Split Log Stove - One Log Fire For Camp & Trail Cooking

Ойын-сауық

After testing a wide variety of different one log stoves I came up with this simple design that serves as a great way to have a one log fire.
Three cuts with a saw and one split is all it takes. It can be made in just a few minutes, takes little effort and fuel to get burning, and is easy to maintain throughout the duration of it's use.
The heat can be controlled to provide a low or high heat which makes this one log fire perfect for cooking.
Many of the other variations of a one log stove that I tried (including the swedish torch and rocket stove) took too long to create and often required special tools. They were difficult to get burning, and once burning they let off an aggressive flame that is only useful for high-temperature cooking.
The split log stove is far more aimed towards being a useful cooking fire. It can replace gear in your pack like twig stoves or fuel stoves. It's simple, practical, and fun to make. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you.
Thank you to everyone who watches.

Your split log stove is a great idea. It works better than I thought it would. Watching you cook brought back a camping memory. Once I was cooking for several people and had a LARGE frying pan. As usual, I cooked the bacon first and beat about 6 eggs to scramble. The pan was still on the fire heating up the bacon grease. I poured the eggs into the grease and POOF! They cooked in an instant! I called them flash eggs and everyone ate them. No burnt edges or uncooked center. I have never been able to reproduce that event. God bless!

David West recommended your channel while demonstrating the split log fire. You offer great information that will be helpful on the other side of the pond here in SE Asia. The logs are rather sturdy when just split in half. It's when you quarter them to try and replicate a swedish torch that they tip over quite easily. Thanks for watching! Happy trails.

Have you ever considered taking a very interested, quick learning, and outdoor loving subscriber with you? Hands on teaching and a different atmosphere for you, as you're usually alone? I'm sure I speak for many when I say that, a weekend trip with you would be a once in a lifetime. The skills and mentality you have to offer are amazing and I would love to have an experience like this. Especially so I can pass what I learn onto my 3 boys. Unfortunately, I'm not interested in a paid "experience" as it is not personal or authentic at all. That's why being able to go on an adventure with someone like you would be a once in a lifetime! If you ever think this is something you want to do, I'm volunteering to be first on the list! Great videos mate!
