've had about certain players over the last year and his channel was one pretty much my go to location during trade deadline. Incorporating a segment at TSN where he blends his understanding of the stats with the latest Leaf info/trades/rumours would be a valuable addition.

I’ve been following Steve for the last two seasons. He is always prepared, articulate, and honest. I find myself more informed about a topic he covers after viewing, without that feeling I’ve just been click baited. I believe he has a unique style that would only improve TSN’s product. Good luck to you Steve.

I'm not a huge analytics fan in sports. However Steve presents this data in his videos in a calm and thorough manner even I understand it.

Truthfully, this is my go-to KZread channel for Maple Leafs analysis. I find your knowledge of the game, the stats and numbers as well as player parings interesting. They matter. I also like that rather than just stating your opinion and then moving on, you dig a bit deeper and explain how you arrived at the opinion. Simply put…good stuff.

Stumbled across Stephen on my KZread recommended page quite a while ago and I’m so glad that I did. I can honestly say that I have not found a single person that can analyze the Leafs as well as him. He takes a dive into the advanced stats which most would find boring, but he finds a way to make them seem incredibly interesting. He really knows what he’s doing and I genuinely think that he has a serious future in this industry. I never even comment on videos but Stephen definitely deserves it.

Noticed Stephen a while back & started watching his content. Compared to other options, I found his work more nuanced, properly researched for the most part, interesting from the POV of a Leaf fan & not over-the-top shrill or artificially amped up over-enthusiasm as observed on other commenters platforms. Steven has a friendly face, great voice and with a down to earth demenure. In the 2+ years since subscribing to him, he is 1 of my favorite youtubers to watch in regards to leaf stuff & has a great balance of technical knowledge of hockey while being able to dumb it down for everyone to understand. Even if yourselves at TSN dont consider him for a position or spot in the sports part of things, he will continue to suceed here on youtube. :)

I think you have a good eye for the game and I've always enjoyed your takes. Too often content creators get caught up in the many narratives surrounding this team, whereas you always seem to take an objective approach with your takes. The way you provide your statistical analysis is easy to digest and unpretentious. It's a pleasure to listen to you speak; you understand when to add to a point that needs clarification and when it's best not to make the argument more convoluted than it needs to be. For starters, I am not Steve's mom, brother or any other relative. I am a long time consumer of the horrendous sludge, that is Maple Leaf reporting. Now Downtown Sports is my First choice for information, The information is conveyed in a professional manner, all facts and stats are verified in real time and opinion is given from a prospective of actual interested in the teams success. This is not cheerleading, when something is not working, that too is conveyed in an actuate manner . Without yelling or crying or the constant sniveling that " no leaf players are good enough" . Steve would be an asset to any media organization.

DTS is my favorite Leafs youtube going. He speaks very well, does his research and tells it honestly. You would be crazy not to hire him

I have two sides to my leaf fandom, the fan side, and the analytical, logical, and unbiased side. For the fan side of things, I watch Steve dangle. For the actual analytical breakdown of the game I trust no one other than this guy. Such detailed analysis on the leafs is unmatched across KZread. Whenever I wonder, “what’s going on with this player?”, he’s been able to answer it promptly and decisively.

Hey steven, here is my honest opinion as follows: I've been an avid fan of your content for a few years now and I very much enjoy it as you often make a lot of solid points and your good about walking viewers through the analytics of things in a manner that's palatable and easy to digest. HOWEVER, if you plan to get into the scene at a major network such as TSN you're going to have to seriously consider cleaning your look up a bit, such as a nice clean haircut, some professional looking attire, a solid pair of dress shoe's, and grip yourself a nice bottle of cologne. If you want to play the roll you have to LOOK the roll. You've got the skills, and you possess the ability: which is the most difficult parts covered. you just gotta turn in the sweatpants, baggy tee-shirt, and a ballcap look for something a little more sophisticated and serious. BEST OF LUCK MY FRIEND!!

This is an emerging market with lots of sponsorship money from the books floating around to get you going as you build up your paid subscribers.

The content on your channel is different from what you get elsewhere. Not too high, not too low but the way you add in the analytics is a deferentiator. I'd like to add that I'm an OG, found Stephen when he was pushing for 1000 subscribers. He offers something different than anything elsewhere
