I don’t get the impression the director is poking fun at the disorder, or glorifying it either. It attempts to delve into the intricacies of said disorder, and also into a kind of fantastical supernatural/scientific take on human capabilities. In this case, using pure animalistic rage and an Adrenaline fuelled state morphing the form of James McAvoy’s character. I don’t think M. Night Shyamalan glorified the fascinating disorder he attempts to capture. How accurately he does it, Idk enough about the disorder or have seen footage of somebody with it. I don’t think any additions of comedy or wit he added was to to poke insidious fun at the disorder, it was to lighten up the tone of some chapters scenarios that were so dark and full on. Comic relief for some distressing scenes, and a distressing disorder. Nonetheless an impeccable acting performance.

This is one of his few good ones, just enjoy it and realize it's a fantasy horror film not a documentary on this disorder.

I absolutely love the reveal of The Beast. Climbing walls is usually a bare minimum display for 'powers' in superheroes or villains. But after the movie builds itself up as a universe the lies on a thin line of reality and fantasy, seeing him like that was terrifying and bone-chilling.

And it's the same for many other systems I've met. You can tell this film was written by someone who never even bothered to look into DID just by how they interact and act around people. No alter is "bad". Yes there are some that do harm but they arent necessarily "bad"

People, Barry is a real personality. Barry was the main dominant personality who just wanted to protect Kevin but later the main personalities that took over were Dennis and Patricia. Yes Dennis was impersonating Barry in some sessions but Barry isnt made up by Dennis. Barry was replaced.

The way he plays Dennis is CHILLING He’s a dark man who so desperately wants to try and do good by Kevin all the while struggling against his nature. The fact that Kevin portrays that perfectly with his tense way of moving and talking and facial expressions is AMAZING My favorite scene is when they’re trying to escape and push past Hedwig, who struggles physically to hold them back. Once Dennis takes over, he easily overpowers them as he’s a grown man.

Jason Krane i agree with James, but Shyamalan is another statement. Back in his prime he got critical acclaim, his movies were great, but something happened along the line and now they’re all shit. This movie has been the only exception due to the fact that he wrote this script a long long time ago, back before he was seen as a joke. The role itself was tough to do, but that alone doesn't mean you deserve an oscar. many other actors in the same role would've done a much better job.

The moment he finally controls his personality disorder is equivalent to a psychologists “break through” with patients who have PTSD. It’s much harder as illustrated, but even severe cases of dissociative disorder can be managed with treatment. Fascinating movie.

His ability to switch voices, mannerisms, and accents so effortlessly is next level acting ability. Samuel L. Jackson said the same thing about him in “Glass”.

How James McAvoy didn't earn an Oscar for this, amazes me.. One actor playing one particular character goes through trouble, and yet James doesn't get acknowledged for 8 personalities..

I don't care what you think about the movies, I have never seen a performance like McAvoy's in my LIFE. I had NO IDEA this man was so talented. Absolutely hypnotizing. I had to watch Glass after Split JUST to see him fight the cycle through all the personalities. Absolutely sumblime.

The fact that Kevin asked Casey to use the shotgun to kill him is heart wrenching. His death in Glass was what he wanted but not how I would’ve expected. Still loved the Unbreakable Trilogy

So good in this role it was utterly convincing he performed this role. Shows he is a real talent.

I don’t think people know how scary DID can be. Obviously if you and your system communication is good then it’s not too bad. But for the systems who don’t communicate and the “host” wakes up days later not being able to remember anything. Man. I can’t imagine

One of the literal greatest acting performances ever. Absolute class and care AND skill for this role.

I just imagine how hard it is to be a guy playing the role of 24 different ... I don't even have the word to say. James Mcavoy deserves the credit.

Split is so scary, but such an amazing film, especially with this actor.

basically, this whole video's point is to show james mcavoy's acting talent and how amazing he is at what he does. and also, hedwig is 100% my spirit animal. "what, are you blind?"

I thought Filth was his best performance and that that would be his defining role, but then years later he absolutely outdid himself with Split and now this is his standout defining role. Wouldn't be surprised if he still outdoes himself in something else the next decade though but this, this is just so memorable.

The tiny quirks that McAvoy put in with Ms. Patricia's character really ties in to this feminine side that really makes you feel Patricia is this woman, a separate person from Kevin beyond the male body of Kevin.

I can certainly said that the most survivor person in the whole movie it's Casey. Casey stayed strong for so long. And I felt so much for Kevin, his life was terrible.

James’ performance was so damn good, that as I watched the movie, I could tell what personality he was playing just by looking at his face, without him even saying a word. I’ve never seem anything like it. Simply impeccable.

Last scene- wow, just wow. There are so many emotions- and the request to end all of it by killing him. Incredibly well written and well acted.

This is one of those rare occurrences where an absolutely masterful acting performance and incredibly intriguing character concept is trapped inside a seriously flawed movie plot.
