Split batch hard cider tasting with 3 different yeasts

Here's the full video of the tasting for a split batch tropical hard cider I made with my good buddy Paul. Big shout out to ‪@MoreBeer_‬ for hooking us up with the Boiron Fruit Puree's.
We used Pineapple and Passion Fruit in each and then fermented them with Whitelabs yeasts. One got English Cider Yeast, One got French Saison Yeast, and one got Tropicale Ale yeast.

Been making my ciders with Lutra Kveik for the last few years.. very netural flavor ..none of that Champagne taste and its fast ferment.. But it does end up bone dry. you have to back sweet for sure.

I do the same. I made a strawberry lemon hard cider and back sweeten it. It's so good.

I’ve been doing a series of experiments with different yeasts and the Kveik has been my favorite as well.

What were the starting and ending gravity of them all?

I believe the starting was 1.054 on all of them. The tropicale and French saison yeast finished at 1.001 and the cider yeast finished at 1.004. Cheers 🍻

I prefer to let my cider age 2 weeks to a month. The flavors develop and the sour flavor mellows out. I like to S-04 cause it doesn't finish down to 1.000, it normally finishes at around 1.010.

Nice! I like a slightly sweeter cider, I’ll have to try S-04 in an upcoming batch!

@@ElementaryBrewingCo Same here. I think just a little sweetness helps the fruit flavors shine a bit more.

@@AlbeeSoaring I was about to make a statement that s-04 should leave some sweetness behind.

@@jeremybrews2521 I have tried many yeasts and made some really good ciders. Lots of yeasts are monsters and dry completely and I found it looses the fruitiness with being too dry. I dont like stabilizing with adding extra junk and then adding whatever to sweeten. A friend mentioned trying S-04 to me and since trying that I havent changed. My cider base is always the same. 5x 96oz jugs of juice 2x apple juice concentrate. SG 1.060 and FG 1.010 average. Gives me a 6.25-6.5% cider.
