"Spooky" Relics From Industrial South Wales - ABANDONED Stormy Down Lime Works

A walk from the old Bedford Ironworks Cefn Cribwr to the abandoned Stormy Down lime works and quarries, more relics from the industrial past of South Wales.
The spooky abandoned Stormy lime works and quarry are also known as Tranch Pyle Lime works or Kenfig Lime works.
Bedford ironworks dates from the 1780s, the abandoned lime works are much later and were in operation until the early 2000s.
The spooky old lime works are scattered with old machinery and the place has a very eerie atmosphere, autumn was a perfect time to visit when the nights were drawing in and Halloween approaches.
I didn’t come across any haunted happenings but there were a lot of strange noises.
It’s not that common in Wales or the UK in general to find places that are derelict and have been left to rot. Usually, they don’t last long. They’re quickly cleared and redeveloped.

Glad you enjoyed. If you do walk it, as I mentioned in the video, they've closed the path across the rail line but there's a path from Waun Bant Road which comes from Kenfig Hill.

Sounds like you should have taken Mel with you for company. Worked on construction of the motorway in 1980 and remember looking down on the lime works in the valley. As you say it just looks as if everyone left one Friday afternoon and never returned on Monday.

Not many places around this area which are like it. Just deserted with lots of machinery still there.

Just a note to say that I visited today on 4/3/22 and they were demolishing the site 😢 I only managed a few shots (in harsh sun) of what is left before I was asked to leave as its now a privately owned site :( 😞 not going to lie....I was a little freaked out when I could hear heavy machinery going...but was more saddened to find out why

Thanks for the update. Do you know why they were demolishing the site or what they intend to do with the place?

It is, I was surprised how much was just left there. Like I mentioned in the video, most places are cleared and redeveloped quite quickly.
