These guys were brilliant. I still cannot understand why they did not crack the US market. But at least Neil cracked it with Crowded House.

this is an awesome song. the instrumental tones and melody are just awesome. the whoops background singing with the vocalist just repeating that was my mistake is musically wonderful.

This is really interesting Enz history wise, I've never seen the Toppop stuff before. I"m guessing this is early on in the piece for the album or promotion or some other factor cos the full Dyzrhthmia costumes are not on show here, only Eddie and Mal have the Dizrhthmia era gear on, the rest is recycled or something else. Tim wears the pink outfit from Lovey Dovey, and Neil's got on something completely different. The Australian Countdown performance features them in the proper Dizrythmia cover clothes and the proper video is something else again.

@@MarcKnight Thanks! I was always interested in their visual side as much as the music and kind of obsessively studied the tiny cover of my best of split enz tape when I was about 14. On it too was a really interesting set of costumes that I hadn't seen before (and weren't on the compilation video either) so was a bit of a mystery. It wasn't until I started looking for rare enz stuff on youtube 20 years later, that I realised it was the famous "Things" video which I'd heard of but never seen or heard before and the costumes were from that. I also bought nearly every album in vinyl as a teenager too, mostly for the covers, and the Dyzrhthmia cover has always been one of my favourites, they look kinda slick and science fiction. Tim's outfit is a vibrant dark green where the My mistake video it's white. Noel really kinda went all out around this time it seems cos they'd been recycling the pastel suits for a few years at least. There's another TopPop video on here, of them doing My Mistake and they've got the proper "my mistake video" gear on. It's fun and kinda silly keeping track of all their various outfits.
