Nice to see deaf representation in animation, I honestly can't think of too many characters that have been shown with that.

At first I wanted to beat the snot out of the champions for what they did last season but now I realized they aren’t bad kids anymore they’re actually cool to hang with

I feel like it hasn’t been addressed enough that nobody signs with or to Jackie until Champions Hike and we don’t even see Jackie sign until Dodgy Decisions. In conclusion I feel like this is Xaviers fault somehow and also how did Jackie understand anything that was happening ever at all.

@@drawing_the_beat3788 yeah lipreading is a lot harder than the media makes it out to be. I've taught myself to do it because of my auditory processing issues, and it barely helps. I don't doubt that Jackie is trying to lipread, but it's likely difficult for him because he has only visual context to help further his understanding of the situation.

It probably is Xavier's fault. Up until the fall of the kingdom he treated Jackie more like a gun than person. Jackie understands who his allies and enemies are and in battle that means he understands enough.

Although this was posted a year ago, the actual answer is that the decision to make Jackie deaf wasn't made until a certain episode (dodgy decisions, I believe?) some of the comments could make cool in-universe theories tho

He's one of my favorite characters.
