I had a first gen ZX6R as my second ever bike at 18 and I loved that thing so much that when I got T-boned on it I didnt buy the new model with my insurance, I went out and bought the same model year bike again lol. I rode from the UK all through france, norway and sweeden, germany, italy, etc. on those bikes and loved, loved loved my early 20's. A few years ago I got to missing the sports bike thing and nostalgia goggles got the better of me and I bought a 2010 ZX6R. That was about 2 months of incredible fun, and then.. basically i was zack and Ari half way through this video lol. For me it was my back. I'm pretty fit, never had back issues or anything, but the next day after an hour on that bike, holy cow lol. Sadly only had it about 6 months, not interested in going back now!

You guys are acting like you can only have one bike. Get the naked AND the sport bike. Everyone knows that the correct number of motorcycles you should own is n+1 where n= the number of bikes you currently own.

IKR, these people are acting as if they're houses are too small to house 2 or more bikes, or that they don't have the time to maintain 2 or more bikes. Plus if it's your first bike, you can just instantly buy BOTH at the same time, no need to wait to get the other one!

That’s what I’m looking at now! So even for around town driving you like it? I’m torn between that or an MT-10. I hear that is really comfortable and crazy fast. I’d imagine the ZX6R is a better track bike though. That’s where I really want to test my next bike.

I couldn’t agree more with you guys. Naked bikes are where it is at. I ride a 2016 Superduke and all my buddies on sport bikes hate me by the end of those long rides when they are hurting from head to toe, and my KTM has ran them down all day on their sport bikes.

+1. When I stopped riding on the race track, my '13 ZX-6R just sat in my garage (looking stunning!) At almost 50, I'm enjoying the comfortable ergonomics of an ADV (Triumph Explorer) which has tons of torque, and enough sporting ability to embarrass many a youngster on sport bikes. Folding myself onto a sport bike just isn't fun any more.

One year ago I got rid of my '08 R6 for a '15 ZX6R, and all the points you guys make about it being a better street bike are very noticeble

One thing I've Learned with riding my sportbike is Posture. Learning how to align your spine and stay loose at the wrist is critical. It's one of the hardest things to learn riding those bikes. However, if you manage to learn this technique, core and back strength goes up greatly and you get to a point where the bike virtually steers itself. It's truly is a joy to master this style of riding and use it for the distance. It just requires alot of patience and resolve. My best long distance trip was 1,788 miles threw the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains. Hands down the best Run I ever did. 700 of those Miles where done in the first 10-12hrs. Safety riding guys!!

Bill Bunch your welcome. Yeah when you straight your spine against the tank and let you but tuck out. You allow you body to rest against the tank if you have a big enough tank like the 636 which takes pressure off you neck and wrist. You should never be attached to the clip-ons /control hunched over like a gorilla with your fist point to the ground. That's just asking for pain. You arms should be so loose that anyone can slap them away. They should be at your side like you have a fork and knife. Just learning toward while maintaining a straight spine. Notice I didn't say straight up and down. If you do it right you will feel a TON of pressure on your spine will be relieved almost instantly. The second indication after that if you actually stay loose is the effort to steer becomes nearly effortless. Add proper body position for turning and it will be like you were never holding on to the bike to begin with. Feet on the rearssts but pointed down slightly to grip. Knees gripping the tank, and apply the rest for the straight spine and loose arms with the relaxed grip at the controls. Sounds crazy but you really aren't holding on much........ once you get it you will know it because everything just starts to work effortlessly.

I have to say, I loved my 03 636 but I quickly learned it was not the best for around town. I ended up selling it and going to a naked 04 SV650. Works great around town and I love the fact I dont have to disassemble the body work just to do basic maintenance on it.

I ride my 2007 R6 to work 45 mins, and home 45 mins, every day that it's 40 or above. The pain gets to me sometimes, but only barely. Today while riding home I thought "Will I ever get tired of riding every day? I've done it for 5 years and 30,000 miles and I still love it. I must be crazy."

Nice profile pic dude. Anyway i can relate to what you said. I drive a SV650s and it's not as uncomfortable as a 600 but the clip ons are still pretty low. After adapting for a short while because I'm commuting on it i feel really comfortable on it and i even feel kinda spoiled because it feels so much better sitting on that bike compared to any generic naked

@@rem362 do yourself a favor and when you are ready get an sv1000s. I owned both a 650 and a 1000 and the 1k is the perfect all around bike. predictable power delivery with super nice torque, and comfort that I could live with forever. Sadly I sold it last year because I am still young and in love with supersports. Now I own a 05 cbr600rr, 21 s1000rr m package, a benelli tnt 135, and a vtx1300. I still want to get my hands on another sv1k because of how enjoyable that bike was.

