Splines can be so useful in adding both a decorative feature to a corner joint, say on a box or drawer box, plus it can add strength to ensure a simple joint becomes a really strong joint.
There are lots of ways to cut the slot for the spline, by hand, with a router, using a jig, to mention a few.
This method uses the Evolution Rage5-S Table Saw and nothing more than the fence and a temporary stop block.
Once you’ve marked out your slots it’s then just a matter of raising the blade height till the teeth enter and exit at the desired marks.
Once dialled in, clamp your stop block in place and perform your cut.
You can then alter your design requirements to suit you. A couple of thin splines, multiple thin splines, couple of thicker splines as in the video or even one larger spline occupying the centre of the corner joint.
