I feel like the Empty Lot has just been haunted by Tachibana and that innocent dude ever since 0, and that's why it's almost always at the Millennium Tower where shit goes down.

No matter how much time has passed, seeing this scene always makes me shed a tear. As what my friend would say to me on my yakuza journey after we ball our eyes out: "This is a yakuza game and dammit, it hits hard."

I get chills every time Kiryu says he will bury the Tojo clan. Never have I heard a character say they would do something and felt in my core that they could and would do it

I just wanna mention, the guy who killed Tachibana is the asshole who Kiryu dropkicked off the bathroom window in Chapter 1. This piece of garbage survived that shit just to go and kill one of the best characters in the game and then die immediately to Kuze shoving his head into the ground. I hate him so much.

No one didn't cry. Yakuza is next level. Can't wait to binge her whole playthrough. That's rad.

It's amazing how Y0 tells its story and reinvigorated the franchise and RGG mostly been hitting on cylinders with Yakuza/Judgement games since then But damn they were cooking mad with this prequel

I do think this ranks quite high amongst the scenes that made me cry the most, but dammit if Rikiya’s death and the ending of 6 and Gaiden also rank very high. I cried so hard seeing that message the kids left to Kiryu, my god.

When I first saw this scene I was like, "Come on! You were so close!"

Yakuza games are highly emotionally charged. But the rollercoaster of emotions that is Yakuza 0 is something else.

This is my favorite character death in all of fiction. I could easily write a huge essay on how perfect Tachibana's death is, both emotionally and how important it was, and its execution, no pun intended.

In my opinion, when you kill an important character, it has to be done so their presence is still felt. That their loss actually matters. And this is one of the best.

@@UltimaKeyMaster Tachibana was a core driving force of the whole game. He has helped Kiryu throughout the whole game to keep him alive and away from the police. There were many deaths in the yakuza franchise that just felt cheap or contrived. When Tachibana was killed, you really felt the significance of his death and that it wasn't done in a cheap way. He and his sister were JUST out of reach, and the fact they were so close really twists the knife

It's a smart ploy but a tragic one, it's like his death was more of a sacrifice, one last ditch effort to protect his long lost sister.

Everyone when they first start playing Yakuza: I can't wait to play this wacky Japan simulator game where you fight tigers and dodge missiles and sing Karaoke and stuff! Everyone when they get deep into the story:

Yakuza is a serious crime drama. But like, unironically this time.

She's been so emotionally tugged along by 0 every step of the way. It's going to be raining a whole lot down in Ozland once she gets to all of the other Yakuza games.

Yakuza 0 really was peak storytelling for the franchise. Hard to top or even equal it.

ngl teared up a bit myself when I got to that part. I legit thought it was gonna end with the foot smash. "Okay he's hurt bad, we'll probably have to rush him to a hospital or somethi-...he's smiling...Is he provoking-oh no, OH NO." The sister part though, that's what got me. Man has that girl had it...insanely rough.

Can't wait for her Like A Dragon playthrough when it happens

2:18 Kiryu has canonically never killed anyone. This becomes the crux of why he is respected by all the Yakuza in the series. No matter what, he puts the beat down but never kills anyone. He goes in with the resolve of merely setting these CRIMINALS straight. And sometimes people just repeated need the lesson. DON'T MAKE KIRYU COME AND SET YOU STRAIGHT. Plans against him always result in failure.

That's a slight mistranslation. The reason people respect Kiryu is because he doesn't murder anyone, not because he doesn't kill anyone. He has killed in self defense before, but given the option he will never take another person's life.

Basically: Several Yakuza clans go to war over a tiny piece of land as its the deciding factor to real estate domination and a project worth billions. Makoto/The girl, was basically hunted by everyone as she unknowingly inherited that piece of land. Tachibana did everything to protect his sister. He became a real estate agent to try and claim that land so focus is off from her even if it means Japans biggest Yakuza clans will collectively come after him. He was brought in before it came to fruition and they wanted to know who owns that land. He endured the torture and was actually willing to die to protect her. Kiryu respect the hell out of him cause Tachibana saved him numerous times, even taking a bullet for Kiryu cause he is such a man of honour that he made a promise to Kiryu's mentor and father figure to watch over him. Tachibana let himself be taken to the torture room as he traded himself for Kiryu's safety when the best hitman in asia was sent on them. Even going "I will come willingly if you spare Kiryu. Kill him and I will kill myself too and everything you want to know goes down with me"

This was bad. But I still got more of a reaction from when Nakimura thought he had to shoot Kiryu to save him.

If I was Kiryu, I would've checked for a pulse When Makoto felt her brother's cold body, I felt her and Hakoz's pain and tears Krusty the clown- (turns into a wreck) Oh god, cut to a commercial!

I wasn't sad in that cutscene. I wanted to break Kuze like a kit kat because he killed Yoneda, he didn't allow me to leave the imprint of his face in the nearest concrete wall bruh. So all I wanted in that scene was to beat Kuze into a pulp, I felt Kiryu's punch there.

the end of the video made me think about that one subplot where they made a movie about Kiryu and it was totally inaccurate to the point that kiryu never caught on but everyone except the director recognized him if they did a series and it was actually accurate kiryu clapping trying to blend in but holding back the tear thank god in reality hes only crying about circuit racing

Yakuza 0 doesn't hold back when majority of these characters die a brutal death. From Nishitana to Awano, Wen Han Lee, Sagawa, Oda, and especially Tachibana.

Honestly, thank fuck he's dead. Oops, i meant Kuze's lackey, head smashed into the marble floor. He's like mini-proto-Majima-Everywhere except he's impulsive and emotional, and is infinitely less based than Kuze / Majima / Sagawa / Shibusawa / etc. Like if it weren't for him, Tachibana might've made it even if it's only for a few extra minutes.

This honestly really made me realize that other than Y0 Newer products like Judgement and Ichiban doesn't really have this moment Sure Ichiban baited me to move a little with HIM crying but it has so much lower effect than this And Yagami is just... not much with him yelling for Sawa

I mean, that's not a "new" game thing. I'd be hard pressed to find a moment that hits this hard emotionally in all of the RGG games, not just the new ones. Mostly because the RGG games don't often kill off important characters. But I think that just means this moment is just that good, not that the other games are bad for not reaching this standard.
