Thank you all for watching! A few notes on spoilers: the only gameplay showcased are from levels that have been shown in pre-release media for the game - I specifically left out the final level and most of the boss encounters. If you'd like to avoid seeing anything on the bosses, the video gives a timecode skip to jump to!

The fact Spongebob has a Sonic style Homing Attack is hilarious to me

It's extremely Sonic but it works so well!
You articulated my thoughts exactly. There's something so nostalgic playing this game. Something beyond "its like the spongebob game from my childhood" A nostalgia for a time when it felt any video game had merit, even if it was made with a brand attached. This game has so much charm and love put into it. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just need to be infectiously passionate. It's inspiring to see.
6:40 that is exactly how I felt about this game. You can tell alot of effort was put into this with all the easter eggs, but I miss that varied amount of missions per level like in BFBB. Having just one objective makes me want to finish the level in one go, and when you don't have much time for gaming makes 30 minute gaming sessions a no go. Love the visuals and the story, but wish there were more missions so this could be more of a pick up were you left off kind of game like BFBB.
The devs recently said they wanna do more Spongebob games. I just hope we get other games based on Nick shows. I guess they feel like maybe they won't sell or something. I would love a new Nicktoons Unite game. They should remake the 1st one and then come out with a brand new one. I want it to be similar to Marvel Ultimate Alliance, so we can pick any Nick character.

The peppa video will be 4 hours long
One nitpick I have is there's no quest tracker beyond telling me a about a secondary objective in a specific world. A Skyrim-esq quest log that specified areas would be quality of life change. That and collectables are added retroactively rather than being there from the start gave me a sense of repetition going through an entire level again. That said I really love this game. Edit: I do wish the final boss was more complex. It should've been a world by itself with a multi-phase threat that uses every feature in the game to overcome. It just reused the reef blower from Glove World.

I agree on the extra collectables - it's not the best incentive to re-explore the levels. I feel like it might've been better to have those collectables as a secondary objective as you move through the level, sort of like Patrick's socks in Battle.
Really appreciated this review will be picking this up in the future!

I definitely recommend it to people who like SpongeBob and/or are nostalgic for the older SpongeBob games! It's a pretty straightforward platformer so it's a little harder to recommend to anyone who doesn't dig the series.
My favourite SpongeBob game now, however if they do a 3rd, I’d like the bubble bowl back, I felt like I had more control over it for aiming
Another great video

I just found your channel in my recommended feed after watching IGN's awful review. You put out GREAT content and I hope to watch your channel keep growing!
i thought the game had glitched and failed to play the final boss music too until I paused the game and noticed there was music, it was just mixed ridiculously quiet

You're probably right! I recently played the game again over on Twitch and I finally noticed there's music there but VERY quiet like you said - had to have headphones in to notice. I had the music glitch out and go away multiple times in my playthrough so I just assumed that's what had happened!
Best review of the game I've seen.

Now we just need a sequel or remake of that one Teen Titans fighting game. That's another licensed game I enjoyed.

@@FauxRetro it's just called Teen Titans the game I think. It was on GameCube and ps2. It had a few stages from throughout the original series.
For me, the biggest gripe I have with the game is that most levels look too identical to me. I haven't played the game yet so I'm looking up videos on it to see if I should get it or not, but it overall doesn't look as varied as bfbb. The animations look great, yeah, but it could honestly benefit from more than one color pallet. Bfbb uses far more colors in every level and does more to make every environment stand out from each other. Dutchman's graveyard, sand mountain, and jellyfish fields are extremely different from eachother, color and layout wise. While I'm watching gameplay of CS, all I can see is the same kind of layout in every stage along with some orange filter on top of everything making it all look too similar. The only level I saw that was kind of different is that Halloween one that uses a lot more greens and darker hues. Idk, the gameplay may add more to his moveset and the animations and cinimatics look far better, but it just seems that they put all of their focus on those and unfortunately lacked in level design. I still might pick it up so my daughter can play, but I honestly don't see myself being as excited to 100% it like I was for bfbb playing the game to completion in almost one session.
