Eddie Rayner: Keyboards

'Time For A Change' has to be one of the greatest songs ever written...pure genius.
Wonderful. Takes me back to happy times...have always loved this album and it warms my heart to see others still do too. Thank you.
Seems I'm bloody late to this party, but I'm absolutely loving it...
Wow these are GOLD the boys look soooo young, reminds me of about the time I left school and Phil was in a class a few years ahead of me at Hastings Boys High, those were the days under Mr Crest....
My absolute favourite. Could listen to this endlessly.
With all the crazy hair, makeup, costuming and the need for artists to create one of the things that I love about split enz most is that the music simply and usually speaks for itself.

You’re so right. Lyrics, melodies, musicianship. They never went commercial, but they were right up there with the greats!
Such a moving song - always puts me on the verge of tears 💙
Their music was genius and underrated.
I am so feeling Mr.Judd in this video. What a beautiful man ❤❤❤
More please, it's so amazing to see early recordings.
A track from one of the best albums ever
Great to see this video ....have loved this song since I first bought Mental Notes in about 1977!
Most likely my favourite song ever written.
I'm either high or that's one of the most heartfelt songs ever.
Thanks for putting these tracks on UTUBE.
These are amazing. I haven’t seen these before. Truly amazing.
Bring tears to my eyes
Splendid song - pure genius. Thanks Phil :-)
I love all these old gems Phil! Great to see! Onya XOX
Beautiful Mellotron sounds
Yes, thank you very much for this, and every other video on this page! Nothing less than perfection "on all fronts."
Best recording of a time for a change that I have ever heard in my life.

When it was 1st released, Second Thoughts (confusingly released as Mental Notes in Canada) was my 1st exposure to Split Enz and it blew me away, still does almost 50 yrs later. Definitely a GOAT! But when I heard the original Mental Notes a few years ago it gave me a new perspective; rough, raw and Phil’s vocals to the fore….plus, it contained Maybe! Close contender for GOAT.
Lyrics You act as though you were a blind man who's crying Crying 'bout all the virgins that are dying In your habitual dreams you know Seems you need more sleep But like a parrot in a flaming tree I know, it's pretty hard to see and I'm beginning to wonder if it's time for a change but still you try like a fat boy dancing Gershwin's blues But you'd rather sit at home and watch the news and I'm beginning to wonder if it's time for a change I'm beginning to wonder if it's time for a change
sang to perfection... its a plus Tim sang kiwi English, where most singers try to be American!
Where did you find this obscure Finn brothers song

@KA Houli I agree
This has a Peter Gabriel/Genesis vibe to it. I'm thinking specifically of The Carpet Crawlers.
Trying to understand why there are SO MANY DIFFERENT VERSIONS of EVERY song and EVERY album they did? Frustrating.
