    There are two different kinds of vertical leaps: running and standing. However, the one used in general to refer to an athlete's official vertical leap is the standing vertical leap. Therefore, Sports Science, a show that places emphasis on statistics and empirical data, must use the measurement for Rose's standing vertical leap.

    Rose's vertical is far higher than 35 inches. It's easy to find footage of him in high-school on youtube. waltzing in at a slow pace, jumping off two feet, and dunking with his head at rim-height. His static vert would be much higher than 35 inches; his vert with a step into it would be up around 45.

  • @Herby20
    @Herby2012 жыл бұрын

    There was only 7 players last season who averaged more assists than Rose. Only three managed to average more than one assist higher than Rose (Rondo, Paul, and Nash). Just because a point guard is capable of scoring does not mean they are no longer a point guard. Isiah Thomas certainly wasn't a shooting guard, yet he averaged over 20 points a game in his prime while still dishing out a lot of assists.

  • @gf4670
    @gf467011 жыл бұрын

    Other way around. MJ shot more 3s as his career progressed because he got better at them AND because they became more important to the NBA game. People forget that the 3pt line didn't come into the NBA until 1980. The NCAA didn't fully adopt the 3 until 1986. Players of MJ's era didn't learn to shoot that distance, especially if they had that ability to drive. It took the NBA about 10 years to learn what to do with 3s. In the 80s only specialists shot 3s, 90s had far more, and today it's major.

    D Rose uses wormholes on the court to get from point A to point B so quickly.

    rose vertical is 42 last time i checked he jumps a little over half his body on some dunks without bending his legs. to get a 6 3 heat a few inches away from the rim is crazy hops

    Because he played for the same team, he is rose's idol, he lead his his team in the same way that Rose is, they both have won MVP and they are the only players on the bulls to do so. I hate when people act like MJ is a god that no one can compare to, I'm not saying that rose is better (He's not) but as the greatest player ever he is going to be compared to today's stars, personally i think rose has the POTENTIAL to be better than MJ, but if he uses it is something we will have to see.

    a guard is a point guard. a point guard is the guy that gets the ball passed when the other team scores. shooting guard and guard are 2 different things. for ex. john lucas the 3rd is a point guard. he gets the ball. kyle korver is a shooting guard. he shoots.

    35 inches is 7 inches higher than the average standing vertical. Most players have a better max vertical, which is done when running. However not that many NBA players have a 40+ vert. A 40+ is well above average. Derrick rose has a 35 inch standing vert and a 40 inch max/running vert.

    I love rose and im not trying to take anything away from him, but the league in jordan's time was far more competitive than it is now. players were trying to establish their names on their own teams instead of teaming up into big 3's (not saying that big 3's didnt exist at the time). so the talent on each team was way more balanced which is why i think it took jordan longer to get that 60+ win season

    @Labruin1414 I think he was just talking about his vertical on drose's jumpshot. I'm 5'11'' with a 35 inch vertical. I can grab and hang with 2 hands on the rim but i'm no where close to dunking. my hands are too small to palm the ball on a dunk

    Mj didn't take 3's because he didn't want to rely on the 3 pointer. He said if he kept shooting 3's he would not do other things on the court.