Your screenplay is always ON POINT! Get to watch content this good FOR FREE is such a privilege. Just keep up the excellent job, guys!

I have done this video for real! Passed my test. Bought a fireblade and loved it! But after a year I sold a bought a street triple R. I have way more fun every time I ride the triumph.

I gotta say I sacrifice comfort for the look of my R6 , I was going to get a mt09 but I just couldn't pass the r6.

Yamaha should bring back the FZ6R or maybe make a FZ7R/9R. Sport bikes with more comfortable ergonomics are still popular. They have some great engines rn they can compete with the Ninjas and the likes.

@@TommyAngelo1337 Although the FZ6R is super underrated as it is. Even though it's the exact same motor as the R6 and an hour in the garage removing the limiter gets you the same performance but better ergonomics. You can pick up a post 2010 model for around 3k if you shop around

Getting rid of my ZX-10 for a FZ-10 was the best decision I've ever made. All the performance but so much more comfort and utility.

I ride an old (but sweet) ´07 Fireblade and felt pretty much like the two of you on the R6 and 636 until I swapped the pegs for 30 mm lower ones for cruising. Can´t even begin to describe the difference, would never swap it for a naked bike, and for those track days, it only takes 5 minutes to swap them for the higher ones. Keep them great videos coming guys :-)

Great video. You guys summarized the last 20 years of my life in under 18 minutes. I'm 40 years old now and ride a Ducati Diavel. Best bike I've ever owned.

I have two bikes zx14r and a Honda 125 Innova. The Innova gets over 100mpg and is a hoot to right hard. After a hundred miles of sh*ts and giddles, it costs 2 or 3 bucks in gas. Why would I be sad?

I was wondering why you picked a z800 to compare but realised it was only a typo. I really appreciate what you guys are doing with these episodes. Informing everyday people of the difference between bikes and different conditions that they may be ridden in. These comparisons are really refreshing, especially compared to other magazines that just fang the bikes around the canyon roads, read out some specs and call it a review. Also appreciate you guys mentioning price and riding affordable bikes, not just tuono and s1kr, etc. Great job Ari, Zac, and the team behind the cameras, keep it up.

Sit on a few different styles and figure out how you will use it. Supersport motorcycles used to be the best thing going until the economic crisis hit and emissions rules got tough. I think they have gone the way of the dinosaur and wouldn't even consider one these days. I ride a naked and for a do it all bike they are perfect.

I test road the 2018 R6 and instantly fell in love with it, didn't test ride anything else (not my first motorcycle purchase though) and started to do the paperwork on it. Luckily for me it was late for the dealership and we had to push it off until the next morning but it gave me time to realize I was falling in love with it for the wrong reasons. I fell in love with it for the pure reason of it being a sport bike and the power it delivered. That night I watched this video and the next morning I test road the 2019 MT-09 (formerly the FZ-09) and knew this was the best bike for me. I do not regret my decision and my wife loves it as well. Its definitely an eye catcher.

Four sportbikes and not changing. It takes getting into "sportbike shape" which after a couple weeks is easy. I can ride daily with no pain or soreness, even half the day. At the same time, when I sit on anything other than a sportbike I feel super comfortable.

40 years on them, I ride at least three days a week up to 400 miles at a time all in the backwoods of North East England, my back and neck aches when I'm on an upright naked, its all about what you're used to and making sportbikes more comfortable, adjustable aftermarket rearsets are a godsend on sportbikes.

@Rata 4U It's all about conditioning. Thats what "sportbike shape" is. When I first started riding my forearms were insanely sore for like a week. All the pain stopped within a month and I can ride 3+ hours before starting to get a little tired.

@@jjsemperfi so stop tucking at highway speeds and you'll be fine. i mean, i tuck a little, when the wind is super strong. but only enough to counteract the wind. scoot back on the seat and lean forward a bit, and the wind props you up. you're doing almost not work. and when the wind is normal, you'll get used to it if you just stay upright.

I did a 8+ hour trip on a R1. Pretty much the same as described in the video, twisty roads, with some straight boring sections, but you know what? It was great fun and honestly not that painful. HARDEN UP BOIZ

Nice review and comparison ! That's why I have a 2017 Kawasaki ZX10R for track and a 2016 Kawasaki Z1000 for street. It's a no brainer !

