Until mariene’s episode you kinda forget that joes is an atrocius human, its so easy to slip into his charm, i was actually rooting for him at a point, and then you see all that he puts mariene and of course all of the other women through, and her acting was so phenomenally painful, my blood was boiling for him to pay for it

This season reminded me just how scary Joe is when it's from someone else's point of view. The last time I felt that way was in Season 1 when Beck finds the box in the bathroom.
Yeah watching the Maryanne episode I felt betrayed by Joe. Like disillusioned that the audience was finally seeing the truth uninhibited by the bias and manipulation of joe’s point of view. I felt bamboozled by that plot twist because despite his villainy, joe has always been endearing and likable… until that episode. The whole time watching I knew Penn felt proud for people to see joe as the monster he truly is. From that point on, the desire to redeem him as an audience member was gone for me. Great season!

One breadcrumb, when Reece was the only person Joe liked. We should’ve known something was up 😂😂
my favorite thing about the second part of the 4th season is how we finally see Joe from a victim's perspective. It's so easy to get caught up in his narration and to actually sympathize with him at some points (even though we are aware he is a serial killer), so when we see it from Mariene's pov it's when we can very clearly see how deranged and dangerous he is.
The guy that plays Rhys deserves more love. After Penn, his performance is my favourite out of anyone in S4 and I'm curious if he's back for the next season

His ability to slide through the system the way he does makes him Joe, our lovable serial killer lol. I love that fiction part of it, crazy I know! Somehow, the writers make it work..
Season 4's plot felt like a necessary step to get to Joe's conclusion. He had to attempt redemption and justify it psychologically by compartmentalising his shadow self (Rhys). Can't wait for season 5! Will Joe be able to accept the parts of him he is disgusted by? Will he receive justice? I think he'll be attempting to embrace Rhys to avoid the split psyche psychodrama, and make amends in a philanthropic way utilising his status. Marienne and Nadia are going to team up, possibly with some other characters to bring him down.

In my opinion, part of Joe's infectious charm is that we, as viewers, want to feel as superior intellectually as he does to those around him. We spend so much time each episode proving to ourselves how unlike the other characters we are, that we glaze over Joe's blatant flaws. Mariene's episode shattered that feeling for me and made me realise that actually, I don't want to be anything like Joe at all. Everyone else isn't the problem here, it's Joe.
My heart truly stopped when I thought You was recreating a PLL Charles type beat. I was very happy with the outcome - You fo ev'

Am I the only one who had fun with the rhys and joe tandem? It's like I still want more of them working and bantering with each other for the next season (IF there will be another season).
I’m happy I didn’t let comparisons to prior seasons disuade me from giving Season 4 a chance. It was a thought-provoking and new twist that had me hooked from start to finish. Now I get why the two parts were divided because I am MIND BLOWN 🤯
I couldn't agree more with the female perspective part, it was perfect! thank you for these episodes
The beautiful thing about Joes character is that there were a couple of us who thought Rhys had a twin brother. And it was easier for us to believe that Rhys had a twin brother than Joe being so mentally insane he made him up. That was the charm of Joe and the genius of the people who worked on the show. Loved it and I need more
Finished the second part last night. I need to go back and watch the 4th season again
And both of yours "nope variations" are good
::Jesse Pinkman voice:: He can’t keep getting away with this!!!😫 I don’t know why I went into this season thinking it was its last; the assumption only made the ending more mind-blowing. I don’t like that Joe got a happy ending, but at least Marianne did. Ah Nadia. Ah😮💨 TY Podcrushed team for this debrief. Loved Nava’s list of breadcrumbs. Cool that Penn got to direct and really interesting insight in how season 5 Joe wouldn’t be the outsider looking in anymore. I had the same reaction as Sophie seeing Love on screen, excited she appeared and sad that it was so quick!
when part 1 ended, i saw the theory that rhys was just part of joe's imagination, and the only reason i doubted it, was that i didn't know how they would explain it in a mental health way, without making it DID. but when they had the lady with erotomania, i knew it would be that, because the clues were too flagrant. so really it wasn't a twist when it was revealed in e7, cuz i knew. i agree with penn though, when the season finished, it felt like the end of a chapter, joe's emotional arc the entire show, he has constantly been pudhing away the killer part of him, always trying to justify it and pretend it wasn't there, so the ending with him fully acknowledging who he is, with all the power in the world, and huring nadia, with no more pretense, this feels like the beginning of the end, like we need a final season to conclude everything. even more with the fact that he is back as joe goldberg in new york, the place where it all began for him, where his estranged mom and brother are, i fell like s5 needs to be the end of joe
Wow this gave me a lot to think about I'm gonna start the series over again.
Penn is such a exceptional actor playing Joe. I am glad I can check in here to watch Podcrushed on the regular and hear the real Penn’s insights. And to remind me he’s not Joe… lol!
KNEW IT ! RHYS WAS JOE'S MIND
The only reason i saw the rhys plot twist coming was bc i saw the thumbnail and title of a video saying that, and so then on i started paying more atrention to it to certify it kept fitting in
