What's hilarious is that he JUST KEEPS GOING. "Off the crossbar! ... Eastern Michigan with a big kick to tie it! ... 3-3!" I can't remember what game it was, but there was a Browns game a few years ago where the PBP guy was similarly clueless on a missed PAT. He even said the wrong score as they were going to commercial break when the proper score was on the screen.

Someone in the comments to a copy of the video explained it. He said that the University of Toledo stadium commentary boxes are on the sideline, and looking at it from the side angle, he couldn't really tell where the ball was. He should have looked at the play on the screen next to him, but instead he just looked at it live and got confused.

Romo was better at "guessing" the play per covid when he was able go to practice watch the formations of a team and what they were doing out of them that week. Once NFL closed practice he didn't have his crystal ball. I'm sure he will have it back next season.

The only thing I can think of is he got a sext message right when the kicker made contact with the ball and just looked back up when the ball was bouncing around and tried to cover for his being distracted by something not fit for broadcast.

@@wario1446 Yeah, that was a rare double-miss by the announcers. After he doubles, Joe and Tim talk about how conservative and safe he's going to play it on the bases. A minute later, Posada goes out to get a fair ball and Koo scores from second because nobody was covering home.

Nice! Tennessee-Notre Dame had a classic football game in the early 90s in south bend. As Notre Dame was kicking the potential game winner at the end but missed, the Tennessee radio call says “the kick is…. good! NO it is NO good!” 😂

I was two plays further into the video when it hit me. I rewound it to make sure my brain wasn't pulling a prank.

If you look up "Andrus takes first on catcher's interference" there's a clip of the Ranger's Elvis Andrus pretty obviously hitting the glove of the catcher, Caleb Joseph, resulting in a free first base. But the announcers just didn't see it I guess and kept saying that the call on the field was that the batter himself was hit by the ball. Similarly involving the rangers. There's an infamous umpire call doubled with a strange announcer comment when Joe Nathan threw a pitch a mile away from the strike zone which was called strike three to end the game. Watching the replay the announcers said, "Well the replay shows it was.... near the outside corner". I believe the clip of this one is called "Joe Nathan ends it on disputed call" on MLB's yt channel

Another baseball one that comes to mind is from the late great Harry Caray (although you could probably make a long video of his bloopers). A guy hit a high pop fly on the infield. Harry said something like "Popppppped it up. He'll never miss that one" and then must have looked away before it came down because the guy did miss it and the next thing you hear is Steve Stone saying "well, he just did". Haha They both laughed hard at that one.