Awesome informative content guys once again. I started out with a Naked Bike thinking I would never do a super bike. Until I bought my 1199 and definitely still hold a special place for a full-on Superbike but I always venture over to my naked bikes to ride on the street before the Super Sports. Merry Christmas

awdeveau that's why I thought until I start riding with other guys with super sport bikes when we are in doing smackdowns on Naked Bike will never hold a candle to the 1299 H2 or BMW s1000 RR. That is why I love my super sports. Track days like at Cota I love them also. But my Ducati Monster R is a awesome bike for the smaller tracks

I’ll probably ride her till I have to put her in the junkyard, and then I have my 2016 fz09 which I also love and ride the hell out of. I remember watching this video when it came out. In my stupidity, I still proceeded to buy a CBR1000RR, for every reason mentioned in this video, I sold it a month later and now have an MT09SP. Best riding decision I ever made.

Great video. I own a sportbike and am well aware of the more comfortable options there are on the market. But I just love sportbikes. They are absolutely beautiful. I don’t use it to commute. It’s purely a weekend toy. I’m willing to tolerate the discomfort for my weekend rides if it means owning my dream bike. But yes if I was commuting daily on a bike I would absolutely invest in a more comfortable/practical bike.

You know this week I have been thinking about picking up a new sport bike after a couple years not riding. This video brought me swiftly back to earth 😅

I have a ZX-6R (03) since 6 years now and made over 40k miles on it. It's a pain in the ass for longer distances on the streets so I bought a naked bike after 2 years besides it. Totally glad with the Z750 (11) for the streets and my old ZX-6R for track days or just if I want to feel the race spirit again from time to time. Never had any issues during that time. Even though I ride in the winter with salt on the streets and several track days as I said! Thanks for that great content guys!! :)

Great video guys! Informative and funny as always. Honestly I don't find sport bikes that uncomfortable to ride on long distance trips. I am a proud owner of a 2014 ZX-6R 636. I have always had sport bikes (Ninja 600, CBR600rr, etc) after my very first motorcycle: a Ninja 650 (that was sooo comfy!) Last year I even done about 1000kms in a day (Brisbane - Mackay. It took me almost 12h) on my CBR600rr and I honestly loved it. You have got to be smart about it though: no backpack on your back (use a tailpack like the Kriega!) and wear a back protector and motorcycle boots. They help heaps "stiffening & strenghtening" your joints. The only problem to deal with would then be the sore bum... Cheers

After 2000 miles in two days on a sports bike, UK to the Sierra nervarda mountains in spain, I ached a bit, but, you start to adjust, and after a week of this you really start to bond with your bike. "Stop & stretch every 30 miles" ???? Pfftt. I fill it up and ride my R6 till the gas light pops on; too jacked up on adrenaline to feel any wrist or back pain. My body adapted to the stressful riding position. I will admit that once I park it for the day I have NO problem falling asleep.

Ergonomics is the main reason why I got the FZ6R. More of an upright position and has a tuned down version of the R6 engine. Super comfortable for me on long rides but not as comfortable for the passenger XD

Precisely why I sold my 07' R1 for my 16' FZ-09. Nice video guys.

And then the next STEP is Dual sport/ Adventure Bike. Been there. Done that.

Definately ADV is the next evolution of the sport bike rider

I should have had this video at the beginning of 2017. Would've prevented me from buying cbr600rr. Anyway, sold it and now I'm proud owner of 2018 Yamaha MT09. It so much better.

I would also say that if you ride alot your body will get accustomed to the riding position. Even the naked bikes guys complain about wind blast but it goes away.

owned an 03 R6 and never had any problems with it. The seating position is perfect on it for me. I can easily ride 6+ hours without any issues

bobbawon I’ve commutes on a sportbike for over 4 years and I’ve never regretted it. Perfectly comfortable. But I wouldn’t want to ride from LA to Solvang on it which is their point. Long stretches without lean are pretty unpleasant. I can ride twisty roads and tracks all day. It’s just not good at doing significant hwy miles.

I've ridden an '09 dyna, '09 ultra classic electroglide, and a '15 street glide over long distances. Even the couchiest bikes take getting used to.

what are your personal pros/cons of the Z900? I've been thinking about making my 600rr a track bike and I don't really want another super sport, so my attention has been caught by the Z900.

In my younger days I used to hate naked bikes, but I had an enlightenment a few years ago when I got a speed triple. It just makes commutes and the trip out to the mountains a much more enjoyable experience.

I did just under 100 miles yesterday on my R6 an I admit my wrists were killing me, my legs an balls were cooked with the heat an slammed against the tank by stiff suspension and I was jealous of my cousin on his MT09 with his comfortable riding position and much relaxed ergonomics😢😂

I'm a huge sports bike fan in particular Kawasaki ive had two Zx6r's 2010 and 2011 I now ride a 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R but tbh the new R6 looks stunning and is getting amazing reviews given the choice out of all these for me I'm bagging the R6 💯 great review boys 👍🏻Adam 🇬🇧

So this. Started with a cruiser that I fixed up that used to be my parents...used it to get to school when I was 15. Moved up to a super bike...Aprilia RSVR and I loved it in Cali. The torque...the handling...it was amazing. Moved back home and it was too much bike for Hawaii...so switched to a 600RR...loved it as well. Now I’m in my 30s and looking at a naked. Sporty fun, but it really comes into its own when you’re not young and dumb or splitting lanes in LA rush hour...or both. So much more comfortable!

