These guys deserve credit for inventing New Wave music before New Wave was officially a thing. The music, the costumes, the hair and make-up...even the band name. It all smacks of 80's new wave. But when this song came out, punk was just beginning to explode. The Enz finally broke in England when the Sex Pistols hit, and soon after in America. Many punks saw the Enz perform, including Johnny Rotten. You can't tell me these guys from down under didn't have an influence on post-punk, new wave, new romantic, brit-pop and neo-psychedelia. There was no other act like them around at the time.

Or you mean copying prog rock stuff that had already been around 5 to 10 years

And copying NYC American bands that were the same source the Sex Pistols ripped off

@@docsavage8640 Who do you mean? Who was copying who? The Enz doing the copying, or others copying The Enz? I wasn't suggesting SE didn't have Influences of their own whom they copied, like Prog and Vaudeville and Skiffle...was just saying that New Wave acts of the 80s copied what the Enz had already been doing since the late 70s.
Nigel Griggs absolutely slays the bass. :)
Creative, inventive and almost accessible - love what these guys brought to music - oh, and the bass is cookin' in this track
One of my favourite Enz song, the right amount of quirkiness and wit.

The Enz at their clownish best. These were the days.
My God 💕 Love Love their style
Love anything Enz
Justvheard this for the first time in mid 2024... What can I say? Holds up well.
Great era of Enz
Tim and Neil. Imagine having to own those haircuts in 1977. The rest of the world was helmet hair blow dried to perfection along with a mustache .
Staring at the embers ;!made my day. The best song they did. Why didn't split enz do this? !!!... Onse
Don't know if I'm watching the Enz or Dawn of the dead!
I used to play this tune on the radio to recharge dayworkers! ❤⚡️
Whistles were a thing then weren't they haha. I like the zombie chic Noel put in the costuming too.
Never heard this one. So original
It was N. Finn, Griggs, Green in - Chunn, Crowther, Gillies and Judd out

It is a funny dynamic. It took the early weirdos with the lesser of the songwriting talent to help set the template for the more talented substitutes who were a little less weird to then come in to create massive success.
SO GOOD.. so hypnotic
Hahahahahahaha love this band so funny all fantastic songs
💕
Love it alot but I do wonder what they think when they look back on it😂😂

Split Enz were nerds before the term even existed
houla le pire c'est que j'aime un peu bien
"I Got You" and "Six Months in a Leaky Boat" were better tunes.