Soon as you walked into the museum I saw the Britten V1000, an amazing bike I remember the build of it over a few months in magazines back in the early 90's , front and rear swingarms , crazy looking headers and so much more, go look it up amazing machine.

Yes I have raced dirt, I have also raced street. I do and have a wanted a Fz now Mt-07. I have not ridden in a very long time. Yes I would get a Yoshi exhaust and a K&N filter, plus Power Commander 5 a must have. Rear end delete stock junk also, break, turn signals plate mount. A must!

Wtf, Solvang has a motorcycle museum? I have gone their twice in the past 3 years and I missed it both times. Now it’s on my to do list.

It’s a great museum. Basically a private collection on display. Well worth the $10 donation considering there aren’t many like it around.

going from a ZX6 and putting 45k miles on it in 5 years I wanted something more comfortable, I was just not having fun on it anymore, if you ride it all the time you get used to it and develop the muscles needed for it, but after I stopped commuting on it I got on it occasionally and I was just not having fun anymore. I went to the dealer to buy a Ninja 1000, which seemed nice, had more upright position more comfortable sit and more, but my wife got on it and frowned, the sales man directed us to the used bike section , they had a beautiful Kawasaki Concours 14, wife got on it and loved it, I sat on it and said "fine, this will do" still a little heart broken at giving up the awesomely good looking 2018 ninja 1000, instead here I was , getting an "old person" bike concours 14... I have to admit how wrong I was , this bike is in no was shape or form boring, once you get used to it's bigger size and weight you really start wondering why you were riding anything else, 160 HP with 105 pounds of torque, windshield that you can ride with your modular helmet lifted and not fill one single bug hit your face, often I ride with no glasses and nothing in 20k miles I have ridden has hit my eyes, if I want to feel the wind I push the electric button and lower the windshield, I ride with two friends, one on a diavel and another on an aprilia 1000 , in the straight away they struggle to keep up while on the twisties I can keep up , they were so surprised at first they asked me to race them off the light a few times and were surprises when not only did they have trouble beating me but I actually pulled away from them! also the bike has storage with saddle bags and now a rear case, I have ridden this thing 1000 miles without stopping , and it is not a bad looking bike,I get looks from motorists and pedestrians alike with it's big size, powerful sounding 1400cc engine and just imposing look. Sport touring bikes is what sport riders ride when we get older. Would I had purchased this bike 6 years ago? probably not, but this is proof that you do not have to ride something slow and boring when you get older or want comfort. I actually got on a Z9 at a bike night, and compared to my bike it feels like a slightly more comfortable track bike.

I bought m first 3 bikes all last summer. Started naked Honda 500, naked Kawasaki 650 er6n, traded the 500 for the naked fz09. I didn’t want fairings, but when I finally got on the cbr600rr...I realized I was missing out. That extra weight is beautiful on the highway. Thinking of getting the Kawasaki 636..

Thanks for this video this is another reason why I chose the Ninja H2 SX SE its essentially a sportbike with touring comfort. Oh yeah and a supercharger lol.

don Trump I rather have kids start on smaller bike than increased death counts by 18 year old testosterone bombs starting on Supersports. And that way the reputation of riders gets kinda safed as I have heard from many American drivers who absolutely hate motorcyclists.

It is a good thing for younger riders, get experience first. In the UK though if you are over 24 (still very young) you can go straight for a full unrestricted license and get any bike. I've got a full license but still stuck on a 125cc :(

Can confirm, I'm 36 with almost 20 years of SS experience (Ninja 500 -> Katana 600 -> ZX6 -> R6 -> R1 -> CBR1000RR) Now I've purchased a new Z900 because my back can't take a SS anymore. Put a PCV w/ custom tune and a bunch of visual upgrades (Bar end mirrors, lower fairing, new levels, better wind screen, tidy tail, solo seat cowl, and exhaust system) picked up about 30HP and 20 TQ. It butt fucks 99.999% of anything on the road and it's actually comfortable. Definitely recommend

Went from an 03 ZX6R 636 to a 2014 fz09. Best choice ever. The bike has all the power right there and no need to rev it up to get power. Way more comfortable to ride long distances. I miss the super sports sometimes. I’ll end up getting another one someday.
